I'm writing a review today as it's now 12 months since my mother moved into Nower House. Mum lived independently until she turned 90 and it is now such a relief to know she is well cared for and all her needs met by the wonderful team at Nower House. The food is great and mum enjoys the social activities and being able to chat with other residents. It is a very friendly place and over the past 12 months I have enjoyed getting to know lots of the residents and staff so now it feels like I'm visiting a home. Thank you
My sister has been in Nower House for over a year. My husband and I are regular visitors and are very impressed with so many aspects of the care provided. The staff are kind, empathetic and supportive to the residents and there is a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere whenever you visit. The home is spotlessly clean, the food looks very good and so much thought clearly goes into the excellent daily activities arranged. We feel very reassured about the high level of care being given.
My Mother has been a resident of Nower House in Dorking for a year and is being looked after by enthusiastic and loving carers who understand the needs of all the different residents. The food is very good, varied and nutritious. There are many interesting activities in the Home and many visits arranged outside of the Home. Visitors are always made to feel welcome and part of the community,. It is always lovely to visit, not only my mother but, other residents too, and join in with their activities. It helps me to know that my Mother is in very safe hands at Nower House.
The Home has a welcoming friendly environment. The atmosphere is busy, and caring. The staff do everything to make the residents comfortable and safe. Always make visitors welcome too. The car park available at the Home has restricted parking and is not purely for visitors. This can be a problem when there is work being carried out at the Home. I believe there are other properties owned adjacent that could provide parking for workers which would free up spaces on the forecourt. The rooms are always clean and tidy. Television viewing is limited and could be improved with additional channels.
The staff are caring and we love the fact that we are able to come and go as if it was our Mothers own home ( which she thinks it is which is great ) There are so many activities and outings and the rooms are lovely and sunny and quite large. There is lots of space downstairs and the team there are always open to our whole family visiting for picnics etc in the gardens
My Mum moved into Nower House a few weeks ago and we are all delighted with how well Mum has settled into the home, and how welcoming and warm all the staff are. Its a pretty stressful time so for things to have gone so smoothly is a real relief. The house itself very much feels like a home, and all the staff have gone out of their way to make sure Mum has settled in as well as possible. We really couldn't be any happier.
We have been extremely happy with the care and support our mum has received at Nower. The carers are all so kind and personable, they genuinely care. Everyone has always been approachable. The food is lovely as well! Thank you
We have had outstanding support from the managers of the trust regarding my mother’s transition from her home to Nower House. The staff have been so welcoming and caring and my mother has settled in very quickly. She has a lovely room overlooking the hills of Dorking which is light, spacious and comfortable. My mother needs quite a lot of care at the moment and the staff have been very encouraging, kind and patient. The food is excellent and my mother really enjoys it, she is getting stronger by the day! Thank you Nower House for taking away all the worries of the past months.
I have nothing but total admiration for the care that this home and its staff provide for the residents. From the very top of the management to the lovely ladies and men who clean, provide food, provide a smile or just help the home do what it does to make the lives of the residents as happy and comfortable and ‘as home’ as they can. My mother lived here for 6 years, she was happy and at home. Every time I visited, the staff, no matter what their role, were courteous and friendly, they loved my mum. It was a joy to visit. I left every time knowing she was safe, well looked after, well fed, and in a happy place. She died peacefully in the home in February 2024. There is nothing more I could have asked for. It was her choice to go into a care home, I am so happy we found a place for her at Nower House. I thank you all, you were the best.
I cannot recommend the duty manager highly enough. She went above and beyond to accommodate every need. The home assessment was thorough and carried out promptly. She was compassionate kind and thoughtful at all times. On admission, two staff members in particular made the admissions and transition as pleasant as possible. If you’re looking for a private home that really does care, then this is the one for you.
Excellent carers, nurses, staff and management. The food was good with a selection, and chef was able to prepare meals for this usually vegetarian. There was a wide range of activities with choirs, singers, dancing, bazaar. Christmas Party and outings including wheelchair users. Everyone was welcome to join in activities. In the two weeks that I was there I participated in Yoga, Tai Chi and dancing. This was good to keep me moving approaching 90. The communal areas were spacious with dining room, 3 sitting rooms, conservatory, and an outside area that would be good in better weather conditions. Should I have a need to go into a Care Home this is the one I would like to go to.
My Aunt arrived in mid-October after a couple of falls at her home and in a fairly stressed state. She received a lovely welcome, she has been looked after brilliantly and is recovering well and getting stronger by the day. She only considered Nower House as she used to regularly visit a family friend a number of years previously, on arrival she was pleased to recognise and be recognised by a number of the staff who still work there. Nothing is too much bother for them, we are very happy that our Aunt has agreed to stay full-time and is no longer on her own. Thank you and keep up the great work you do!
I had to organise two weeks urgent respite care for my mother who is physically frail as my father was admitted to hospital. Sadly for us he passed away but I was so glad that Mum was being cared for so tenderly at Nower Care when this happened. It was such a difficult time for us all but the wonderful carers made sure mum was attended to at all times. She is now home with a live-in carer but I know that in the future if this situation should change and her health declines there is nowhere I would rather she be moved to.
My mother began her stay at Nower House on a respite care basis and she has remained there since. Mum's arrival at Nower House was at a time when the management was being taken over by Abbeyfield. I noticed that the motto under Abbeyfield's logo read: 'Making time for older people' and this is exactly what the staff and management do at Nower House. The level of professionalism, care and compassion is special. Equally and importantly, the staff are very practical and seem well trained in being sensitive to the individual needs of residents, with a high regard for their dignity and genuine efforts to understand what it is like to be a person of advanced years, relying very much on the help of others. Good food is served in a very pleasant dining room and various talented visiting entertainers are arranged from time to time, as well as occasional outings for those who are able to join them. My experience of Mum staying at Nower House has been very positive.
My mum is a resident at Nower House; she moved here in June 2021. She has a lovely room with great views and a little patio. We are very happy with the personal care and emotional support Mum has received over the past two years. This level of care for the residents was maintained during challenging Covid times and is down to the fantastic staff. Housekeeping is excellent, the home is kept very clean, laundry is processed quickly, food is good, and activities and outings are available. The staff make this home - they are caring, cheerful, friendly, hard-working, helpful and approachable. Thank you.
My mother came to Nower House after a long stay in hospital following a fall at home. It was a difficult decision to make, but the most important aspect for us was her safety; we no longer felt she was safe at home on her own. Any concerns we had about her moving into care were dispelled quickly by the staff at Nower; they are friendly, attentive and caring. Within a very short space of time, they all knew Mum’s name. There was a wonderful entertainer in full flow the day we arrived and that made settling in very easy. Regular activities and entertainment activities are booked by Nower and there are regular trips out throughout the summer months, which Mum really enjoys. Mum has done more in the three months she has been at Nower then she probably did in the last three years at home! Regular weekly visits by a local GP to Nower House mean residents are also well-supported, medically. Knowing that Mum is safe and happy is the most important thing to us; at Nower we know she is.
My mum had to enter The Nower in April, which I found very difficult, however, what a wonderful caring home it is. Mum has settled well, all due to the help of all who work there. It is a happy place with lots provided for all. Outings, singers, artists, hairdresser etc. The chef is amazing, the meals are great and homemade cakes to scoff. All those there have made the transition for Mum and myself so much easier. A big thank you to all.
My Mum was a resident at Nower Care for 3 years prior to her death in May 2022. The care home and the staff were magnificent. Always patient and understanding in their care for Mum from the moment she arrived in May 2019 until the end of her life; always with loving kindness and preserving Mum’s dignity and comfort. Thank you to all the staff.
My mother, aged 94, needed a place to stay for 4 days while she had building works done on her house. Nower Care took her in at short notice, this is her second stay, the last one being a couple of years ago. The staff are very friendly and caring, many of them are still there and remembered my mum. Her room was clean and comfortable. She enjoyed her stay, I would definitely recommend it.
Whenever I have visited Nower Care for over three years, there were always activities going on for the residents. The home was spotlessly clean, the staff were very friendly and my friend was really happy there. She was kept clean and well dressed and often told me how nice the food was and that she was in the best place. I would like to thank all the staff at Nower Care for all they did in looking after my best friend. Thank you very much.
