View Full Details of The MartletsStaff helpful and pleasant. Plenty of food and activities. Enjoys the company and the garden, which is well looked after. Loves the freedom of trips out. Doesn't feel like an old fashioned nursing home. Which is pleasant.
I can not fault the staff and management. The staff work very hard to look after the residents the cleanliness is good everybody is very friendly and very helpful.
Lovely care home. The management and staff really care about the residents and go out of their way to meet my mum's needs and some go above and beyond for her. There are lots of lovely activities available, which mum can choose to take part in if she wants to and trips around the local area.
Mum has been a resident at The Martlets since September 2024 and as a family we have been incredibly impressed with the level of care she has received. The staff are patient, understanding, and consistently attentive to all of Mum's complex needs as someone living with dementia. The Martlets is a lovely home - bright, beautifully decorated, and featuring a large garden. The environment is spacious and thoughtfully designed, allowing residents to move about freely and safely. Residents enjoy activities and are taken out, which we really appreciate. What stands out the most, though, is the people. All the managers and staff are exceptionally friendly, approachable, and professional. Every time we visit, we are made to feel welcome and supported. One staff member said to me, "This is Mum's home"-and that truly sums up how the place feels. Thank you to everyone at The Martlets for the outstanding care and compassion you have shown to Mum and we would highly recommend The Martlets.
My mum has been a resident in the martlets since December last year. She came to the home after a long stay in hospital. My mum had been in a previous home in tarring, and during her 3 month stay there, she was admitted to hospital 4 times, with numerous complications of her type 1 diabetes, even going into DKA while in the home after her blood sugars had been left consistently over 30 for a long period of time. During the 5 months my mum has now been at the martlets, we have not had one medical issue, not one trip to hospital, and overall medically mum is now doing pretty well. The longest she has been out of hospital for a very long time. So very well done to all the nurses because they must be doing it right. The martlets is a nice home, bright and nicely decorated with a lovely garden which is well kept. It's big and busy but I like that as my mum is on the younger side of a nursing home resident, so there's more hustle and bustle going and not so quiet. All managers friendly :)
I have dealt with The Martlets on a number of occasions and I have always felt the care from the staff has always been of the highest standard and they can never do enough to help you. I would highly recommend them to any families looking for somewhere for their loved one to settle and enjoy retirement.
I found The Martlets to be conducive to my brother's needs. The staff were attentive and informative. My brother's room is sufficient in size and pleasantly decorated. The facilities include a spacious day lounge incorporating a television, radio and HiFi. There is also a library and games compendium. The garden is well-kept and available to my brother and his guests. I understand he may be taken to the local village to purchase from the shops.
My father has been with you for 4 years and mum for 10 months. Both have different needs and the care and love shown by the staff has been amazing from carers down to domestic staff. They also make us as a family feel included in everything and this gives us complete peace of mind. Thank you so much for all you're hard work and compassion.
The room was small and dingy. Furniture was about 1970 style. The en-suite had no chair, I suffer from osteoarthritis and diabetes in lower limbs, the shower unit had seen better days. The hot water never got above warm and came out cloudy the first two days. Arrrived on a Friday to 'fish and chips', batter needed 'hammer and chisel' to get into, chips cold and rubbery, the plate was hotter than the food. Most of the lunches consisted of frozen or dehydrated vegetables, roast potatoes had tough skins. I cannot recall having any fresh veg at all. Brown bread for toast ran out on the third day. Boiled eggs were solid. Overall food was not good, even residents sent back half-eaten meals. At best, on a good day, you'd get 1 star!
I cannot fault the staff at The Martlets, they look after my wife so much and she is always happy when I see her, the managers are amazing as well, whenever I have a question or query their support is amazing and always go the extra mile to help me as well as my wife, I'm so glad my wife went to The Martlets and not anywhere else, thank you to all the staff and the managers.
My partner was very happy at The Martlets - he had a good rapport with the staff and they tried so hard to tempt him to eat and drink. After a prolonged spell in hospital (broken femur) and the discovery of cancer, he wanted to go (back home) to The Martlets. He was given exemplary care when he returned. I asked where would he like me to end his life, and had no hesitation in asking for it to be The Martlets. All the staff were extremely kind to me and kept me up to date with everything. I cannot thank them enough.
My Mum has been resident at The Martlets since 2020 with my Dad until he died in 2024. The staff are all lovely and Mum chats to them all. They always have activities and trips that she does and she really enjoys them. I feel happy knowing that Mum is so well looked after.
I am very happy with the care my Mum receives. More importantly my mum is happy at The Martlets - her room is comfortable with new furniture and the staff are very caring. She is well looked after.
My dad left the home unnoticed by staff and walked to Rustington without anyone knowing he was gone! This is a red flag! He was found but they tried to make out it wasn't a big thing, security is not great. I feel the staff do not have adequate training in dementia care, one carer there told me he is not the sort of resident they want there. Glad to say he is now in a much better place receiving the care that he deserves.
We could not have asked for or found a better care home for Mum. The staff were always very helpful, caring and understanding. The Martlets was/is bright, clean and tidy. The food was of excellent quality. In short, it can be compared with a 5-star hotel. A big thank you to all the staff.
All the time my mother-in-law was in this care home she was looked after extremely well. The staff were always very caring and helpful. The home was clean, bright and the food was excellent. The staff treated my mother-in-law as part of their family. when people asked what The Martlets is like I would say 'It's like staying in a 5*hotel'.
All the staff are friendly and welcoming when I come in, with a smile and a hello. They are all fond of my Dad. He enjoys the food, which is saying something for my Dad. He is cared for and any queries are taken seriously and sorted out by the staff.
Mum is starting her 3rd year of living in The Martlets, although Mum is not as active and sharp-minded as she was, she is still treated with fondness, friendship and discretion by each and every staff member. We as her family are always greeted with smiles and regular updates on Mum's ever-changing ways. We are so grateful to each and everyone and trust them wholeheartedly to help Mum with all her personal needs and couldn't wish for a nicer care home.
My father has been at The Martlets for a couple of years now he is always well looked after and happy. I can not fault the staff and the management team are amazing whenever I see them they are always happy to assist and help especially 2 ladies and the team leader is faultless and always has a smile on her face and my dad gets on really well with her. Keep up the good work guys. Regards.
This was my husband's second visit to this care home. He was happy to return here having previously stated he did not want to return to other homes. All his visitors commented on how clean, caring and friendly this home was. Grandson turned up at bathtime but the carer kindly delayed this until after his visit. Very accommodating. Both my husband and I will be quite happy for him to spend another period of respite here.
