View Full Details of St Mary's Care HomeA big thank you to all of the staff at St Mary's. You are fantastic! Your friendly, supportive, caring and fun loving attitude makes visiting and being a resident at the home such a happy experience. What a wonderful time was had by all with the Elvis impersonator. Staff, residents and family all joining in. Water fights on hot weekends to soak staff. Visits out and invitations in for lunch on Father's day. My father has only been a resident at St Mary's for a few months and we are so relieved and grateful at how caring, friendly and enthusiastic the staff are and how clean and homely the building is and how beautiful and accessibly the gardens are. Many thanks
All the staff are so friendly and smiling when we go in, and make us most welcome ,mum looks well cared for, there are lots of activities and stimulation for the residences and for the families to join in as well
Staff remain friendly and hospitable. I like the option to have something to eat alongside Mum. There's always a cup of coffee on offer. Sometimes there is an issue with Mum having stained clothes or needing a change, but this is addressed promptly when highlighted. Overall, Mum's condition is progressing but she remains in reasonable fettle with a good appetite. Still think it's daft not to have wipeable chairs.
My mother has always been very well looked after and cared for. The staff are kind, empathetic and very caring and professional. Everyone here goes above and beyond to welcome you and it really does have a lovely atmosphere. The care my mother receives is excellent and I feel comfort knowing she is in safe hands.
Mum and Dad came into St Mary's originally for respite care of 3 weeks. Because of family ill health, a further 3-week stay was arranged. With Mum and Dad's continuing needs, we are now looking at them staying full-time. Mum and Dad both enjoy the way they are looked after and we as a family are very happy for them.
The Council have been trying to move my mother to another residential home dye to the costs, all the staff have been very helpful and concerned for my mum's well being and offered help and advice for me in an attempt to prevent the move. Thankfully there is a positive outcome after 7 months of worry for me and Mum is staying at St Mary's Care Home. Our family is very grateful for all the concern shown by staff and for the managers help and negotiations.
Mum was given a room after hospital discharge on Christmas eve. Having met the manager and deputy prior to this we received outstanding support and help. Mum has been given the care, support and medical help she needs without questions. I cannot praise the staff highly enough for their continued not only through the Christmas period but also for their valued support, informed and knowing of mum's care. We cannot consider anywhere else to take mum other than here. They are outstanding.
From the initial call to St Mary's Care Home I cannot fault anyone or anything. The care required for my uncle was immediate and St Mary's did everything to accept him swiftly and over the busy Christmas period as well. The staff, rooms, food and hospitality are all amazing. As a family we can't rate St Mary's highly enough. Knowing my uncle is safe and cared for is such a relief and knowing we can visit anything is also very reassuring. They offer a very personal service and I would recommend it to anyone.
My mum has been in St Mary's for an initial four-week temporary stay after having been in hospital, after a haemorrhagic stroke for ten weeks. She already had Alzheimer's and the stroke has advanced this condition. Myself and my sister's have been impressed with the care Mum has received from all the staff at St Mary's from the Manager and admin staff, care workers to the domestic staff. They have all been really nice. Several of the staff have remembered mine and my sister's names too, which is really nice when we visit. There is a really nice, calm atmosphere. Bright, airy, and clean. Nice dining area for residents to have their meals. Overall would recommend to others looking for a nice place for an elderly relative to live if they need to be in a safe place with 24-hour care.
Very nice home & very welcoming. Carers are very attentive & the makeover looks great. Everyone has been so good to us since Mum moved in but special mention to the Hospitality manager, he has made us feel very welcome and one Nurse in particular has been so sweet and caring.
I wrote a review on the 5th of August as I was unhappy with the changes that had occurred but things have improved tremendously. The atmosphere has improved and the staff are so friendly going from the manager to carers, laundry, cleaners, cooks, and maintenance staff. I was ready to call out the home when things were unhappy but am pleased that things have improved, well done Kingsley. I would recommend St Mary's Care Home to anyone.
My third visit to St Mary's has been a very happy and fulfilled, Staff was all very friendly and prepared to do more than necessary. I can not fault the system in any way. The talk that we did on Wednesday about the owls and seeing the beautiful barn owl was very enjoyable.
On visiting the care home with my mum to see her friend we had a warm welcome and were offered tea and coffee. The home felt relaxed and there seemed to be plenty of activities ongoing with people taking part. We were offered lunch that looked delicious but sadly never had the time to stay
With regret to write this review. Please can I also make it very clear this review is being made due to the new care home owners Kingsley Care. St Mary's Care Home was once one of the best, kindest, caring, and excellent care homes, and my relative was more than happy. The new owners arrived and all I can say is the once happy environment is now one of unhappy residents, staff leaving and the home is not kept clean. I arrived to my relative being in dirty clothes, their room had not been cleaned to its usual standard and they were sad due to being told to eat in their room. Absolutely disgusted. Kingsley Care in my opinion is more about posh soft furniture that is not practical for most residents, they had no respect for the original staff who worked so hard and the residents felt safe with.
My Dad was at St. Mary's Care Home for a short period at the beginning of 2024. We were visited at home before Dad's admission and from the outset, his needs were met. Dad was treated with kindness and dignity by a dedicated team of kind caring professionals. The Home is all on one level and Dad had his own room and ensuite bathroom with loo and washbasin. There were adequate assisted bathrooms for residents to have regular baths/showers. The level of cleanliness was very good the first thing Dad said on arrival was how clean and warm it was. There was evidence of ongoing maintenance and redecoration. Dad was 89 years old, and very frail on admission to St. Mary's. After a brief hospital admission, Dad chose to go back to St. Mary's for end-of-life care. The staff was very kind and supportive to all of us during Dad's stay. Myself and my family have all said we would certainly recommend this care home to others.
Mum has not been in this home for a year yet, and I can see how much happier she is and more relaxed compared to another care home she was at. When I visit, all the staff are amazing and patient with the residents. Mum is always wearing her own clothes, which I know is hard for care homes, but St Mary's is doing well at it. The manager and all her staff give me the peace of mind that Mum is cared for and safe. They are all amazing.
Rooms looked out onto the garden which was lovely, all the staff were polite and pleasant. Would definitely recommend St Mary’s to my family and friends. She always tells me the food is nice and there always seems to be available snacks and drinks.
My dad enjoyed it at St Mary’s Care Home. All the staff were very kind and helpful, making his stay for 11 months the best they could. He made many friends and was grateful for how the careers looked after him, and enjoyed the activities that they did. I cannot fault the staff, they were all very good and kind and always made visitors very welcome. A lovely care home.
Visited my friend, who seems very happy here, she gets nice snacks and drinks, and she says the food is really good. She is pleased with the new activities lady who has put in new things like a toddler group and my friend's favourite, a walking group. The staff were all lovely when I visited. Would highly recommend
My dad has been at St Mary’s for nearly five years and my mum for three years with him and always says to me I’m so glad you found this home. The carers are lovely and very caring and also welcoming when we visit.
