As a chartered surveyor I have inspected many care homes. St.Josephs does not feel like one at all, more like a small hotel for retired gentle folk. I was next of kin for my elderly Aunt who after being widowed decided she'd like to be closer to me than her previous care home. She moved to
St.Josephs in July 2025 and since that day the caring loving environment there lifted a huge weight off our shoulders. A massive stroke in 2019 had rendered my Aunt immobile but that never seemed an issue for the staff, but did mean she did not get the benefit of all the activities that we saw others enjoying, its always a full calendar of events. She has left us now, but the care shown by the staff at the time was just great.

My husband spent periods of respite in St Josephs' Gainsborough Wing, which specialises in dementia care, leading to permanent residence until March this year, when he sadly passed away. I would like thank Jacquie, Anne, Debbie, Fran and ALL the staff, from the management down, for their
professionalism, kindness, compassion and understanding. St Joseph's is a special place. When you walk through the door feeling worried, anxious and stressed about finding a suitable place for your loved one to be cared for, you are met by smiling, friendly staff and a warm welcoming atmosphere, and then by Ashley, the heart of the admin team, who is reassuring and understanding. Dementia, as we know, can be very difficult and challenging. The staff at St Joseph's meet it with love, patience, humour and creativity, providing many activities and outings and wonderful and varied menus and treats to enjoy. St Josephs provides residents with an improved quality of life, which is beyond price.

My daughter and I visit our friend and have always been greeted with warmth and care from the staff. All staff are so smiley and kind and we always feel so welcomed when we visit. We are always offered a drink and one of the lounges to sit in and are always well looked after.
Our friend is very
happy at St Joseph's and has made a lovely home for herself in the time she has been living there.
It's really a wonderful place.

Thank you to Jacquie, Ashley and the team for making my aunt's transition to St Joseph's so positive. Moving into care is not an easy decision for a family, but right from the start St Joseph's have been reassuring and kind.
My aunt has settled in very quickly. She has a lovely room and when we
call on the phone, she sounds genuinely happy. Knowing she is safe and surrounded by lots of people who can help her is such a relief. She's made friends, enjoys lots of activities and often says it feels like a lovely hotel, apparently the food is exceptional! The environment is light, airy and well cared for, and the staff are consistently friendly and approachable. Access to a doctor has also been straightforward, which gives real peace of mind. We're very grateful for the care and support shown to both my aunt and our family, it really does make all the difference.

I am really grateful to St Joseph's for helping my Mum to recover after a difficult spell in hospital following two falls at home. The staff are really warm and professional. Ashley on the admin team has ensured everything has gone smoothly at what has been a difficult and stressful time for my Mum
and our family. Really pleased.

My father was in St Joseph's from August 2024 to February 2026. The staff were all friendly and welcoming and definitely made my father feel special. He responded really well to their humour and sense of fun. They were always attentive to his needs and nothing was too much trouble. There is
excellent support throughout and St Joseph's welcomed feedback through relatives meetings. Staff were very good at letting me know about any health concerns and liaised well with paramedics and the hospital when required. The management team were excellent and always accessible and ready to assist with any questions.

We were looking for a care home for our mother and were recommended a few to look at in Sudbury. As soon as we entered St Josephs, we felt it was right. It was light and airy, with wide corridors, a large day room and a pleasant feel to the dining room. All the staff are friendly and welcoming,
and nothing seems to be too much trouble. From carers, admin and management mum receives the best care and although she has not been at St Josephs long, she feels settled and safe and is enjoying her new home. We couldn't ask for more - a big thank you to everyone at St Josephs.

We needed to find a care home urgently for my 95-year old mother in October 2025. St Joseph's were very friendly, efficient and welcoming. Mum moved in within a few days and the staff were very helpful in getting everything organised, for example doctor's registration, district nurse visits etc.
She was made very welcome and was encouraged to join in meal times, events etc.
I would thoroughly recommend St Joseph's

I have worked in the care sector for 32 years, which makes you more aware of what good care should be. When a loved one has dementia, they are very vulnerable, they depend on the carers to attend to every need, and it is a big worry for families to trust a home to provide care for them. St Joseph's
have an amazing Team of Carers, they are respectful, kind, treat everyone as an individual , and with dignity.
When my mother moved into St Joseph's. It was a great relief as I did not have to worry about her as I knew the carers would look after her, as they understood her needs. I will be forever grateful to them for caring for my mother to her final days, she had 2 happy years with you. Thank you Sheena

Our Dad moved to St Josephs approx 15 months ago and despite our concerns he settled in very quickly and treated it as his home in no time at all. Without doubt the main reason for this was down to the approach and attitude of all the St Josephs team. They were consistently friendly, considerate and
caring and we could see they really liked Dad. They enjoyed having fun together and didn't mind Dad busying himself with tidying up or exploring everything. The team leaders medical care was first rate they were alert to and changes and advised us and the Doctors as necessary. A huge thank you to everyone for their care and kindness.

Both my parents have been residents at St. Joseph's for a total of 4 years. Both received excellent care throughout and at their end-of-life stages. The staff are kind, friendly and compassionate and we, as a family, felt confident that they were well looked after and in a safe environment.
Communication was good and I was always well informed of any issues regarding my parents. The home has a calm and welcoming atmosphere and is always spotless. I am forever grateful for the caring support and friendship my parents received from the staff and would have no hesitation in recommending St. Joseph's to anyone who needs assistance.

Unfortunately from recent personal (mum in law had a period of respite care) experiences it has to be a zero (unfortunately I cannot score any lower) out of ten from me.
Although on the face of it a negative review however, care and other ancillary staff are very much exempted from any criticism.

Mum has been at St Joseph's just over 2 weeks now, following a lengthy hospital stay & emergency operation. The staff at St Joseph's have been incredible - making a very difficult time much easier. The care they take over Mum is heart warming & although she is still settling in, I feel positive
about her future for the first time in a long time. The staff are also very welcoming when we visit. The cleanliness is 5 star & the food is varied & wholesome. I feel very lucky to have get Mum a place here.

When we had to make the difficult decision to pass Mum's care into the hands of the professionals there was only place we ever considered and that was St Joseph's. We had heard so many good things about the staff and their compassionate care. We were not disappointed, from the day Mum entered the
home we knew she was safe and in good hands. However the staff didn't just take care of mum they took care of us as a family too. Nothing was too much trouble for them and we will be forever grateful to them for their compassionate care especially as Mum came to the end of her life. Simply put the staff just couldn't do enough for us. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone who finds themselves no longer able to care for their loved ones at home. Thank you will never be enough!

I am my wife's carer and was looking for a care home to provide some respite. From beginning to end of her short stay at St Joseph's she was treated like a permanent resident with respect and care beyond my expectations. The staff are lovely and smile through every situation and really I wonder how
they do it.
As a family, we are now looking to place my wife within a care home permanently and will not look further than St Joseph's.

My mother was a resident in St Joseph's for nearly four years until her death in December 2024. I cannot say strongly enough how amazing they were in handling her care and her well being. She was not the easiest of people to deal with but everything that was done for her was done with a smile on the
carers faces. Nothing was ever too much trouble. The staff's kindness in Mum's last few days was so touching. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending St Joseph's.

My mum is currently residing at St Joseph's and I wanted to say how amazing they are. One of the carers took my mum to the zoo last week which she thoroughly enjoyed and then danced to theatre music when she returned. That particular carer is so kind and the staff there are all so nice.
