Southlands Place

I came to visit my sister and brother-in-law. Everything I saw and experienced was excellent. So lovely to see my family well cared for and happy. We were made so welcome by all staff and a pleasure to visit. Look forward to the next time. Thank you all so much.

Great bistro area so you can take your family member to have a coffee and cake in a different setting and they have a lovely garden that you can sit out in when the weather is good.

I have nothing but praise for the hardworking and dedicated staff at Southlands Place. The home itself is modern, bright, airy and well equipped. The facilities are good and there is a range of interesting and varied activities. But it is those who work there who make Southlands Place an outstanding care environment. There is cheerfulness throughout and my wife - who was resident for 3 months - was treated consistently with warmth, kindness and professionalism. As a visitor I always felt welcome and always felt able to discuss concerns and progress with management, care and nursing staff.

From first impression, the home was clean, bright and airy, well maintained with a positive air about it. Staff are friendly and approachable and seem that nothing is too much bother. Will go out of their way to facilitate requests. Very happy that mum is here.

My father celebrated his 100th birthday in March 2026. A small family party was arranged by Southlands Place staff throughout the process from the initial enquiry to the event on the day, nothing was too much trouble. Management and reception staff were supportive and efficient, care staff were friendly, caring and professional, and catering staff produced a buffet and cake of very good quality and suitable for the occasion. On the day the room was decorated brilliantly and arranged in such a way that conversations could be had and photographs taken. All in all a great day. Thank you Southlands.

Southlands Place has all that you would expect from a very good care home facility, but in my short experience so much more: A welcoming, open atmosphere with plenty of light, airy space. Celebrating Christmas, Chinese New Year, Mothers Day etc with cheerful decorations and activities, bringing the outside in. This is outstanding and unusual to find in my experience. Found resident/relative meetings for suggestions are a breath of fresh air. Good team work creates a calm atmosphere in often challenging times. Impressive attention to care and detail, involving family to resolve difficult issues at a sad and difficult time, is very welcome.

I have been in Souhlands Place for two weeks and have met with nothing but kindness from all the staff. The room is lovely and everywhere is spotlessly clean. The food is very good and although I have a liquid diet there is not much the chef doesn't manage to puree. All in all this is a very comfortable place to be.

Southlands home is always warm and welcoming, and all the staff go above and beyond to make my mum feel comfortable and happy. We also had a wonderful mother's day lunch, which was delicious. Thank you for everything you do for my mum.

I have been at Southlands Place for just over two years. I find the staff very helpful and willing to assist when necessary. It is of great comfort to me that staff are on hand to assist 24 hours a day if I need them. My son and daughter were able to accompany me to a lovely mothers day lunch, which we all enjoyed. There are lots of different activities laid on. I particularly enjoy the musical ones.

Interesting. Most impressed by the Christmas Fayre at the end of November, the work the staff put in was great. Terrible day but a good total towards Help the Homeless.

I would like to thank the wonderful team on the ground floor for their superb care of my mother. At a recent hospital appointment the consultant was very impressed by the comprehensive notes and information I was given to take to the appointment by the team. It appears this is not what they normally see, but it is standard practice for Southlands Place. The consultant also commented on how well cared for her skin is. "You are somewhere very special" were his words to her. We know that. My mother is cared for so well and not just physically as her emotional wellbeing is just as important to them.

My husband was admitted onto the 2nd floor, very much mentally alert but in reality at the end of life, and I was unable to continue looking after him at home. Not only were the staff professionally competent and personally engaging with him as the resident, but I feel that that they all equally supported me and my emotional needs at such a challenging time. The environment of the home is light and bright, for residents able and inclined to take part in activities there is plenty to occupy them, the food is plentiful and generally of a high standard, and the flexibility of visiting second to none. In my husband's last week on a syringe driver, I was able to stay in his room overnight, and was able to feel a part of his life closing down, in a very comfortable and compassionate way.

A lovely setting, with a very caring and kind nursing team. Southlands has a calming feel to it, and I always feel welcome when popping in to visit.

I am very grateful that my father is able to be a resident and receive the care he needs, to support with a nasty degenerative illness.

Mum arrived in a poor state of health after 16 weeks in hospital. Slowly but surely and with great kindness, care and expertise, the staff helped her settle and rest relax and repair giving her a wonderful last year of life. She had company, fun activities, parties, entertainment- a full social calendar! As her life was drawing to a close the care was sensitive as were the meetings with family. She was at peace, looked beautiful and we were so touched. Thank you.

Lovely modern facilities. Calm, happy atmosphere. Staff are friendly and helpful - especially in the dining room on the 1st floor. Lots of fun activities.

I look forward to seeing how my grandad embraces the experience.

Could not be better.

As a personal assistant to a resident whom I take out on a weekly basis, I liaise with activities assistant, nurse practitioners, incl. care staff, all of whom are kind, friendly and approachable.

He has not had one fall in Southlands place and I regularly cook him if he is happy and comfortable to which he replies "oh yes I am quite comfy here and the stay are lovely" I never thought I would hear him say that as he never liked the idea of a home yet Southlands Place has stayed up to the mark.

Wonderful, friendly staff. Pleasant surroundings. We didn't realise we had to phone prior to coming to eat lunch with my friend (misinformed), but were made welcome anyway.
