View Full Details of Wickham HouseWickham House is genuinely exceptional. No other care provision has done for my mum what Wickham House has. When the manager and deputy assessed her, they held her hand and reassured her that she would be well cared for at Wickham House. Management and the whole team have kept their word. From the manager and deputy going in on Christmas Day to give residents gifts, displays of craft that residents make carefully displayed on the walls, beautifully presented afternoon teas from the thoughtful kitchen team, carers painting residents' nails, Easter chicks being brought in for residents to cuddle, to the regular singers and entertainment offered, the approach of the whole team is exemplary. Even when my mum has a difficult time, I am reassured that she is looked after with compassion, skill and expertise. In my experience of nearly two years, Wickham House is a care home that consistently goes above and beyond. I wholeheartedly recommend it without any reservation.
I would NOT recommend this care home. They don't have my Fathers interest and mental health as a top priority. I have been told personally that they do not have time to check the login book and it's only there for emergencies. So they don't have time to check the login book to see who is coming and going from the building, allowing people to visit my father who does not like or know which effecting his mental health. My father's happiness and mental health is not a top priority. If you call up on a weekend there is nobody there to answer any questions regarding my fathers health, only Monday to Friday 9 to 5. There is lack of numbers of carers on each floor as a few incidents have occurred whilst I have been visiting and no one is available! The above date is ongoing and is now July 2025.I would rate this home 0 stars but I have to choice at least 1star and that 1star is for the food.
My family and I highly recommend Wickham House. My husband has been ( and still can be!) most challenging but the staff have always treated him with dignity and respect , a little humour and genuine care. Wickham is a happy home, always welcoming, well-kept, with light, airy rooms and a very pretty, easy accessible garden. The meals are very good too! We are so grateful that my husband was accepted there.
Staff are always on hand, very friendly, and helpful. The home is always clean & airy, not too hot or cold. My brother usually is relaxed (can be testing at times) & often falls asleep during our visits.
I have been impressed with the friendliness, helpfulness and efficiency of all the staff. Always willing, whatever the problem or question.
Since my mother joined the home I have visited on many occasions, I always find the staff members and general atmosphere to be extremely welcoming. My mother is happy and content at Wickham House. The management team are beyond helpful, if there are any issues they will call to let you know immediately. I get a strong impression they really care for the residents. My family are very grateful to the team at Wickham for making my mother's stay a happy and caring one.
Wickham House is a happy place. My husband has settled well. All the staff are smiley and approachable. My husband is cared for well by kind, patient staff. Thank you.
My mother is well looked after, with as much dignity and respect shown to her. It's a pleasure to be able to visit anytime, day or night. The staff show how caring they are by always checking Mum is ok. One staff member in particular is very good with Mum, helps her express herself through activities.
I found Wickham House a very friendly and welcoming place, and wish that my husband could stay there permanently. The staff are always kind and friendly and always make you welcome. I know my husband won't be able to stay there full time, but I hope wherever he goes, it will be as nice as Wickham. Well done, and best wishes to you all.
When I visit everyone seems so happy which in turn makes me happy too. Lovely staff, could not be better, always a smile.
My wife has been a resident at Wickham House for 7 weeks. I am very pleased with the care she is having. Management and staff are all wonderful people.
Wickham House is situated in a lovely leafy setting with a garden for residents. The staff are very kind and have been patient and helpful to my elderly cousin with dementia. We have visited several times and on each occasion have found all staff to be supportive both to us and our relative. The garden is a great area to have a wander and chat. Our cousin's room is light and has an en-suite shower. Wickham House is really making a difference! Thank you.
This care home is amazing the manager to the staff are friendly and go above and beyond their duties. My mum was happy and relaxed. We could go and visit anytime. I wished it was nearer us (about an hour's drive) as mum wanted to stay and cried when she left.
My husband has been a resident at Wickham House for over ten weeks, and he seems much more settled in a care home environment since starting a new medication and getting used to the home. I visit twice a week with either family, a friend or a neighbour. All those who accompany me have been impressed with the friendliness and care shown by all the staff in a modern and clean environment. There is such a need for more places like this. Thank you to all the staff. You are a real blessing. I have not been present at meal times, so cannot really judge these. I have rated them as satisfactory.
The experience for my husband has been one of extreme care and kindness. Wonderful and caring staff, not only for residents but their families too.
The staff at this care home are welcoming, friendly and professional. They have great patience with the residents and show understanding and empathy. Although the building is old, the staff more than makeup for this with their quality of care.
I am very pleased with the care my husband is having. The staff are very good and the management is also so good.
Ever since my husband went to Wickham House, I have only seen kindness and respect from all the staff and management. After looking after my husband for seven years, I completely feel he is safe and cared for so well that it makes me feel at peace knowing this. I can't praise the staff enough on the unit that my husband is in.
From the manageress down, all the staff here always show huge amounts of care, compassion and kindness to my wife ever since she has resided there. Your staff always smile a genuine smile when I visit and are happy to answer my questions. Staff are so kind to her even when she becomes aggressive and abusive. I constantly tell family and friends how wonderful the care is at Wickham House. I am acutely aware that to obtain high levels of staff commitment to achieve company goals requires excellent procedures together with first class management with the people skills to implement those goals to ensure total success.
My father-in-law was in the home and we as a family were very pleased with the care he received, right up to when he died. The staff were brilliant and the level of communication was excellent. We all had a good experience which made everything easier at a very difficult time. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home.
