View Full Details of Ferndale Residential Care HomeBoth of my parents have been resident at Ferndale, the staff are caring, honest, reliable and hardworking. The team care not only for their residents, but also the families of those residents. My mum particularly enjoys the daily activities and outings that the staff organise. I am happy that she is well cared for and respected at Ferndale. My Dad sadly died recently, and the staff were fabulous during this time. Dad's dementia had been quite challenging at times, but the staff had the competence to care and manage him, and the last year of his life was much more settled and his passing peaceful. My heart felt thanks to all the staff at Ferndale.
My elderly mother has moved in since the middle of February and have a language barrier as she doesn't speak English although she has been in this country for half a century. Staff at the home have been very kind, friendly and dedicated toward my mother's needs. She definitely is in a good place even she hasn't acknowledged it! My siblings and I are happy with Ferndale!
The staff are friendly and welcoming at any time. They have endless patience with some difficult residents. They are 'on the ball' with my friends needs. The meals are excellent. There is a good variety of activities during the week.
My mother has been a resident in Ferndale for almost 7 years. Over this long period I cannot fault the care my mother has received, including the very stressful time during COVID. There have been changes of management and staff in recent years but everyone has maintained the high standards of care and attention given to all residents.I feel confident that mum is well looked after within a kind and loving 'Ferndale family'.
Mum and Dad have been residents for the last few years. The care that they both receive is wonderful, nothing is too much effort and the staff go above and beyond to support them. Each parent has different needs and the staff are able to adapt and support their requirements. Whenever I have visited I have been made to feel very welcome. The home organise a variety of activities for the residents and it's lovely to see the residents happy and participating where they can.
Mum was a resident of Ferndale Residential for 2 years. She was made to feel welcome from day one. We her daughters, who all live abroad, could obviously not visit as often as we would have if we lived in the UK, were made to feel welcome and able to spend all day every day with mum when we did fly over. She was well cared for and loved by the staff. Almost the whole of her last year she was bedridden, the staff would go and sit with her in their free time, talking and reading to her, that is truly caring. The palliative care mum was given at end, well I can't praise it enough. Ferndale is not a home with all mode cons but who needs those when the care is first rate and the atmosphere happy and homely. I can recommend Ferndale for anyone looking for a safe, loving, caring home for their loved one.
My mother was a resident at Ferndale Residential Care Home for two years. She was received with open arms, the carers were wonderful and they became family to mum. She was clean and when possible had her hair done once a week. The food was always excellent and made fresh daily. On mum's final days, if my sister and I were not by her bedside one of the carers would come and sit with her so she was never alone. We were so lucky to have been able to have her at Ferndale.
My mum has been a resident since 2021 and has settled in well and is very happy and contented. The manager and all the workers are caring and really lovely towards her. They encourage Mum to make decisions and to participate in the daily activities that Ferndale put on for the benefit of the residents. Mum particularly likes the keep fit sessions. All of Mum’s needs are catered for including a hairdresser, optician, dentist and chiropodist. At every opportunity, there is an activity where family and friends are invited; coffee morning, lunch, tea, all to celebrate some event - Mother’s Day, Easter, Christmas, D Day to name just a few. My mum is safe and well cared for and I am kept abreast of how Mum is doing at every stage.
The staff were very good in settling Mum in on her first night, and one stayed on after shift to ensure she was OK with her first bedtime there. The staff were very reassuring to me and also my sister as we didn't want to leave mum. Mum had been living with me for three weeks prior to moving in. The staff are all very lovely and caring, and there haven't been any issues. Can't rate activities as Mum hasn't participated yet, as far as I am aware. The manager is very friendly and approachable, as are all the staff.
Our mum became a resident in late July 2023. The staff have been amazingly welcoming and kind and she has settled in extremely well. She is eating more than she was at home, is always clean and tidy and cheeky with the staff too. After losing our dad in April, putting Mum into care 3 months later was incredibly hard but the staff couldn't have been more supportive. I was advised to go and visit Ferndale when I was looking for care homes in the area and visiting several homes one Saturday. At one I went to (which didn't cater for Alzheimer's), I was advised by the staff there to go and see Ferndale as if I did I wouldn't want Mum to go anywhere else. I am so glad they told me to. As soon as I walked in I could see that Mum would be at home here and I was welcomed with open arms. The loving family vibe I got was instant and they ticked all my boxes.
This is an amazing Care Home. The Manager and every single person that work there showed our mum so much kindness and compassion during her stay, nothing was too much trouble. As a family, we were always made to feel welcome whenever we visited. Unfortunately mum passed away at Ferndale but the end-of-life care she was given was exceptional, for which we will be forever grateful. Highly recommended, thank you Ferndale.
I've been delighted with the improvement in our mum since we moved her to Ferndale in early January 2023; she has put on weight, is up and alert all day and is clearly enjoying her new environment. The staff are extremely caring and take time to make sure Mum is happy and well cared for.
My mum has been a service user at Ferndale for a few years. I could not have chosen a better place for her to live. She is well looked after, well-nourished, happy and contented. The staff are second to none. Friendly, caring and hard-working. I cannot thank the staff enough for all they do. For anyone thinking of placing a loved one in a good, safe facility, this should be your choice. The new manager is lovely and approachable. Thank you to you all at Ferndale!
I visited my mum today with my sister, and Mum was having a cup of tea and cake. She is well cared for and loved at the home. Everyone is very welcoming when we visit, and I know Mum is happy and safe there.
Dad was here for just under a year and sadly passed away in January. The end of life care given to him was outstanding we can't thank the management and staff enough for what they did for him and us. We will be forever grateful to them
Overall we are more than pleased with the care that our mother is receiving from all the staff at Ferndale. It is a great relief for the whole family that mum is safe and looked after. We were very fortunate that as our mother's care needs to be increased that Ferndale had the capacity and was able to accommodate her.
There are always lots of care homes to choose from when searching for one, but Ferndale is absolutely wonderful. My mum is a resident and has dementia. She is happy, content and very well looked after. The manager and her staff go above and beyond whilst taking care of everyone. During covid they were selfless in their care, living on-site and putting the resident's health before their own. I really cannot praise them enough for caring for my beloved Mum. Thank you to you all.
My Mum has been a resident of this home for over a year. Every time I visit I find all the staff very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. I am very impressed by the attention and respect they all provide to the residents. They make time to talk to me if I have any concerns and willingly amend my Mum's care plan to meet her individual needs. Staff run a tight efficient ship and it is clear that they will support the relatives and carers but the predominant concern is the welfare of the resident. All the staff come across as happy in their jobs and keen to do their best. I don't think we could find a better place for my Mum had we tried. A real gem of a place.
I just want to recommend this very special residential home, My mother has been staying there since October with advancing Alzheimer's. My main concern when she moved into the home was that she felt safe and content. The staff have been amazing taking a great deal of time to be with her, with endless patience and a real desire to get to know her and do the best for her. In the end it is the experience and kindness of the team that has made such a huge difference, I would highly recommend them.
The Staff are well trained and have a truly caring attitude, which they have shown to my wife and also to myself. My wife has been a resident for a year and I feel fortunate that we found such a good place as her Alzheimer's Disease progressed to the point where I could not keep her at home. I always feel welcome on my visits and the manager and staff are always ready to talk and to listen. Food has always been important to my wife and the chef prides herself in producing fresh meals daily from local ingredients. I am always welcomed to share a meal from time to time - hoping that the chef's bread and butter pudding will be on the menu! Ferndale may lack to "glitz and frills" of some other establishments - but for me and my family knowing that our loved one is truly cared for and valued as a person in this homely atmosphere is top of our considerations.
