Southlands Place is located in a quiet residential area in Bexhill-on-Sea, providing quality dementia, residential and nursing care for up to 71 elderly residents on a permanent and short stay basis.

With views of the coast and beautiful countryside visible from the dining room and terraces it really is a tranquil environment. There are various lounges that are perfect for socialising, a hair salon, private dining room, bistro, cinema and a stunning landscaped garden for residents to enjoy.

The social atmosphere is enhanced by a comprehensive and flexible program of activities which focuses on physical and emotional health while looking to make the most of community links and personal interests. Every room has been designed and furnished to the highest standard. Every bedroom features ensuite facilities, ground-floor rooms have private access to the landscaped gardens, and staff encourage residents to add personal items to help create a homely atmosphere.

From the onset initial visit, we (brothers and myself) were given a lovely welcome and viewing. We noted the cleanliness, tidiness and very little smell. As in other homes. The staff have been approachable and helpful especially with the initial settling in of my sister. I am pleased there is now a
minibus available for trips out and more activities are being organised. Since beginning my review to now (Jan) I feel most of the ratings I have given have greatly improved. Thank you.

Four weeks ago we transferred my father 250 miles to Southlands Place to be near his family and I visit him every day. Dads care home is very impressive especially the quality and level of care he has thus far received. From the manager to the staff caring for Dad on the dementia unit, the care is diligent,
professional and caring. Dad is responding positively which is wonderful. The building looks new and like a hotel! Despite being blind, underweight and lame Dad is extremely well fed with excellent nutritious food and taking new tentative steps in walking. Dad coming here is the best move for him and I'm delighted.

Environment, food, attitude of care/nursing staff always first class. Absolutely no complaints and always a pleasure to visit reception and second floor.
Had very little dealings with management, who are found "distant" - however, with no complaints, one can only suggest they are doing as good a job
as the nursing staff.

My mum has been in the home for 2 years with dementia and now needing full nursing care. I can only speak for those staff that work on the 1st floor but I am sure the excellent care my mother gets is what all residents receive in the home. The staff are friendly and spend a lot of time with the residents,
the entertainment is good and suitable for all needs. The home is clean and warm and has a homely feel. The main reason for this review is to praise the staff who are the very best at what they do, the dedication and consistent strive to meet all the needs of every resident is amazing. I go to the home every day at different times and every time I leave I know my mum is very well looked after. Thank you Southlands Place.

We found the staff extremely caring, compassionate and friendly.
It did seem that the home was short staffed but the staff, carers and nurses that were there could not be faulted.
The room mum had was lovely, clean and spacious and her bed very cosy and comfortable.
I'm sure everybody there helped
to make mum's final days there as comfortable and peaceful as they could.

I cannot praise the manager and staff highly enough for the care and commitment they gave to our mother in her short stay at the home. Unfortunately, she was not able to appreciate her surroundings or care and died very shortly after being admitted. However we, her family did appreciate it and felt

We are so grateful for the care given by all the staff at Southlands. My mother was there for respite of two weeks. this service, suitable for my mother's needs, has not been easy to find but from the first home visit, we knew by the questions asked that mum would be well cared for. This was the case
as she returned home saying she would like to go and stay again. Best review we could ask for. Thank you for caring for my mother as if she were your loved one.

I was more than delighted to be able to move my husband into Southlands from a 3 month long stay in hospital. I found the manager welcoming, warm, a pleasure to talk to and very efficient and thoughtful. I viewed 6 homes and decided on Southlands because it was value for money compared with cheaper
(but I couldn't feel happy with them) and one more expensive but offering a similar environment. Food was wholesome. I have to stress that any niggles are minimal compared with comfort and care. The improvement in my husband is amazing. Thank you Southlands from the bottom of my heart.

Wonderful state-of-the-art, newly built care home with spacious en-suite rooms and beautifully furnished sitting and dining rooms. But best of all, the staff were fantastic, both caring and professional. My mother could not have been better looked after.

After three very distressing weeks, with my father in and out of hospital. He was assessed by the Southlands manager. Her understanding and compassion for our desperate situation meant that my father did not have to spend another weekend in hospital. He is now settled and safe in Southlands. Staff and
management have been amazing, so supportive. Southlands does not have a nursing home feel as my father would not tolerate that. It is a beautiful place, so bright and cheerful, it lifts the spirit. Residents and relatives are treated with respect and kindness. It feels like home, a truly holistic environment.

My 90-year-old cousin moved into Southlands Place after a hip replacement. She needs nursing care due to moderate dementia and relative immobility. It is a new home which is light, airy and well appointed. Her room is bright and comfortable with en-suite facilities. The staff are very caring, friendly
and efficient, spending a lot of time ensuring that all the resident's needs are met. I had lunch in the home and the choice, quality and quantity of food was excellent.

I am very impressed with the nursing home. It is clean/tidy and everyone of the staff are friendly and caring. Also very helpful with any questions or problems, my friends was very disorientated and upset at her move from hospital but the staff were very able and kind to her, we felt quite happy at

My mother, who has dementia, recently had 2 weeks excellent respite care at Southlands Place. It is a wonderful care home with very caring, friendly skilled staff led by an inspirational manager. The brand new care home is beautiful with excellent well appointed facilities. The varied daily activities
were just what my mother needed to keep her stimulated. When we collected my mother she had a healthy glow, was happy and relaxed which is testament to the excellent care she received at Southlands Place.

Southlands Place has numerous facilities in a purpose designed, new building in a pleasant location. Excellent care is being provided and once there are more residents it is expected that the variety of activities will increase even further. Early days yet but huge potential to be a wonderful care home.

The care staff and nursing care were excellent. Nothing appeared too much trouble for them and they undertook their duties with skill and care and always appeared friendly and concerned for ones welfare.
The kitchen staff were excellent and the food was of a high standard.
The administrative staff
were also excellent and always available to deal with any queries one might have. I could find no fault with this care home. Service at meal times was also very good.

A very welcoming atmosphere was felt on my visit to Southlands Place both from the staff and very pleasant bright and fresh surroundings. My mother has settled quickly into her new home and we have every confidence that she is being well cared for by everyone at Southlands Place. Each time we visit

Job Title: Home Manager

I am proud to have been promoted from Deputy Manager to Home Manager at Southlands Place.


As a registered general nurse, I started out my career at Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre working in the intensive care unit specialising in brain trauma and injury, supporting patients with neurological deficits. From there I transferred my skills to working with residents living with dementia. I have previously managed Nursing Homes and supported the needs of a diverse range of residents.


As Home Manager it is important to me that our residents receive the care and respect that they deserve and that they see this as their home and family. Every day my team want to make a difference in our residents’ lives, seeing a smile on their faces and laughing makes everything worthwhile.


I have an amazing team around me and It is important to me that my team are supported in their roles to assist our residents, as well as giving them the opportunity to develop and learn new skills as this is what has helped me throughout my career. We are all passionate and committed to making Southlands Place home for all.


I have lived in the local area for over 25 years and my favourite aspect is the seafront as well as the close community spirit, including the strong relationships that our home has with the local community. Outside of work, I enjoy running and reading, as well as walking my dogs and spending time with my family and friends.
