My husband is in care at Blackwood House and I can only say that the staff are amazing in making his time with them as happy and fun as possible. Bernie, who does the activities is amazing and how she comes up with the ideas I do not know. His room is now decorated for Christmas and the staff have
put up during the year phots that he loves of the family. He enjoys the trips out for a meal and the old fashioned, as he says, dinners especially the trifle !
It's warm and bright and the care staff are always cheerful.
Linda and Leanne, are very supportive and communicative and very patient in dealing with all his parcels and forgotten passwords !!

Mum stayed for 2 weeks respite in the summer. One thrived! The smile on her face in the regular update photos we were sent was testament to the way one was feeling - safe & happy. The staff went above & beyond to make her feel welcome. She adored the therapy dog & all the activities, even had her
hair cut! Thankyou.

Visiting cousin David for 7 days we are from Australia.
Where David is living now we have had a wonderful reception from everyone. We see David in a very happy environment. We love our meetings in the summer house overlooking the garden. Our time with David is very precious.

For my mum to have started the next stage of her life at Blackwood is a huge relief. For the first time in 2 years my mum is in a safe space and a kind, caring home. I cannot thank the staff enough for giving my mum the dignity and time she deserves. It is a joy to see her laugh again.

My gran has been in and out of hospital for a couple years and had been very unhappy and depressed, but since moving her here she's been laughing and having a great time. Staff are amazing and great at communicating.

Since my sister has been in Blackwood house her health has improved such a lot. Within a week we could see a difference in her. All the staff are caring and very friendly. Everything is clean and bright. We can rest easy knowing she is well cared for.

Mum stayed at Blackwood House for 2 weeks respite care.
She had a wonderful two weeks and is no longer fearful of perminent care.

I have nothing but the highest praise for Blackwood House and it's staff.
My mother, who has dementia, became a resident last summer after 4 years of living at home alone. From day one she felt cared for and settled in right away. I usually see her once a week and she is always happy, she looks
immaculate and her room is pristine. The staff make a real effort to engage with her, a variety of entertainment and day trips are provided and Mum loves the food ( She has even gained a bit of weight!).
If I ever have any concerns the staff always have time for a chat which is reassuring. I always come away from my visits at Blackwood feeling comforted knowing that my Mum could not be in a better place.

A volunteer and the activities lady from the home arranged for our Mum to visit one of her favourite places. It was an extra special day, and Mum got to see some of her family and friends who she hadn't seen in years. One of the best moments was when someone put a song on the jukebox, and Mum sang
along. The effort put into that day, with one of the ladies coming in on her day off and the other lady making sure Mum's hair and nails were perfect and ensuring the timing and details were spot on, was appreciated by everyone. A huge thank you to those ladies for always going the extra mile. It is much appreciated.

My mum has been a resident at Blackwood Residential Care Home for three months. I am truly overwhelmed by the difference in her already. She is so relaxed and happy and really enjoys all the social activities on offer. She is so well cared for, always clean and enjoys all the beautiful food. The
staff go above and beyond, so welcoming and make sure with me that they are providing all the care Mum needs. I also feel like I'm a part of the Blackwood Residential Care Home family. Blackwood Residential Care Home isn't just a care home, it's everyone's home. I am in awe of every single member of staff, all so warm and friendly. All my worries about Mum's care have been taken away, thankfully, she can live and enjoy the rest of her life in a wonderful, comfortable, safe and happy place.

Fabulous place, provides reassurance, safety, care, fun-loving, dependable.
This place and all staff, beyond words, great service and ongoing service. The system that very this place rates on ridiculous criteria and enable an average score, there are more important factors that should be assessed.
10/10 in al areas.

The home is really coming on now with investment in the furniture and facilities, the staff are lovely and always welcoming to the residents and guests alike. Finishing touches in the lounge will really make this almost a home-from-home.

I visited a friend, Thursday 8th August 2024, accompanied by my friend who was visiting a family member.
I found the experience excellent, staff very aware of their patients, a kind word to all. Very clean.
Would most certainly recommend to anyone who is looking for a care home.

On multiple visits, the staff at Blackwood Residential Care Home have been very professional, caring and pleasant. I witnessed them to be very caring in their interactions with residents. I always look forward to my visits.

There is a friendly and welcoming atmosphere at Blackwood Residential Care Home. Residents are well cared for and generally seem happy.
The activities coordinator is brilliant. She goes above and beyond with the activities that are organised. Residents are involved and look forward to the
entertainment provided. She recognises the value of volunteers and makes the most of our time and expertise.

After a spontaneous visit to this care home, we were given faith that our mum would be given the best care and support. With a smooth transition from hospital to here, Mum felt trust and cared for and in her words, "Everyone is marvellous and can't do enough for us". 'Us' being a good word, as my
dad (85), also needed emotional support throughout.
Blackwood Residential Care Home doesn't feel like a care facility, it has a fun feel with a variety of activities, the staff are genuinely happy and can't do enough for you. Staff and management made the paperwork easy to organise. Would recommend plus Dad is happy to go here when he is ready.

My first visit and made to feel very welcome. The staff had organised a 100th birthday and went all out to include all residents and visitors. A very homely atmosphere.

Today I had the pleasure to attend the 100th birthday party for my family member. What struck me most was how everyone who lives at Blackwood was involved in the celebration, with their tastes being catered for. Our family member had the best time and the love and support was genuine.
