View Full Details of Esher Manor Care Home - Avery CollectionMy sister went into Esher Manor for one week's respite. It had been particularly difficult to persuade her to take this much-needed break from caring for her 104-year-old mother and the manager was endlessly patient while we made this difficult decision. Once there, I believe that my sister adapted quite quickly with the attention of the extremely gentle and caring nursing staff. She enjoyed the welcoming and peaceful atmosphere and spoke highly of the food. She enjoyed walking around the lovely garden. She didn't take part in the activities, being a rather solitary person. When she came home she seemed much rested and looked much better, just a pity that she wouldn't stay a bit longer. From an outsider's perspective, this is the nicest care home that I have viewed or visited.
My Mother has recently moved into Esher Manor. We couldn't be happier with the care and compassion the staff have shown to her. They have been welcoming, reassuring and incredibly professional. They have taken the time to get to know her and what she likes and dislikes. The atmosphere is calm, friendly and uplifting, and there is always something going on, whether it's music, crafts, word games, or just having company while watching a film. The home itself is bright, clean and comfortable, with thoughtful touches that make it feel homely rather than clinical. I've experienced a genuine warmth from the team. Communication with families is excellent too; I feel well informed and involved. Seeing my Mother settled, content and making friends, I am extremely grateful to everyone at Esher Manor for the outstanding care and kindness provided.
I chose Esher Manor for my 84-year-old sister last year who has mild dementia and was recently widowed. My wife and I used two comparative websites and drew up a short list of twelve care homes in the Surrey area. We then visited six of them. Esher Manor was by far and away the most welcoming and some were awful! Over the last 15 months, we have had no reason to regret our decision. My sister is happy, well-card for, has put on weight and seems to be enjoying activities - although this last is hard to track as she can't always remember what she has done. Esher Manor is certainly not cheap but, in my view, if you have the money, it is better than letting any government have it!
Staffing levels are insufficient leading to too long waiting times when requesting assistance. Staff needs to be taught how to handle unfamiliar situations. Staff, seek advice (carer caused me unnecessary pain and distress trying to remove a catheter by sloppily pulling it out. I could have explained her the correct procedure if she had talked to me). The apartment and communal facilities are spacious pleasantly decorated and well maintained. Possible useful addition would be 2-3 basic bikes, a jacuzzi, an indoor pool and a sauna.
This was my husbands first experience in respite care at a nursing home. He stayed for 2 weeks. He has vascular dementia and vascular Parkinsonism . The staff were very caring, friendly and efficient. He has benefited from the care and stimulation he received and he has come home a happier person. His walking is better and he joins in more with conversations . All in all a very good experience for both of us . Would not hesitate to recommend.
Mum spent 9 days at Esher Manor whilst myself and family went on holiday. She was understandably a little anxious before she went but once she arrived the staff were so warm, welcoming and kind, she was completely reassured. Whilst we were away, we were kept updated with emails and photos of Mum and the activities she was taking part in. There are numerous activities daily, which residents are encouraged to join in with but are not compulsory. When we arrived to collect Mum, she was so happy and relaxed and thoroughly enjoying listening to a singer. I would wholeheartedly recommend Esher Manor and would say the staff are nothing short of amazing!
After my foot operation I spent a week in respite care at Esher Manor. I found all the staff polite, friendly and very helpful. The room was well laid out and the bathroom facilities were excellent. As I was recovering from an operation I had all my meals in my room, the food being tasty and the room service from the staff being very responsive. If my situation ever warranted another spell in respite care I would certainly go back there.
After a stay in hospital my father needed further time to recuperate before returning home. The team at Esher Manor were quick to react to our request and were able to provide him with excellent care for his time in recovery before being able to return to his own home. Everybody involved in the running of Esher Manor from the care staff to the management were kind and diligent in the care for my dad. Thank you
I'm so pleased with the care mum receives at Esher Manor. The whole team are so welcoming, attentive and considerate. Mum has lived there for a year now, in reminiscence, and always speaks fondly of those that look after her. She loves all the musicians, activities and outings and is the happiest I've seen her for a long time. Avery was the right choice for us.
My aunt has been resident at Esher Manor since September 2021, and I cannot fault the care she has received. The staff show loving care and concern for her welfare including her mental wellbeing; they encourage her to join in with communal activities, and eat in the dining room even when she may express reluctance to do so. The staff communicate well with me when they deem any change to be necessary to her care, and are always willing to discuss issues with me when I ask. The quality of the food is excellent. Since I and other relatives live a very long distance away this all gives us peace of mind which is invaluable. The rooms are comfortable and spacious but can sometimes be over-warm. My criticism is of Avery accounts department; it is unbelievable that they are unable to issue a single invoice each month with the (prepaid) annuity amount subtracted. Fortunately I can do the mathematics myself but I am unable to set up a direct debit to pay the fees because of this.
I am always impressed with the care my Mum is receiving at Esher Manor. Whenever I visit she is happy, settled and fully engaged in whatever activities are happening. Without exception, I have always found the staff to be caring and attentive to all the residents, and I am so happy to see a relatively slow turnover of staff which means the staff really get to know the residents and the visiting families. Communication has been excellent and requests have been actioned without reminders being needed. Even mum's budgie is being well looked after!
My parents have regular respite periods and the staff are always extremely accommodating and caring. They require support with self-care in the morning and evenings and the staff are respectful and kind. They are always welcomed so warmly by the staff when they arrive, like they are coming home. Nothing is too much trouble and we are very grateful to all the staff from the administration to the caring. I would not hesitate in recommending this home.
Mum is very happy at Esher Manor. The staff were helpful in getting Mum to settle in. Mum enjoys the activities arranged for the residents, especially the music. The carers are kind and patient. Mum is treated with respect and dignity.
On the whole we are very happy with the care. Much kindness and support has been shown to us as a family and we know for certain that our father is safe at this difficult time in his life. Thank you. There have been times when a breakdown in communication has caused issues but this seems to be improving. One of the things we find hardest is understanding the strong dialects of some of the staff, particularly on the telephone. This does cause stress, especially in challenging situations e.g. phone calls to try and explain a serious health issues when an ambulance has been called out, or on day-to-day health and cleanliness issues. This leads to a need to repeatedly message and re-message to ensure a full understanding has been achieved. We are grateful for the energy and cheerfulness of all members of staff.
The Home are always friendly and approachable and take good care of our mum. The variety of activities are helping to keep her entertained and she certainly enjoys them, especially the singing. We receive regular updates and feedback from the Home regarding mum's condition or any treatments that are provided. Whenever we visit there are a number of caring staff on hand who all take time to talk and be with our mum, which we all appreciate.
I can't praise the home and the staff enough. My uncle is settled and healthy. There is great attention to detail; a wide selection of entertainment, pretty, changing decor and excellent food. I thoroughly recommend.
My Mother has now been a resident at Esher Manor for 18 months and as each month goes by I am reassured that we made the right choice in our selection. The services and care provided are second to none. Staff are extremely caring and look after all of my Mother's needs which at times can be complicated. The entertainment provided is excellent and much appreciated and enjoyed. We are enormously grateful for all your kind help.
Having seen first hand how much happier and safe my auntie feels in their hands I couldn't recommend this home enough. We were nervous about how she would settle in and the staff there have made this such an easy transition for her we can't thank them enough. She is entertained and so well look after.
Very unimpressed with the duty of care at Esher Manor (EM). EM was informed that Mum wasn't well and needed monitoring due to possible UTI and therefore likely to have a fall as previously happened. EM informed us she was fine, which we disputed at the time and asked for her to be monitored closely. An hour later, EM called to say Mum had had a fall & paramedics had been called. 10 hours in A+E, horrific bruising, swelling & 2 fractures to her face, which could have been prevented if EM had listened - not impressed at all. To confound matters, the manager of Esher Manor ignored us when we moved Mum out a few days later. Mum had been there for 2 years! The CEO of Avery Healthcare, who despite saying he'd 'look into the matter' (a phrase used far too often by Avery and certainly by EM) has not followed up (again something that happened often at EM).
From phone call to move in and beyond, the staff have been fully supportive and made the whole process as easy as possible. Great communication and such a lovely atmosphere. The food, room and level of care is outstanding. Regular activities arranged for residents and staff make all visitors very welcome.
