Interesting. Most impressed by the Christmas Fayre at the end of November, the work the staff put in was great. Terrible day but a good total towards Help the Homeless.

I would like to thank the wonderful team on the ground floor for their superb care of my mother. At a recent hospital appointment the consultant was very impressed by the comprehensive notes and information I was given to take to the appointment by the team. It appears this is not what they normally
see, but it is standard practice for Southlands Place. The consultant also commented on how well cared for her skin is. "You are somewhere very special" were his words to her. We know that. My mother is cared for so well and not just physically as her emotional wellbeing is just as important to them.

My husband was admitted onto the 2nd floor, very much mentally alert but in reality at the end of life, and I was unable to continue looking after him at home. Not only were the staff professionally competent and personally engaging with him as the resident, but I feel that that they all equally
supported me and my emotional needs at such a challenging time. The environment of the home is light and bright, for residents able and inclined to take part in activities there is plenty to occupy them, the food is plentiful and generally of a high standard, and the flexibility of visiting second to none. In my husband's last week on a syringe driver, I was able to stay in his room overnight, and was able to feel a part of his life closing down, in a very comfortable and compassionate way.

A lovely setting, with a very caring and kind nursing team. Southlands has a calming feel to it, and I always feel welcome when popping in to visit.
I am very grateful that my father is able to be a resident and receive the care he needs, to support with a nasty degenerative illness.

Mum arrived in a poor state of health after 16 weeks in hospital. Slowly but surely and with great kindness, care and expertise, the staff helped her settle and rest relax and repair giving her a wonderful last year of life. She had company, fun activities, parties, entertainment- a full social
calendar! As her life was drawing to a close the care was sensitive as were the meetings with family. She was at peace, looked beautiful and we were so touched. Thank you.

Lovely modern facilities. Calm, happy atmosphere. Staff are friendly and helpful - especially in the dining room on the 1st floor. Lots of fun activities.

Very friendly staff, plenty of spaces to move around and sit and chat.
Nice and clean.
Lots of festive decorations.
I look forward to seeing how my grandad embraces the experience.

I am so grateful that my wife is in such a lovely place.
The staff are so kind, patient and understanding of her condition.
Could not be better.

Southlands Place provides outstanding person centred care, treating clients with dignity and respect. Staff put all the residents first, and nothing is too much trouble even when they are busy.
As a personal assistant to a resident whom I take out on a weekly basis, I liaise with activities
assistant, nurse practitioners, incl. care staff, all of whom are kind, friendly and approachable.

I am so pleased with Southlands Place for my elderly 103 year old friend. He initially came in for respite yet after a short while we came to the conclusion that he would be much happier and safer at Southlands Place care home after having several falls at home.
He has not had one fall in
Southlands place and I regularly cook him if he is happy and comfortable to which he replies "oh yes I am quite comfy here and the stay are lovely" I never thought I would hear him say that as he never liked the idea of a home yet Southlands Place has stayed up to the mark.

Wonderful, friendly staff. Pleasant surroundings. We didn't realise we had to phone prior to coming to eat lunch with my friend (misinformed), but were made welcome anyway.

I am very happy with my mum being at Southlands Place. The staff are very friendly and seem to really care about their clients.
The building is bright and welcoming with a bistro area near the reception that gives off a good vibe.
There are activities to do daily if one wishes, singing, arts and
crafts, film afternoons, bingo, music and memories etc.
There is a dinning room if one wishes to socialise. With a lounge and dinner room area on each floor with other rooms to sit in quietly if one wishes.

My father-in-law has now been at Southlands for a year. During this time I have nothing but praise for the entertainments girls. Every month there is a different theme and it is always a pleasure to walk in. Their recent autumn window is amazing from the outside I thought the drawings were stencils,
but no, everything to my amazement was hand drawn! They are a credit to the home.

The staff are amazing, very kind and caring and nothing is too much trouble. Although cleanliness almost everywhere is good, sometimes my mum's room has not been hoovered as often as I think it should be. Food, I think there could be more emphasis put on vegetables and salads, especially in the
summer.

Wonderful care home- all staff very lovely helpful and friendly. Helped my brother out no end and make him comfortable and very welcome.

Staff are helpful & attentive. The home is clean and touches such as decent curtains & lamp shades make a homely environment. Multiple activities available. Considerate nurses. Lovely garden. Best care home in the area. I'm grateful my aunt is now a permanent resident.

Our Mum moved to Southlands on December 27th 2024 after spending many weeks in hospital. Initially Mum was very confused, scared and vulnerable. Over time Mum started to settle, put weight on and gained some friends who she readily speaks to. We feel very much that Mum's stay at Southlands has been
very positive and her care and dignity has been one of respect and caring.
The only reason we are moving here is to be closer to us as a family, the distance is very difficult to arrange visiting. We are an hour and a half away. We are very happy to have us near her again but grateful for all the support Mum has been given.

My mother stayed at Southlands as a respite resident for a couple of weeks and had a warm and friendly welcome, settling in very quickly. This has helped us to make a decision to change this to permanent residency. We have nothing but praise for the staff who are approachable and friendly but also
importantly very experienced and efficient. My mother has really enjoyed the activities she has joined in with during this time. Southlands does not have the institutional feel (or smell) that so many homes seem to have and visitors are always welcome.

My father was hospitalised in 2022 with sepsis and pneumonia. On discharge, his old care home did not meet his needs and he was transferred to Southlands Place in August 2022 since that date he has thrived.
The care he receives is excellent on both the domestic and the medical side.
He is known to
both care and management staff. He is treated with kindness and respect. His physical needs are met promptly and professionally and staff attempt to engage with him frequently each day despite his dementia and deafness.

Comfortable, and satisfied with care received.
