Ferndale Residential Care Home

I'm always made to feel welcome as a visitor, fully part of the 'Ferndale Family'. There is a varied programme of activities to suit all, including armchair exercises, singalongs, games, craft, gardening, cooking and local outings. A recent Hawaiian themed BBQ for residents and families was great fun for all, with staff and residents dressing up!

Mandy is great and very on top of everything I really can't fault any of the staff Mason is lovely and very kind to the residents. I can't think of all of the names Franky is great at putting all the activities together and trips out. As a family, we are all really pleased Mum settled in really well Thank you to Ferndale and all staff.

She is also very friendly towards others having coffee and grateful for the service we provide

I visit Ferndale everyday and always find the staff courteous and helpful, the entertainment is always enjoyed by all the residents as well as the visitors. Birthdays and anniversaries are celebrated, wherever possible. Trips out are often arranged on a daily basis, my mother is happy there, therefore I am happy.

My mother moved into Ferndale 6 months ago following a couple of falls. During her time in hospital she had become bed bound. As soon as she moved into Ferndale the staff got her up and dressed. She even started to walk again.

The staff seem to genuinely care about the residents. My dad is always made to feel welcome and enjoys the delicious lunch when he visits. My mum is very happy there.

Ferndale is a very special care home. Our Mum is very happy living there. Placing your loved one in a residential setting is very stressful and daunting. The Manager and her staff are exceptionally experienced and enabled this difficult adjustment with professionalism but above all, with care. The care and attention to Mums personal needs and her well being has been outstanding. As a family, we are all so relieved to see her thriving in spite of difficult health problems. It is a relatively small occupancy home and every day, everyone is welcomed and cared for in the sitting room. There are regular activities and interests for the residents. Families are also very welcomed and made to feel part of the 'family' atmosphere. There is a lovely dining area and garden . Mum has received expert medical care and above all; a warmth and respect for her well being and personal dignity. She also has a lovely cosy bedroom. We will never be able to thank Ferndale Care Home enough.

Mum is very well looked after by the staff. The doctor was called when needed and ongoing care taken forward until the condition cleared up. Communication is good. The staff are very caring and if a problem is brought up, it is dealt with. The residents are given a choice of food and it all looks very nutritious. Care was taken during the summer with the heat. Plenty of activities are on offer in house as well as trips out.

Mum has now been a resident for 2 1/2 years. She is very happy and well cared for by the lovely caring staff. They have made Christmas very special for the residents once again. Activities and trips out are enjoyable. Ferndale is a very homely loving environment. Meals are all home cooked with fresh ingredients. Mum is at home there and safe, loves the staff.

Both of my parents have been resident at Ferndale, the staff are caring, honest, reliable and hardworking. The team care not only for their residents, but also the families of those residents. My mum particularly enjoys the daily activities and outings that the staff organise. I am happy that she is well cared for and respected at Ferndale.

My Dad sadly died recently, and the staff were fabulous during this time. Dad's dementia had been quite challenging at times, but the staff had the competence to care and manage him, and the last year of his life was much more settled and his passing peaceful. My heart felt thanks to all the staff at Ferndale.

My elderly mother has moved in since the middle of February and have a language barrier as she doesn't speak English although she has been in this country for half a century. Staff at the home have been very kind, friendly and dedicated toward my mother's needs. She definitely is in a good place even she hasn't acknowledged it! My siblings and I are happy with Ferndale!

The staff are friendly and welcoming at any time. They have endless patience with some difficult residents.They are 'on the ball' with my friends needs.The meals are excellent. There is a good variety of activities during the week.

Mum and Dad have been residents for the last few years. The care that they both receive is wonderful, nothing is too much effort and the staff go above and beyond to support them. Each parent has different needs and the staff are able to adapt and support their requirements. Whenever I have visited I have been made to feel very welcome. The home organise a variety of activities for the residents and it's lovely to see the residents happy and participating where they can.

I can recommend Ferndale for anyone looking for a safe, loving, caring home for their loved one.

My mother was a resident at Ferndale Residential Care Home for two years. She was received with open arms, the carers were wonderful and they became family to mum. She was clean and when possible had her hair done once a week. The food was always excellent and made fresh daily. On mum's final days, if my sister and I were not by her bedside one of the carers would come and sit with her so she was never alone. We were so lucky to have been able to have her at Ferndale.

My mum has been a resident since 2021 and has settled in well and is very happy and contented. The manager and all the workers are caring and really lovely towards her. They encourage Mum to make decisions and to participate in the daily activities that Ferndale put on for the benefit of the residents. Mum particularly likes the keep fit sessions. All of Mum’s needs are catered for including a hairdresser, optician, dentist and chiropodist. At every opportunity, there is an activity where family and friends are invited; coffee morning, lunch, tea, all to celebrate some event - Mother’s Day, Easter, Christmas, D Day to name just a few. My mum is safe and well cared for and I am kept abreast of how Mum is doing at every stage.

This is an amazing Care Home. The Manager and every single person that work there showed our mum so much kindness and compassion during her stay, nothing was too much trouble. As a family, we were always made to feel welcome whenever we visited. Unfortunately mum passed away at Ferndale but the end-of-life care she was given was exceptional, for which we will be forever grateful. Highly recommended, thank you Ferndale.

I've been delighted with the improvement in our mum since we moved her to Ferndale in early January 2023; she has put on weight, is up and alert all day and is clearly enjoying her new environment. The staff are extremely caring and take time to make sure Mum is happy and well cared for.

My mum has been a service user at Ferndale for a few years. I could not have chosen a better place for her to live. She is well looked after, well-nourished, happy and contented. The staff are second to none. Friendly, caring and hard-working. I cannot thank the staff enough for all they do. For anyone thinking of placing a loved one in a good, safe facility, this should be your choice. The new manager is lovely and approachable. Thank you to you all at Ferndale!

I visited my mum today with my sister, and Mum was having a cup of tea and cake. She is well cared for and loved at the home. Everyone is very welcoming when we visit, and I know Mum is happy and safe there.
