View Full Details of Wilbury Care Home LtdOur 94-year-old mother recently spent a month at Wilbury Care Home for a respite stay while we took a much-needed trip to visit our son and family in Malaysia. From the moment we arrived, we were reassured by the professionalism of the Manager and the genuine kindness and compassion shown by all the staff. Mum thoroughly enjoyed her time there, often taking part in the afternoon activities and engaging with the other residents. When we returned, she told us it had felt like a holiday which was very reassuring for us. She stayed in a lovely newly refurbished room that was bright, modern and had a large ensuite bathroom. Knowing that she was in such capable and caring hands allowed us to truly relax while abroad. We're incredibly grateful to the entire team at Wilbury Care Home for the comfort, support, and peace of mind they provided throughout her stay
My Aunt has moved into Wilbury in winter last year and she was immediately warmly welcomed by the manager, staff and residents. The atmosphere was very friendly and she quickly made friends with others there. Her room is newly refurbished and always looks clean, warm and cosy. Each time I visit I've found my Aunt engaged in fun activities. Her quality of life has vastly improved since moving to Wilbury, where she is well fed and cared for. Now with summer arriving she's also enjoying more outdoor activities and time in the garden. Thanks to the manager and staff at Wilbury my Aunt has found a new lease of life (almost aged 90!).
Mental decline of resident/service user meant her attorneys and I moved her south from the north. She had been in respite care after her house was burgled. My son and I were recommended Wilbury by someone who had read the review. Shown around by deputy manager we felt that it would be just right. Although respectfully asked if we wanted to look round any others both my son and I said no. A quirky place, presumably once a large gracious house, the lounge has outlook to the trees and wide road at the front. The dining room, with view of the garden, has good chairs not utilitarian ones. Feels like a B&B The newish excellent manager is changing some things. For example, handrails on both sides of the stairs; a new colour printer enabling better looking handouts to residents than b&w ones; refurbishments. Staff are brilliant with our resident. She said to me that she likes everything about it - the place itself, the staff, the other residents, the afternoon entertainment, the garden.
I am very grateful to Wilbury for looking after my mum who has Alzheimer's for the last 4 years. The caring staff, the ambience, the activities and the lovely location in Hove have all been so appreciated. My mum's care needs increased so she had to leave Wilbury but I never had a single worry about her while she was there. She was very happy and I have so appreciated the staff members there who have been so kind both to her and us as her family. Wilbury is truly a home and I thank everyone for their unfaltering care towards my mum.
From the moment, my sister and I walked into Wilbury Care Home, we knew it was the right place for our mum.. We visited lots of care homes before this one, each with the same smell !! Wilbury Care Home felt welcoming with a smell of home cooking and baked cakes.. The whole feel of the house was warm and comforting.. with helpful, happy staff.. The care that mum received could not have been better.. Mum was frail and had dementia.. She was looked after with dignity and always looked clean and happy.. The rooms were well furnished and comfortable.. The manager and staff were excellent and we felt that we could call in at any time and were welcomed.. We certainly made the right choice..
My aunt came to Wilbury almost 3 years ago. I thought she was on her way out. She had been in her flat with carers 3 times a day, but was despondent, didn't want to move from her chair, so was often left there overnight, didn't eat what they provided for her, which I have to say (considering I bought simple good food that needed hardly any cooking etc), was presented in terrible ways. In the 6 months before moving, she had fallen and been in hospital 6 times. The last time she went to hospital I refused for them to allow her back to her flat. Now, at Wilbury, my aunt walks up and down stairs, goes out 3 times/week with family/friends, gets up and dances when there's music, dresses like she used to, and most importantly has a social life both with other residents and with the younger staff. I want to be honest. I wasn't expecting this from a care home. I just was trying to ensure she was at least safe. I am very grateful to Wilbury for being a home, not just an institution.
This home is not suitable for residents with reduced mobility. Narrow tight corridors, heavy fire doors and a small slow lift that the door needs to be manually opened. There are a couple of staff that are uncaring. Some are lovely. The new manager is great and attempting to make great changes. Mum has moved to a new care home that is fantastic, her care needs are now being met, all the staff are so caring.
My mother has been at Wilbury for more than two years. The staff are really super and many have been there since before my mother arrived. This continuity has been incredibly important, the previous and much-loved manager has recently retired and it will be interesting to see what improvements or changes are made as a consequence. My mother loves the food and although she does not often choose to engage with activities (knitting, chair yoga etc), these are good to see. There are visiting hair and podiatry, which my mother needs reminding about by staff, the cost of these is obviously extra to fees. My mother is physically well (usually, although odd bouts of inevitable virus have been carefully managed by staff), and she's been able to continue to walk around areas she knows. Relatives are invited to occasional celebrations but free to visit any time. We are so glad we found Wilbury!
Wilbury Care Home is a proper home for the residents rather than an institution. The staff are outstanding and really make the atmosphere friendly, warm and welcoming. The food is home-cooked and looks tasty.
My mum has been there for nearly 2 and half years, I cannot speak highly enough for the care she received from the manager and her team, if it wasn't for the fact that mum became ill, she would have stayed. Big thanks and highly recommend it. Nice big homely lounge and great food.
I am very happy here. The staff are very kind, and I am very comfortable and well cared for.
We contacted the manager at Wilbury Rest Home to ask for respite care for my mother for a month (January 2024) as I, as the main family member living nearby, going to be away. My mother lives independently at 95 years old with just a few hours of care a week coming in to help her do laundry/make a meal/clean. She is fiercely independent and only agreed to stay at Wilbury because she knows and trusts the staff. She has stayed for a couple of weeks on two other occasions after falls. She feels very cared for, listened to and respected here. She was positively looking forward to coming in and has lovely relationships with many of the staff as they always find time to talk and are interested in her as a person. There is always an upbeat and friendly atmosphere with lots of laughter.
My Mum has lived in Wilbury for over four years now. She is now 91 and I believe her longevity is due to the great care and affection she is given daily. She has made friends and I have come to know the staff too pre Covid. Lovely place.
Great Care Home, lovely staff, always warm and friendly. The garden is beautiful with lots of sunshine. The general atmosphere is always calm and relaxed. The property is very nice with a grand entrance hall.
Thank you to Wilbury! I cannot praise it highly enough. My mums stay at Wilbury was very short. However, the level of care she received and the level of assistance I received went above and beyond all expectations. The manager is so helpful, and really really cares, this reflects through every aspect of Wilbury. He walked me through every part of my mum's care there. Always having time for me and any questions in his very busy day. The staff are so friendly and professional. The whole place has a lovely atmosphere. It felt like home for my mum and home for me when I visited her.
I am so glad I found the Wilbury for my mum. The staff are brilliant, friendly, thoughtful, patient and caring. They treat mum with great kindness and respect. We are made to feel welcome when we visit and a cup of tea and biscuits are always offered. The care manager is excellent. He welcomed mum from the very first meeting and has made her feel special and cared for. He always makes time for you and has done more to improve mum's health and well being than any other professional we have dealt with. The rooms are light and airy and there is a lovely garden for residents and visitors to enjoy. I have peace of mind knowing that my mum is safe and well cared for and that the staff will keep me informed.
Very good care and good staff.
Accommodation excellent. Care faultless. Food very good.
I have been here for nearly 5 1/2 years. I have been treated top grade all the time. May it continue. Aged 92.
Excellent, caring and thoughtful support for our mother. Regular committed staffing. Good food and a good range of activities. Communications regular and specific help was provided around a significant operation and medical follow up. Consultation around needs, expectations, changes in condition all excellent.
