Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Choosing Alton Place for Mum was a big leap of faith in a brand new space and the management. As we were the first resident in the door we weren't able to see what day to day life would look like. All the management staff were kind and took time connect genuinely with mum, and have been dedicated to
building a sense of community from the get go. Any worries on my behalf quickly dissipated. They proactively reviewed medication with the doctor, thinking about mums needs and wants. They quickly sorted the district nurse which I had been struggling to achieve in the community for a long time. All the carers have been so kind they have formed a great team all with different strengths. Choosing a care home is a difficult and very weighted decision and so I am very grateful for the people at Alton Place, and all the effort, kindness and connection shown to my mum every day.

Alton Place

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
I have to visit the new Alton Place nursing home several times each week to care for an old married couple who are in their late 80's and who are enjoying their stay so much that they can no longer remember the bungalow that they were living in and still own.

In fact, the home is so lovely and new
that you could mistake it for a 5-star hotel. The staff are all so friendly and helpful which makes the atmosphere so relaxed, and nothing is too much trouble for them.

The home has a beautiful cinema room and a luxury hair salon. The outlook from the rooms is across a lovely lawn to a forest of trees and since the rooms have French doors and windows to each side the rooms have a lovely view and are very light and very spacious. All in all, if you like luxury you will not be disappointed if you have to go into this nursing home.

Alton Place

Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
Alton Place's greatest asset is its staff. Without exception they are compassionate, patient, hardworking, dependable and fun. They could not do more to cater for the residents' needs, always with good humour.

There is a varied programme of daily activities, many of which are open to family,

friends and sometimes the wider public. Outings in the adapted minibus are undertaken to local places of interest or maybe just to a suitable shop or cafe. Everything possible is done to keep the residents mentally and physically active and engaged, though quieter sessions are also planned for reminiscing, creative activities, etc.

The furnishings, decor and layout are bright, stylish and spacious. There are frequent film shows in the purpose built cinema, complete with popcorn and pamper sessions in the hair/nail salon.

The menu choices sometimes seems a little inappropriate for older residents, but this is a work in progress and can be adapted according to popularity.

Dad attends every Monday, plus goes along to some of the activities on other days. Everyone so friendly, and fun. I have no worries leaving dad there, I know he is safe and well cared for. Very wide range of activities to suit every taste. Community welcome to join in too. Dad enjoys his days there,
loves the food. Residents I talk to tell me say they are always being fed! It gives him a fun day out, mixing with others, with staff watching out for him and encouraging him to join in and experience new things and companionship. Family made just as welcome even though dad only attends 1 day a week. All one big family, lovely atmosphere.

Lovely spacious care home - like a hotel. Good size and well equipped bedroom & ensuite. Staff kind and friendly. Food excellent. Bins and rubbish not emptied or removed daily. Clothes not labelled in order to be washed. Clothes lost. Table/pill found on floor of bedroom. Dirty bed linen not seen until
pointed out by family. No floor sensor mat as promised to monitor dad at night. Dad's legs not regularly washed and treated leading to bleeding and soreness. No consistent supervision when walking and lack of regular monitoring. Family seeking recompense.

Would just like to say, we decided to put our mum in care home as we all work, and she agreed with the idea, for a short period, but my mum loves it there, and want to stay there,I couldn't ask for better care, and have no worries when I go home, Jino helped with everything to get my mum in there,
he couldn't of been more helpful, the manager Sarah, is brilliant, any problems she deals with it straight away, all the care staff are so helpful and caring , and can't do enough, I'm so glad we picked Woodchurch House, would not let her go anywhere else now, food is lovely and if they can will get want she wants, could not recommend this care home enough.

Cornford House

When mum was discharged to assess to Cornford House it was a distressing time for mum and the family. She couldn't live at home anymore due to her complex needs. Change can be very unsettling and scary. The staff were wonderful. They reassured and guided us every step of the way. The home has a friendly
atmosphere and we were always made welcome when we visited. Mum joined in the activities and soon became settled and happy in her new surroundings. They even put on a special tea for mum and dads 60th wedding anniversary and put a lovely framed picture of the day in mums room. Mums nursing needs were met and we could keep updated by using the care records online app. Mum had regular manicures and facials and always looked glowing. I never worried about leaving her there. The care staff are very dedicated and kind. They are very respectful to each residents needs. I would definitely recommend this care home.

They go above and beyond to include everyone that wants to be involved. They work really hard physically and invest time emotionally with both the residents

Mum has transferred to Woodlands House from another care home, and whilst Woodlands House does not look like a 4 * hotel, its traditional charm, character and overall friendliness are much nicer and more homely. The food is excellent and most of the staff take time to chat to her in a really friendly
down to earth way. It's still early days for us, but in comparison to where she was staying, we are much happier. This is the best place for her and cheaper!
