Mum went to stay at Springkell for 3 weeks to give me some respite. I found all of the staff that I met to be lovely and caring. Everything was very well organised and a very easy experience for me. The home is bright and welcoming and mums room was lovely, warm and cosy. I feel mum was very well looked after and I will pop mum in the home again when I need some respite. I would highly recommend this care home.
Used for 2 weeks respite care. I have found that this is sometimes complicated to arrange because a lot of care homes will not arrange such care too far in advance. With sprinkell they were very flexible we were able to agree the terms very quickly
Our parent needed a brief spell of respite care to recover from a hospital stay. The attention to detail by the staff was excellent. The care for our parent and the support for the permanent residents was lovely. There is a genuine sense of community between staff and residents. The respite support was just what was needed and the self contained flat which was provided was beyond that which we expected to be provided. We would definitely return to Soringkell and our parent commented on the way supported was offered and the kindness of everyone.
My father has been at Springkell House for the last 8 months as he is unable to live independently now. It took a short while for him to adjust to his new living arrangements, as it would do with new any resident giving up their home. Although it took a little period of adjustment he loved all of the staff and the home overall. He now loves being at Springkell and wouldn't want to be anywhere else. He has no complaints. He loves the staff and the food, and enjoys some of the many activities that are available. He loves his room with all of his pictures on the wall.
We are privileged to have our father at Springkell House. A very warm and homely atmosphere welcomes you at the door. Bright and cheerful bedrooms. Lounge areas are inviting and cosy and the dining room is a lovely space to eat and chat with friends. The team wanted to know everything about our father, it was evident that they are very skilled, caring and thoughtful. Dad has become happy and his well-being has greatly improved. He is safe and secure. There is a family feel to the home and the staff show nothing but patience, kindness and respect, with courtesy and professionalism. Staff genuinely doing a job which they enjoy. All health matters are referred to the local GP who visits weekly. Thrown into the mix are podiatrist, hairdresser and optician visits. Following an eye examination glasses were prescribed. Brilliant laundry services. We are constantly kept up to date via emails and phone calls and decisions are made together. Dignity is key, and this is where you will find it.
Dad is a resident at Springkell. The home is always clean & tidy, the staff are always friendly, courteous & professional. I cannot fault the level of care that Dad receives, his health & diet is carefully monitered which allows for a piece of mind knowling that he is so well looked after. If there is the slightest issue the home is always on point with contact to ensure that any piece of information regarding his condition & or relevant matters are provided, it's a level of transparency that allows me to whollly place my trust in all that is Springkell. If Dad could he woulld drink coffee, eat cake all day & he'd be more than happy to represent the home at the Olympics in doing so. G.P. visits are also supported by dental & podiatry, there are music events, parties & pantomine at Christmas. Dad is safe in the hands of Springkell.
Springkell staff make this home stand out. Whenever you pass a member of staff, whether it be management, cleaner or carer, they make a point of acknowledging you, smiling and saying "hello". I have been in many homes where people rush by, oblivious. Here it is clear that the staff are engaged, relaxed and genuinely care about Springkell's residents. The staff are thorough with regards to medication schedules and always react to requests and feedback swiftly and constructively. Staff are kind and helpful to my Mother, a Vascular Dementia sufferer. Their care and attention is much appreciated.
My neighbour has been a resident for 2 years. My dad was in for a month of respite recently. Unlike many other care homes, where the residents and their call buttons are mostly ignored, whilst staff chat amongst themselves or play on their phones, I've never seen the staff at Springkell House Care Home behave like this. The team are really friendly, patient, supportive, helpful, smiley and engaged with all the residents and check on them regularly (unlike many other care homes). My neighbour is bed-bound and the staff are regularly popping in to check on her, chat to her, ask her if she's okay or bring her a cup of tea etc. My dad was apprehensive about going into a home for respite, but he settled really quickly and was really impressed with Springkell. The staff were wonderful and Dad really liked all of the staff and they genuinely seemed to like him too. The food is good, the home is clean and well looked after, as are the residents. I'm kept up to date by the home and would definitely recommend.
Dad moved to Springkell House Care Home in December. We had a lovely welcome from the staff, who all came in individually and introduced themselves. Tea and coffee was brought to the room, together with biscuits. Dad has had a few medical issues which were dealt with promptly by the staff and I was kept informed throughout, with regular updates, excellent care from the nurses. Dad spends time with the other residents in the various lounges. He particularly enjoys listening and singing along to visiting musicians. Each time I visit the staff are so friendly and welcoming and I'm getting to know the other residents too. Dad, in particular, likes 3 pm when it's coffee and cake time. Dad enjoys the food and myself and mum joined him for Christmas dinner, which was lovely. The staff went above and beyond to make it a happy day for all. There are always plenty of friendly staff on shift, even at weekends, which is reassuring. I can't recommend Springkell House enough, it's everything a good care home should be.
My mother moved in recently and suffers with dementia. Her behavior has been challenging but the staff have been so supportive and helpful to not just my mother but myself and sister. I couldn't be happier with Springkell House Care Home.
Sprinkell House is a wonderfully warm and welcoming place, the staff are numerous, smiley and kind. The food is excellent and the home 'goes the extra mile' without any prompting, from the cheery tablecloths and flowers in the dining room to the clean and spacious individual rooms nothing is too much trouble. Minor niggles (and there are always some everywhere) are dealt with speedily, courteously and efficiently. A+ for that. Communication is excellent, and all physical and mental needs of the residents are well catered for. As deciding whether to move a loved one into a care home is such an emotional issue, Mum originally went to Sprinkell House for 2 weeks to 'try it first' but after 1 week she wanted to stay as she had made so many friends. She still says of the home as 'it's a lovely place to live, I'm really happy here', (after 2 1/2 years a resident). Very, very happy with the way Mum is cared for.
The lady I have some responsibility for is looked after extremely well, both physically and mentally. The staff are always courteous and helpful and are very used to dealing with people's diminishing capabilities in a respectful way. I have been very pleased with the care she has received for a number of years.
After 4 years of visiting Springkell, I can say, without exception, that all staff are sweet and kind and it feels like family when I visit. As well as a weekly hairdresser and GP visits, the home has its own physio and chiropodist, plus an optician/dentist calls yearly. Anyone who's tried arranging all these appointments for their loved ones and transporting them will know what a challenge that can be! The food is good, the home is clean, the bed linen is always fresh, and the residents are well turned out. The staff will always make the effort to get residents out of bed if the resident is well enough. There's a regular activities programme, including visiting entertainers, therapy animals, quizzes, bingo, games, etc. The residents recently enjoyed a trip to Southsea, and the annual garden party is enjoyed by all. One of the regular providers who visit many other care homes in the course of duty likes Springkell the best! This is a good home, caring and has amazingly kind staff.
I have got to know the staff at Springkell House Care Home very well, nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff members. They encourage my dad to take part in all activities he especially likes the musical acts as he enjoys singing along. They provide a first-class care service and are on hand to answer any questions.
My aunties couldn't have been better looked after - both now deceased, so a very big thank you to all the very caring and hardworking staff.
Springkell is a wonderful care home. From the time you walk through the door, you are greeted by happy smiling carers and offered a cup of tea, nothing is too much trouble. The atmosphere is one of a big family, all staff are kind and caring. My husband has just become a resident and he like all the other people is treated with dignity, respect, and kindness. The food is good and the rooms are kept spotlessly clean as well as the linen on the bed my husband is always well turned out. A certain member of staff and his team have created a lovely haven for its residents. If there was a 10-star available Sringkell should get it.
I am very happy with the care my wife is receiving at Springkell. She is deteriorating quite quickly in her cognitive state but that is the nature of her condition and not a reflection on the home or the staff.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to the manager, and every staff member at Springkell House. My mother is a resident and she is very happy, the staff are all so friendly and kind not only with the residents but also the families. The atmosphere is always so calm and the house is spotlessly clean. I would not hesitate to recommend this home.
My mum suffers from Alzheimer's, and we had been struggling to keep her safe even with care at home, so we made the decision to look into care homes. I was recommended Springkell by a colleague whose Mother had been a resident there. As soon as I visited, I got a wonderful feeling of it being like a family and the house itself like a family home. I cannot say enough about how much care, kindness and love all the staff show Mum. Nothing is too much trouble for her and indeed for me! Her room is spacious, freshly decorated, clean and cosy. There are so many activities for Mum to take part in if she wants to, including day trips! Relatives were recently invited to the annual pantomime, which was great fun for us all. Mum quickly settled and has a much better quality of life, no longer lonely or bored. Knowing that Mum is safe, loved and so cared for means I can be her daughter again rather than her carer, and I can never thank the staff enough for that.
