View Full Details of Waterbeach LodgeMy mother came to Waterbeach Lodge last year in a very frail and confused condition after a spell in hospital. She rapidly gained her physical strength with regular meals and excellent care from the staff. Staff have been involved with the NHS teams to get her the help she needed and I am so pleased that she is now able to enjoy life more. From being anxious and withdrawn she is now confident in her surroundings and interacts with the other residents herself. Staff always included her in activities which has helped her mental health massively. Chair exercises, entertainers and dancing, visits from preschoolers and scrabble club and lots more keep her too busy to do her knitting! Waterbeach Lodge is a quality hotel experience for its residents. The ensuite rooms are spacious and clean with views of the lovely grounds. With a large lawn and mature trees the A10 does not intrude and mum enjoys the garden from inside as well as walking on the paths and tea in the shade in the summer.
My mother's experience at Waterbeach Lodge was exceptional. From the moment she arrived, the staff ensured she settled in quickly, making a potentially daunting transition feel seamless and welcoming. She felt at home within days and she never once raised the idea of moving back home. The staff were truly caring, meeting her needs with kindness and professionalism. A reassuring test was that whenever we called or visited they all seemed to know who and where in the building my mother was. They were proactive in monitoring and managing any health issues. The care home itself feels more like a hotel than a traditional facility, with beautifully maintained spaces, comfortable rooms, inviting communal areas and great garden. She thoroughly enjoyed the activities provided, from arts and crafts to gentle exercise classes and social events. I'm incredibly grateful for the exceptional care Waterbeach Lodge provided. Highly recommended!
Waterbeach Lodge feels like home the moment you walk in. It has a comfortable, cozy atmosphere. My Mum has a beautiful room overlooking the gorgeous gardens. It's well equipped and meets all of her needs. The staff are all kind, caring, fun and very attentive. Mum has benefited from the company of other residents and the staff. All in all a lovely place.
We were looking for a care home for my mother with Alzheimer's and were made aware of Waterbeach Lodge by a neighbour whose mother is a resident. He spoke very highly of the place and recommended we take a visit. The next day I rang up and left a message and was called back promptly by the manager. She was very welcoming indeed and clearly very experienced and knowledgeable. We had a lengthy conversation and I knew instantly mum would be in good hands. We visited the next day and I was very impressed. The place felt more like a hotel and had a very large well kept garden with a huge patio. We booked mum in for some respite and she settled In straight away and never once asked about coming home. This is testament to the professionalism of the management and staff. Four months on and mum is still there and very happy indeed. She particularly likes the regular entertainment and it is obvious she has taken a shine to the staff and management who are looking after her very well indeed.
My mother moved into Waterbeach Lodge care home in January 2025, initially for a two week respite period. As she had never stayed in a care home before it was very stressful worrying how she would adapt. However, much to our surprise she settled in immediately. The staff were extremely welcoming and friendly and the care has been exceptional throughout her time there so far. A great effort is made to provide entertainment and activities for the residents, which my mother always enjoys and is always up dancing whenever there's a musical production. The home itself is always fresh and clean. Although it's situated on the busy A10, the residence is located in some lovely grounds and is set back away from the road so noise is not an issue. Following a few weeks of respite care my mother moved into Waterbeach Lodge on a permanent basis. She has never seemed happier and I can not think of another place she would be happier.
My friend seems to be will looked after. Her speech and general outlook has vastly improved since moving to Waterbeach Lodge. A particular lady was a fantastic activities coordinator who really drew my friend out and made sure she was well looked after.
I'm really glad dad is in this home I really can't fault them at all ,there all very caring about there residents, they will do anything you ask of them it's no problem and the rooms are wonderful fully furnished my dad is very happy here, staff always happy to see you .
My mother has dementia and moved in to Waterbeach Lodge in October 2024. The staff have shown her consistent care and consideration, even though she can sometimes be difficult. She has nothing but good things to say about them, although she complains about her situation and doesn't really understand that she now needs 24 hour care. She loves the activities and is always wanting to go 'downstairs' which she equates with the singing, theatre and other fun (which she firmly believes she helps run!). The food is fine, and the staff look out for her, making sure that she gets a sandwich when she's been grumpy and turned down dinner. There are snacks and hot drinks between meals, which she enjoys. Since moving in she's put on about 3kg and is now physically better shape than she's been for a couple of years. Because the staff manage her medication, it gets taken on time so she's also no longer in pain. And she gets a glass of wine most evenings, which goes down very well!
Since Mum became a resident in the middle of 2024, we have found are so many positives about Waterbeach Lodge. The staff are unfailingly patient, positive and kind and it's clear everyone is doing their best for the residents, even if the residents aren't always appreciative! Standards of hygiene and cleanliness are very high indeed, both in communal areas and in residents' rooms. Residents always look clean, presentable and cared for. There is a variety of activities and efforts are made to encourage residents to attend any which might interest them. Residents and their families are obviously listened to, their views are encouraged and efforts made to take on board suggestions.
My father seems very happy at Waterbeach Lodge. He joins in with all the activities which so far have included Zoo Lab which is when unusual animals visit the residents, a spa day, in which a foot spa was thoroughly enjoyed, various singalongs, and enjoying the beautiful gardens there. My father has fantastic care and he has commented to me that he could not be better looked after.
My brother has spent 4 weeks in respite care. He found the staff very helpful and accommodating. He did find the food varied and not always to his taste and did not always get what he ordered. The environment and entertainment were excellent as were the well-kept grounds. He definitely improved mentally and physically from his stay.
Mum moved into the home last August, and after a settling-in period, she is happy and well looked after. She often comments on how friendly the staff are. The food is good and varied. It was unfortunate one lady left the position of activities coordinator, but I'm sure things will pick up again once her replacement is appointed. I'm happy that Mum is living in a place where she is safe, secure and comfortable.
My mother came into the home on the 13th November 2023. We found both the management and staff to be most welcoming on her arrival and have been kind and understanding towards her during her residency. Her own room and all other areas of the home are kept clean. The meals always appear to be of a good quality, with a varied choice of menu. My mother seems to be very happy and has settled in well.
My mother spent 18 months at Waterbeach Lodge until her death in January 2024. She received very good care throughout. The staff were always professional approachable and kind. The management team were always immediately responsive to me when I made any enquiry regarding Mum. They spotted any change in Mum's health rapidly and responded very appropriately during her stay there. In her last illness, the care she received was exceptionally good. I cannot thank them enough for this and all her care over the previous 18 months when Waterbeach Lodge was her home.
Staff keep me informed of my husband's well-being, reporting any changes and what changes or possible changes are being considered to help him. Staff in general are kind and make an effort to communicate with him in passing.
The care of the residents is outstanding, they are treated with respect and dignity. There is also the support of relatives, especially at difficult times. The atmosphere is always cheerful and the staff are always helpful.
My father-in-law was not necessarily the easiest resident but the staff coped admirably with him. There were a few times when his hygiene (especially mouth care) could have been better, but the overall level of care was very good. When he was dying the staff were exceptionally caring and supportive.
My mum moved in to Waterbeach Lodge in March 2021. From the start, Mum was made very welcome by the manager and staff and settled in as the months progressed under the restrictions of Covid-19. There has been an unchanging core team of staff during the year which I believe is a good sign. The food is good and the facilities, decor and ambience make Waterbeach Lodge feel more like a hotel. Mum has been encouraged to join in with the in-house activities and outings.
Waterbeach Lodge is a wonderfully caring and compassionate place. My father was immediately cared for as a family member. The whole team contributed which created a holistic and excellent level of care. I could not speak more highly of the care home.
