My mother has been a resident for 6 weeks now, and from the start she has been cared for really well. All of the staff have been so kind in helping her to settle in and involve her with activities that she really enjoys. She has made friends very quickly amongst the residents and the staff.
This is a lovely, homely, and well-maintained care home surrounded by beautiful gardens. The staff are so welcoming and the management of the home is excellent. My Mum has advanced dementia, but she seems content, is very well cared for, and enjoys her food! She clearly likes the staff, who work hard to make her feel comfortable and included. I really appreciate the relatives' meetings to keep us informed, and an excellent training session run by the Activities Manager to better understand dementia. I love the way that Saxonwood encourages other groups from the Battle community to engage with the residents - such as a very enjoyable intergenerational art session with local playgroup, primary and secondary school children held recently. Communal areas have recently been redecorated to a high standard, and the layout of the bright, comfortable lounge thoughtfully redesigned to facilitate a range of activities, rest and conversation. I am very happy that Mum is living at Saxonwood.
My mother( who has been a resident in Saxonwood for almost thirteen years) recently celebrated her 100th birthday. I had originally booked a local restaurant for a gathering of family and friends, but the venue cancelled this a week later. As it transpired, this was highly fortuitous, because the team at Saxonwood stepped in and accommodated us all. The level of service and quality of food were beyond what we would have otherwise received and the care and attention lavished upon us all was incomparable. Every member of staff, whatever their role, made everyone feel so welcome, for which I am eternally grateful. Special thanks to chef and her brigade!
A lovely sunny and warm weekend in the lounge, visiting Saturday afternoon and Sunday Morning, he was quite relaxed and content. The afternoon visit was more laid back, chatting a little with the resident, then several of the others and one other visitor. Things picked up with tea and dinner, so I left to go and cook mine. Sunday ... and he was deep in the observer... and a hot chocolate. The county life and history magazines were welcomed but more important matters no dust prevailed! It was time for lunch and he was hungry and so was I a little peckish, so away to cook my own lunch after a good visit.
Saxonwood had been referred to us by several people as a warm, happy place with excellent care. I have not been disappointed. Since my sister moved in she has been treated with the utmost respect. She has complex needs but always feels supported and included in all activities etc. My sister is happy and secure here.
A very welcoming care home. My mum spent a short respite break at Saxonwood and the staff made her feel very much at home and special. The building, especially the lounge, is bright and airy and her room was very comfortable and easily accessible.
Saxonwood Care Home is a haven for my Mum. She is warm and well cared for by genuinely kind staff. The food is specially prepared for her and as she says she doesn't have to shop, cook, or wash up, she just has to eat! She is a joy to visit because she is so glad of this place.
I cannot give a high enough recommendation for Saxonwood. The level of care, respect and integrity given to residents by all the extremely attentive and diligent members of staff is the level many other care homes should aspire to.
Saxonwood Care Home staff and facilities are very good as are the food, drinks and the rooms are lovely. All in all a very nice place for respite care and residential care.
Staff are caring and Saxonwood is always being cleaned and the office. Staff keep us informed of any problems e.g. If closed regarding Covid or other problems.
Saxonwood has been wonderful to my 94-year-old neighbour. The care has been exemplary and she has been treated with dignity at all times. She has improved in confidence and offered encouragement at all times. I have no hesitation in recommending Saxonwood for either respite or long-term care.
The staff are all very patient and helpful to my mother as she struggles both in her efforts to live around other people and in dealing with her medical difficulties. They encourage Mum to take part and engage with other residents in the many different activities which take place. Her quantity and range of food eaten has expanded with the excellent home-cooked meals, occasionally celebrating festivals with mild versions of dishes from across the world. I feel confident Mum is well looked after.
The Saxonwood staff are always polite and have smiles on their faces and in their voices on the phone whenever I telephone or visit which makes for a lovely atmosphere and community. My uncle is offered daily activities to participate in covering a good range of interests and helping to promote health e.g. chair exercise sessions. He has his own space to retreat to when he feels like it and that overlooks a lovely garden area. I am very happy that my uncle is getting good care and seems to be thriving better than when he was at home alone.
From making our first contact through to Mum moving in and staying over the last months I have felt confident that Saxonwood was the best choice of care home for Mum. All the staff is caring, professional, and well trained and put the residents at the centre of all they do, this includes the catering, maintenance, housekeeping, activities, and management teams as well as the carers. The residents are offered a nutritious and varied choice of food each day. The activities program excels and leans towards a variety of subjects including music, entertainment, spiritual, nature, craft, reminiscing, quizzes, gardening, and much more. The care I have observed is always professional, respectful, and done with dignity. The resident's rooms are kept clean and well-maintained. When visiting, I am always welcomed and never restricted and I find myself being able to enjoy time with Mum rather than worrying about her - that is down to the Saxonwood team and for which I am truly thankful.
Saxonwood is extremely well run and the staff are without exception kind, caring, professional and friendly. The home is set in nice gardens at the end of a private road and the lounge and dining room are bright and sunny. It is always really clean and well-maintained. There are twice-daily activities which reflect the seasons and topical events - a lot of effort goes into this which many residents really appreciate. The food is freshly prepared, of a high standard and caters to all tastes and diets. There is excellent communication between the staff who are always well informed and they work as a great team. It is very difficult placing a loved one into a care home and I am so pleased we found Saxonwood. My mother has lived here for a year now and I am extremely grateful to all of the dedicated staff who take such good care of her.
Saxonwood is everything one could ever hope for within the care environment. It exceeds expectations in all areas, from the cleanliness, attention to detail, food and entertainment and we feel extremely lucky our loved one is being cared for by such kind and devoted staff.
My mother has been living at Saxonwood for almost four years now and I am delighted with the standard of care. Saxonwood has an absolutely wonderful team of friendly and caring staff. Standards of cleanliness and hygiene are outstanding and my mother always says that the food is excellent. The management team are wonderful and it is always easy to speak to one of them if I need to. They are great at communicating with relatives, always keeping us informed of any news and sending us the weekly list of activities. They also maintain a relatives social media page and post photos every day, which is always lovely to see. I am hugely grateful to all the team at Saxonwood and I have never doubted that I made the right choice when I chose a care home for my mother. I would highly recommend Saxonwood to anyone looking for a care home in the area.
I have found the care for my brother and his wife to be excellent. The carers, medical assistants and management team are very dedicated and treat the residents as though they were their own family. The food is excellent and well thought out and different activities take place daily.
My dad has lived happily at Saxonwood for nearly three years. I am confident that he is very well cared for and am grateful to all the staff at Saxonwood. His room is comfortable and always very clean. Dad enjoys all the meals - the food is excellent. I appreciate being able to visit at anytime and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. There are many varied activities for residents and visitors to participate in. Dad looks forward to the regular church services held in the lounge. We have also enjoyed the special family events - garden party, barbecue, art workshops. This year, the Saxonwood team gave Dad a wonderful 100th birthday party, which the family were able to attend. I am so pleased I chose Saxonwood for Dad and we really feel part of the Saxonwood ‘family’. Thank you.
My mother moved into Saxonwood Residential Care Home in March 2023, having spent the previous nine weeks in hospital. While in hospital, Mum seemed to have given up on life and looked very weak and lethargic. My brother and I have seen a vast improvement in Mum since her move to Saxonwood. She now looks much healthier and happier. Although she seems to be reliving her much younger days a lot of the time, she also appears to be taking an interest in what is going on around her and I'm sure the staff and various activities have been a big influence in her improved health and motor skills. Being around other people has also been beneficial, as Mum had been stuck at home on her own for a few years. Having been a keen gardener, she also loves the view from her room and being taken out in the garden in her wheelchair.
