A hidden gem of a care facility on the outskirts of the popular seaside town of Sidmouth. It runs as a well-oiled machine providing exceptional personal care either one-to-one or in a group setting. Obviously the staff have received a high level of training through the guidance of a high-level management team. Would highly recommend.

We have been very reassured by how well my father has been cared for with dignity as his dementia slowly declines. The carer keeps me very up-to-date with his progress and any changes. I don’t think I would see how anything could be improved. We are very happy.
Thank you so much for your lovely review. We are so happy you are pleased with the level of care your father receives and you feel well-informed. We shall pass on your kind comments to the team.
The staff are extremely caring to Mum and she really appreciates them because she tells me of her own volition. When I have visited I have always found Malden House to be just like a homely home and all the staff very helpful.

Excellent staff, great care, keep the residents engaged with a whole variety of activities including individual outings, great food, keep us well informed in terms of care needs and any changes. Would highly recommend Malden House to anyone who is looking for a care home in East Devon.

My mum stayed at Malden House Care Home for a short respite whilst I went on holiday and was very happy there. The staff are all wonderful, nothing was too much trouble and apparently, the food was brilliant! She will be very happy to be booked in again when I need another break. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for your kind words, we will ensure we pass on your compliments to the chef and the rest of the team. It was our pleasure to care for your mum and hopefully, we can welcome her back to Malden House again soon.
The staff were always cheerful and could not have been more helpful.
There was always something going on, trips out.
Her end-of-life care was second to done. I will always be grateful to the staff at Malden.

Mum moved into Malden House when she was no longer able to cope at home alone due to her dementia. The staff have all been very kind and treat her with good humour which Mum really responds to. Although Mum would never have chosen to go into a care home, we feel that Malden House is the very best for her we could have found and she has been settled there for more than a year now. Mum has benefitted greatly from the outings and other activities, particularly helping with cooking and baking and using the garden. Communication with the staff is very good and although they are of course very busy we are made to feel welcome and part of the household when we visit. The staff always stress that Malden House should feel like Mum's home to us as well as to her. Huge thanks to all at Malden House.
It is great to hear that your mum has settled in to Malden House well and that, as a family, you also feel at home. I am sure all the staff and management will be pleased to hear that your mum benefits greatly from the activities and enjoys the trips out and helping with the baking as well as spending time in the garden. Your kind words will be passed on to all the staff.
My wonderful parents both suffered from dementia and became Malden House residents in January 2020. They were cared for there with gentleness and kindness by the amazing staff. One of my favourite memories is of Mum being escorted into the Halloween Ball by the maintenance man, who like all the team often went above and beyond their normal duties to enrich the lives of residents. As time went on and their dementia progressed, Malden staff adapted their care and sought advice from other care professionals when needed. Mum died in August 2022 and Dad just 2 weeks ago in April 2023. Both were able to die in quiet, private peace at Malden and I am forever grateful to the team there for enabling that. Thank you and God bless you all.
Thank you for your kind review of Malden House, especially at what must be a difficult time for you and your family. We are so pleased to have been able to provide care and support to both your mum and dad and adapt our care to suit their needs until the very end. We loved having them live with us...
Most of my ratings are excellent, however, the room my friend is in is very basic, although acceptable to my friend, little things like a towel rail would help a lot so that towels do not cover half the sink! It has been mentioned a number of times and is on some list of things to be done. Having said that, I cannot fault anything else at Malden House and would highly recommend it.
Thank you for taking the time to submit your very positive review of your friend's care and accommodation at our Malden House home. We'll make sure that your comment with regard to the addition of a towel rail in your friend's room is actioned, and thank you for bringing this to our attention. Warm wishes to you.

Meet the Team (2)

Originally from Devon, I returned after spending 25 years living in Canada. A large focus of my career has been in senior operations in luxury hotels and then transitioned and trained into Social care and Retirement living sector. I love mentoring and coaching teams. I find that working with our residents and supporting their lives is very fulfilling. I am proud of each team I work with and bringing all aspects of the home together to create a wonderful home for our residents with exceptional care.
Hartford Care is a progressive company that I wanted to be part of. It holds values that resonate with me personally. I am pleased to lead the team at Maldon House which is a CQC ‘outstanding’ home. When I first came to Malden House I was met with warmth, laughter and a truly vibrant community. There are endless activities and engagement with the team is so prevalent. I have already enjoyed getting to know the residents and team. It is lovely being part of the Sidmouth Community which is very supportive of Malden House.

My name is Gabrielle, but better known as Gabby. I have worked in care since 1992 and can honestly say I have enjoyed many parts of this rewarding profession.
I have performed many roles and each one has brought different things to the table. It has meant that I have had the privilege of meeting and caring for so many people from different walks of life, different characters and different concerns.
I have worked at Malden House for thirteen years. I feel honoured that I have reached the point where I can support as Deputy Manager alongside Tabitha our Manager.
We understand what a difficult transition it is for elderly people, some with dementia to move into a care setting but this extends to the families too. We aim to support all.
I feel privileged to work in such a caring home and I feel honoured to share the experiences and lives of our ladies and gentlemen who have done so much for us and even the country as a whole.
