Wonderful new manager and family meetings are next level. We feel listened to; the staff knew the residents so well; morale seems high and there is always a buzz in the conversatory of an activity going on. Some residents seem to enjoy sitting quietly with a newspaper or listening to music but the atmosphere is very good. Nice breeze on a hot day and outdoor space to sit. I visit regularly, I review regularly and say what I see.
Thank you so much for your positive review. We really appreciate it!
The team work hard to work together and address any concerns immediately. Communication with family members we always need to be open and transparent with and we move with this in all that we do. Our activities program, under...
The atmosphere is warm & welcoming. My relative seems very settled and calm at Malden House, she enjoys the food and her bedroom is big, light, spacious and spotless. The staff are hard working & motivated. The paramedic attached to the home is only a call away. The management seem very on top of medicine requirements & all the little things that make such a difference.

The home is clean, welcoming and whenever I go there is music playing, a positive and uplifting atmosphere, wonderful inclusive activities and fabulous meals. My mum is in a wheelchair now but they take her out regularly and she loves that.
Medically we have some challenges and we are being very well guided and supported.
Thank you to everyone. We are very grateful.
Thank you for taking the time to post a positive review. We truly appreciate that you entrust your mum with us. Our residents, including your mum enjoy the vibrant activities programme we have at Malden and our Facebook page reflects the joy they have either out in the minibus or enjoying music and physical activities. We are here to support you and your family on this journey at Malden House.
We've been visiting my mother for 18 months now and it is such a warm and friendly place to be! We can visit her for coffee and chats and be in the lovely conservatory or in her room if she is tired. We are continually impressed with the kind staff who all know my mother very well - even the smallest of details regarding diet, activity, mood and increasing levels of personal care needed. I don't know how the communication amongst staff is so strong - it is v impressive! Just this morning I was going through her wardrobe - laundry is done immaculately (we have marked it all) and her room is always fresh and spotless - just how my mother lived at home!!
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We are delighted to hear that you find the home warm and welcoming, and that our staff's kindness, communication, and attention to detail have made such a positive impression. We are also pleased that you are happy with the cleanliness of your mother's room and the care taken with her laundry. Your kind words mean a great deal to us.
My mother has been in Malden House for over a year. It is a fun sociable place. My mother is well looked after and she is very happy. She would tell me if there was anything she didn't like or if anything was making her unhappy and I only receive positive comments.
Thank you for your kind review. We are delighted to hear that your mother is happy at Malden House and enjoying the social and welcoming atmosphere. It is wonderful to know she feels well cared for and content, and we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and trust in our team.
Residents are well looked after in the home clean tidy, well maintained.
The use of the equipment in the home is such that it's less noticeable for the residents. Namely due to use of movement sensors.
The staff are very helpful within the home. The staff are quick to notice accidents from the residents. The awareness is good, though there is a constant balance between technology to monitor and people watching.
With a bustling movement of residence the engagement within the surroundings is reasonable. Attempts are made to engage the residents with various levels of success, considering the variety of issues present it's reasonable for the people/resources available.
The garden needs attention, this is known. Plants/flowers are very good for people of any age.
I put 4 for facilities/safety, as in the lounge area wandering residents without their frames is sometimes/often noticed eventually/late.
More sensors are needed to alert the nearby career whom is probably distracted.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we are aware and working to support each resident with a person centered approach.
We contacted Malden House to see if they could take mum at short notice due to her changing health issues. The manager and her team have been so very helpful and kind to mum and us as a family. I cannot praise them enough for their understanding of our situation and their willingness to help mum fit in with life at Malden. After only a week it is clear that mum is really enjoying life there. We chose Malden as mum had previously been in respite care there and we were very happy with them at that time. It was also lovely to see so many familiar staff who clearly remembered mum from her last stay.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. It is wonderful to hear how well your mum has settled back in to Malden House after her previous respite stay and that the process was made easier by the care, support and understanding shown by the team. We will pass on your kind words to all at Malden House.
We looked at a number of homes before deciding which home would be best for her and I have to say we definitely chose the right one.
All the staff are so friendly and always on hand to cater for every need.
Mum came from a very big family, most of whom have now passed away. She now has a brand new family at Malden House.

My husband has been at Malden House since mid-February, discharged there from hospital following a short stay due to a decline in health, including dementia and poor mobility. As he was previously a weekly day care visitor he quickly settled in to a full-time stay, making a good recovery from his poor health to a level better than in many weeks. His time at Malden gave me a chance to recharge, having been his full-time home carer for 8 years. We've been made so welcome by the kind and friendly staff, the manager and the management team, it's been an immense relief to know he's safe and well looked after. I've enjoyed quality time taking him on outings and visits to the home, we've both enjoyed taking part in activities and feeling part of the Malden community. For personal reasons we're reverting to care at home, but we're pleased to maintain the day care visits and valuable link to Malden, which from the start has made such a positive difference and continues.

My mother who I've been caring for two years went into respite at short notice. The care home were so accommodating and gave her a lovely room with en-suite. My partner and I are eagerly awaiting the birth of our first Grandchild and with that we had to find somewhere to look after my Mother-in-law who lives with us. We wanted somewhere that would look after her as we do. With care and compassion, with friendliness and sensitivity. In the manager and her team we found that. My Mother-in-law has moderate dementia but other mental health needs and it has taken us a long time to get the right care balance. The manager took on board all of our concerns and came up with a care plan in the home that has kept her happy and safe. Thank you Malden House.

After looking after my cousin for the last six months, I reluctantly decided it was time for her to go into a care home. We lived close to the home for a number of years so it was the first one I tried. They could not have been more helpful and my cousin moved in within a week. Her room is lovely and the staff could not have been more welcoming. As I have been unwell over the Christmas period I was even sent a photo showing her having a good time. Some other relatives visited this week and they were extremely impressed.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. Making the decision for a loved one to move into a care home can be extremely difficult but we are pleased to hear that this was made slightly easier by the team at Malden House. Its lovely know that your cousin enjoyed Christmas and even though...

Meet the Team (2)

Originally from Devon, I returned after spending 25 years living in Canada. A large focus of my career has been in senior operations in luxury hotels and then transitioned and trained into Social care and Retirement living sector. I love mentoring and coaching teams. I find that working with our residents and supporting their lives is very fulfilling. I am proud of each team I work with and bringing all aspects of the home together to create a wonderful home for our residents with exceptional care.
Hartford Care is a progressive company that I wanted to be part of. It holds values that resonate with me personally. I am pleased to lead the team at Maldon House which is a CQC ‘outstanding’ home. When I first came to Malden House I was met with warmth, laughter and a truly vibrant community. There are endless activities and engagement with the team is so prevalent. I have already enjoyed getting to know the residents and team. It is lovely being part of the Sidmouth Community which is very supportive of Malden House.

My name is Gabrielle, but better known as Gabby. I have worked in care since 1992 and can honestly say I have enjoyed many parts of this rewarding profession.
I have performed many roles and each one has brought different things to the table. It has meant that I have had the privilege of meeting and caring for so many people from different walks of life, different characters and different concerns.
I have worked at Malden House for thirteen years. I feel honoured that I have reached the point where I can support as Deputy Manager alongside Tabitha our Manager.
We understand what a difficult transition it is for elderly people, some with dementia to move into a care setting but this extends to the families too. We aim to support all.
I feel privileged to work in such a caring home and I feel honoured to share the experiences and lives of our ladies and gentlemen who have done so much for us and even the country as a whole.
