View Full Details of Malden HouseResidents are well looked after in the home clean tidy, well maintained. The use of the equipment in the home is such that it's less noticeable for the residents. Namely due to use of movement sensors. The staff are very helpful within the home. The staff are quick to notice accidents from the residents. The awareness is good, though there is a constant balance between technology to monitor and people watching. With a bustling movement of residence the engagement within the surroundings is reasonable. Attempts are made to engage the residents with various levels of success, considering the variety of issues present it's reasonable for the people/resources available. The garden needs attention, this is known. Plants/flowers are very good for people of any age. I put 4 for facilities/safety, as in the lounge area wandering residents without their frames is sometimes/often noticed eventually/late. More sensors are needed to alert the nearby career whom is probably distracted.
We contacted Malden House to see if they could take mum at short notice due to her changing health issues. The manager and her team have been so very helpful and kind to mum and us as a family. I cannot praise them enough for their understanding of our situation and their willingness to help mum fit in with life at Malden. After only a week it is clear that mum is really enjoying life there. We chose Malden as mum had previously been in respite care there and we were very happy with them at that time. It was also lovely to see so many familiar staff who clearly remembered mum from her last stay.
Mum has been in Malden House for almost a year and she has settled in well. We looked at a number of homes before deciding which home would be best for her and I have to say we definitely chose the right one. All the staff are so friendly and always on hand to cater for every need. Mum came from a very big family, most of whom have now passed away. She now has a brand new family at Malden House.
My husband has been at Malden House since mid-February, discharged there from hospital following a short stay due to a decline in health, including dementia and poor mobility. As he was previously a weekly day care visitor he quickly settled in to a full-time stay, making a good recovery from his poor health to a level better than in many weeks. His time at Malden gave me a chance to recharge, having been his full-time home carer for 8 years. We've been made so welcome by the kind and friendly staff, the manager and the management team, it's been an immense relief to know he's safe and well looked after. I've enjoyed quality time taking him on outings and visits to the home, we've both enjoyed taking part in activities and feeling part of the Malden community. For personal reasons we're reverting to care at home, but we're pleased to maintain the day care visits and valuable link to Malden, which from the start has made such a positive difference and continues.
The staff at Malden House are all very friendly and have time for everyone - residents and their families alike. Their obvious compassion towards all residents is very apparent and this is a great comfort to families. The accommodation is kept very clean and is lovely to visit and spend time in both communal and private bedroom areas. Also the food, from light snacks to main meals are varied and tasty.
The care that my wife receives is very good. The staff try to keep her engaged in lots of different activities although her condition makes her unable to make sense of many of them. She particularly likes going out in the mini bus visiting various local places. Her home has gone through a big change over the past year with a doubling of size and of course a number of new care staff. In general this has gone well and the managers have coped well with the difficulties this can bring. I had a few issues with clothing not being sorted properly but when this was brought to the attention of the managers this was quickly addressed. In general I am very happy that my wife is being looked after carefully and she views the care home as her actual 'Home' now.
I am very happy with the care provided for my husband at Malden House. The staff are very kind and all very patient with his dementia problems.
This is a small and happy care home where all the residents are respected and well cared for. The carers always have time for the residents however busy they are.
Always a welcome, and resident available nicely dressed. Plenty of staff around who treat the residents well and with compassion when required
My mother who I've been caring for two years went into respite at short notice. The care home were so accommodating and gave her a lovely room with en-suite. All the staff were so cheerful and kind and looked after my mother very well. The team are all very respectful and the residents all seemed content and happy. A big thank you to all the staff for their professionalism and kindness.
My partner and I are eagerly awaiting the birth of our first Grandchild and with that we had to find somewhere to look after my Mother-in-law who lives with us. We wanted somewhere that would look after her as we do. With care and compassion, with friendliness and sensitivity. In the manager and her team we found that. My Mother-in-law has moderate dementia but other mental health needs and it has taken us a long time to get the right care balance. The manager took on board all of our concerns and came up with a care plan in the home that has kept her happy and safe. Thank you Malden House.
Super staff, great food, a really caring environment. Well organised and ready to listen to feedback. My Stepmother is in the very best place I can think of, all her needs are met on a regular basis,
After looking after my cousin for the last six months, I reluctantly decided it was time for her to go into a care home. We lived close to the home for a number of years so it was the first one I tried. They could not have been more helpful and my cousin moved in within a week. Her room is lovely and the staff could not have been more welcoming. As I have been unwell over the Christmas period I was even sent a photo showing her having a good time. Some other relatives visited this week and they were extremely impressed.
Having lived in Malden for a few years very happily, my mother passed away at the end of November. I would like to commend all the staff at Malden House for their empathy and the exceptional end of life care they gave my mother. Their dealings with my father and all of the family was exemplary and they helped to ease us all although my mum's final journey. We cannot thank them enough.
Mum has settled well at Malden House and seems to be happier than any of us expected. Thank you for looking after her.
Very helpful. Friendly staff. Efficient.
A hidden gem of a care facility on the outskirts of the popular seaside town of Sidmouth. It runs as a well-oiled machine providing exceptional personal care either one-to-one or in a group setting. Obviously the staff have received a high level of training through the guidance of a high-level management team. Would highly recommend.
Thank you to Malden House for making our anniversary very special, it was wonderful. Myself and my husband were overwhelmed with joy and appreciated all your hard work. Thank you for making me feel welcome as much as my husband who lives here.
Today was a special celebration for my relative and his wife. The staff at Malden House went out of their way to welcome us and help celebrate their Golden wedding anniversary. He is always happy and confident to be living at Malden House when we visit him. We appreciate the photos on social media, he is always involved in the activities and to see them every day si so reassuring, knowing he remains happy every day.
We received a very warm welcome when we went to visit Malden House and again when my husband went for a two-week respite break. The staff were very caring and helpful. Communications with the home were excellent - very prompt replies to messages and I felt very informed about how my husband was settling in. An issue which caused my husband to feel uncomfortable during the early days of his stay was resolved swiftly and satisfactorily. I was able to have a break from my role as a carer knowing that my husband was in very safe hands and in a very comfortable environment.
