View Full Details of Tusker HouseAt what was a terrible time for my mum and the family, I cannot thank Tusker House enough for the beautiful time and care they have given to Mum, plus the very comforting understanding they have shown me. Mum is safe, cared for, is clean and eating well again and is more social than she was living at home.
My mum has been a resident of Tusker House since may 2025.She settled in well. The staff are very professional yet friendly. I am kept informed of mums wellbeing including health and emotional as well as social. Mum is cared for with dignity and kindness in a way that you would want your loved one cared for. The home offers activities on a daily basis and it has many lounges to sit and relax. A conservatory and a garden space to allow for a change in environment. The meals are all made on site and the menu looks well balanced .nutritious and varied. You can even join your loved one for a meal should you wish. Just tell them in advance to avoid disappointment. I am happy that my mum is living here as she is relaxed and happy. I have no hesitation in saying that Tusker House is a well run, safe, friendly home that provides a lovely place to live. The bedrooms are clean and spacious and mum has all her familiar items around her which adds to making it very homely and comfortable.
I feel that my sister and my brother in law receive excellent care, consideration and help from the staff and management at Tusker House. They keep me well informed of any problems that may arise and of any recommendations from medical personnel that visit.
Tusker House is a lovely home, the staff are amazing, so friendly and never in a rush, always time to sit with the residents. From the moment my mum moved in she settled so fast and made friends, which we were so surprised with due to my mums approach on life and people. Food is all prepared and cooked in their own kitchen which is really good, would recommend staying for lunch some time.
My wife has been a resident for over 14 months, following two brief respite periods. As a retired social worker I have to say how caring the staff are. My wife is treated with dignity at all times and the staff are not only supportive of her, but they are very supportive to me. The staff has a good understanding of dementia and the varied spectrum of the illness. They are supportive of carers and the management engages positives with relatives and carers. Great place!
My father entered Tusker House for respite over two and a half years ago now and was recommended to remain due to a decline in his health. I cannot fault the care that he has been given by all members of staff over this time. And I thank the recommendation by a colleague every day knowing that he is well fed, in a safe environment, and cared for 100% by staff who really do know what they are doing. Tusker House is one big family! The effort that goes into making the lives of the residents as homely as possible is second to none. There are regular visits from entertainers, a celebrity impersonator is very popular! Just recently all the staff dressed up for Halloween and there was a small party. Dad recently turned 90 and the trouble they went to was so kind! A beautiful cake was made and shared amongst not only the family but all the residents too! It's a home-from-home, you can't get much better than that! I have no hesitation in highly recommending Tusker House!
Tusker House Care Home was recommended to us by a service user's husband and that was the best thing that could have happened. The staff went over and above in the care that was given to her. They knew her likes and dislikes and when helping her to get up and dressed they helped her with her makeup. My sister was never a person who could talk with strangers but they managed to get her to go to the common room and sit with other residents. They played the music of her era and she could sing along if she wanted to. When my sister was poorly I was informed and the care she was given then was amazing. If you are thinking about a care home and are worried about it don't be. Tusker House is in my view the best.
After my Mum passed away in January 2022, I put everything into place to enable my dad to stay in the family home. Unfortunately, after several months, it became obvious to all that his condition had worsened and 24-hour care was needed. It was the hardest decision I have had to make but has turned out to be one of the best. The care Tusker House provides is second to none and my dad's wellbeing has improved no end. As a visitor, I am also made very welcome and all the staff are friendly and create a very happy atmosphere.
How time flies! I have Parkinson's Disease and I spent two weeks in the Tusker House care home in Pine Avenue, Hastings to give my wife a rest from taking care of me. I thought the care was of the highest order. The staff were very attentive and friendly and I could not fault them one little bit. The food was excellent and resulted in me gaining four pounds, whilst I was there. I don't think any home could have been better.
Following a recent decline in my mother's dementia and physical condition, it became apparent to our close family that Mum needed more professional care than we could provide at home. As with many families, we were nervous about "putting Mum in a home", so did some research including a site visit, and when visiting Tusker House for the first time, it immediately felt 'right' so we chose Tusker House to provide the ongoing care for Mum. Since Mum moved into Tusker House nearly four weeks ago, we have seen a significant improvement in both her physical and mental condition. The staff, without exception, provide a genuine caring service - almost treating the residents as their own family. The whole of our family is delighted with the way everyone at Tusker House looks after Mum - the whole experience from the initial contact with the owner, manager and senior staff, to our regular visits, has re-enforced to us all that we are so lucky to have Mum being cared for by people who really do care.
My great aunt stayed in respite care for 10 days whilst I had a wedding to attend and a mini break. It was her first time away from us and we were anxious for her as to how she would cope overall. Needless to say, she enjoyed being looked after by the staff and enjoyed all the food too! I knew she was in safe hands and needn’t have worried in the slightest. Thank you to you all for everything you did for us and for making my great aunt feel welcome right from the start. You are all stars!
My husband was made to feel very welcome at Tusker House, I was very impressed by the way the sitting rooms were set out. The staff are friendly and caring as is the manager. Drinks are offered frequently. The food has a lot of thought to the menus and dietary needs. Residents' safety and security are well thought through. I am very happy for my husband to stay here.
All the staff are very caring towards the residents and very friendly. The staff are always walking round the sitting room checking and talking to the residents. When we want to take Mum out, she is always ready for when we turn up. They are in regular contact to tell us of any changes to medication or if the doctor has been called etc. The whole place seems spotlessly clean and very tidy. The food always smells and sounds amazing. They have entertainment sometimes which sounds really good. They are very covid 19 aware and you are asked to wear a mask inside at all times. If you ever need to talk about any concerns you may have, they are always there to listen. They have lovely gardens to the front and rear and a lovely conservatory. There is also ample parking on site. I was impressed right from my first phone enquiry and they have been very professional from the start. I cannot fault anything.
Tusker House has provided our loved one with a safe place to live. The staff are professional, friendly, very caring, respectful and attentive. They provide an excellent activities service. The care home has a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. The kitchen provides excellent, varied menus and everything is cooked fresh. The premises, including our loved one's bedroom and bathroom, were extremely clean and we were able to personalise them. Our loved one was very happy and relaxed, enjoying the activities, food and company. They thought they were on holiday and told us the hotel was beautiful. The standards are exceptionally high and we were always kept updated, nothing was too much trouble. We are very grateful for the care and respect our loved one received and the very safe environment.
Tusker House came highly recommended by a friend who had worked there and, on meeting the manager and the team, we could see why. Lovely, family-run home, with a kind and caring atmosphere. Fine views from the lounge out over Hastings and the sea give the residents and staff an exceptional environment to live and work in. We always felt very welcome and were very glad of the time that the team were happy to take with us to help us with any decision-making about the care of our frail and elderly relative. I'd give them 11 out of 10.
Tusker House has provided our loved one with a safe, caring and ideal place to live. The staff here are professional, efficient, friendly, very caring and attentive. Activities are now returning and sound fun for the residents to participate in. This care home has a lovely atmosphere. The food is exceptionally delicious and he says how much he enjoys and looks forward to his meals. Even mid-morning and afternoon snacks with drinks are tasty. Our relative is very happy and contented, his bedroom and bathroom are very comfortable and scrupulously clean. The standards here are exceptionally high and we cannot fault anything regarding care provision.
My mother is 71 and a new resident at Tusker House. We have known the home for many years (other family members and friends' family members have also been past residents). Despite her progressive Alzheimer’s, Mum has settled very easily and we are confident that the care she is receiving is as anyone could hope for. It’s never an easy decision to make but rest assured that the staff there make the transition a smooth one. I have no hesitation in recommending Tusker House to anyone that is considering a care home for their loved one.
The thought of my sister needing a care home in the pandemic was initially worrying. My concerns could not have been more wrong. I was so pleased with how Tusker House kept everyone safe and Covid-19 free, against all the odds. Even when visiting restrictions were at their highest, it was reassuring to know that my sister was in such great hands. The staff kept us fully informed of all relevant information and even assisted her with video calls, which we found great fun. The care has been beyond my expectations, the staff really do care. It is so reassuring that she has forged new friendships with staff and other residents. Well done Tusker House.
My lovely aunt could no longer live alone and was moved to Tusker House in January - during the second wave. I'm sure it's a nerve-wracking experience at the best of times but not being able to go in the home and get a feel for the place, made it even more frightening - I really didn't know if I was doing the right thing for her, and I couldn't see her, for what seemed like forever. The home adapted the conservatory so that we could visit residents without exposing them to infection risk, and over the weeks and months, Auntie has responded to her new, safe environment and become increasingly relaxed. The dementia symptoms seem somewhat improved and I put this down to her being in a warm and caring environment. Carers I have met, the owner included, seem absolutely delightful and professional. Pandemic policies seem to have been more stringent than the government regulations from very early on and I think that this has paid off and kept COVID infections to a minimum. Highly recommended.
My dad has been a resident at Tusker House for almost a year now. The staff have always been very attentive allowing my dad to do what he can for himself; they are all very kind and caring. I am always kept up to date with my dads well being. During the pandemic, obviously, no one could visit their loved ones, however, Tusker House set up a WhatsApp video calling system and sent photos which we very much appreciated. The system that has now been put in place to visit residents is amazing, a lot of thought has gone into making it a safe environment for everyone. After not seeing my dad for almost 8-months, I was overjoyed to see how well and contented he was. I cannot thank everyone enough for the continued care they show my dad. I would highly recommend Tusker House to anyone that is looking for a care home.
