My father has been in Boulters Lock care home since March 2025 and I have waited 6 months before writing this review to be sure it is representative of an extended period. I have nothing but praise for the care home and the staff who work there. They made my father very welcome from the start. He has
a lovely room and the communal areas are very bright and airy. The carers arrange regular daily activities to keep the residents occupied and are very attentive to their needs. It has been a difficult time for the whole family and the staff are always so welcoming to me and my mum when we visit.
They clearly try to make the stay as happy and rewarding as possible for the residents. I thoroughly recommend this care home.

My husband was at Newland House for more than two years and throughout that time he was treated with great consideration and care. While not the most luxurious of home, it has a very friendly atmosphere and the staff are wonderful. Newland House really does feel like a family home. I could not have
wished for better care.

I visited on my mother's birthday and was greeted by staff as always. While my sister and I were there we had a visit from the new area manager (i think) to introduce herself and several staff popped in to makre sure we were ok and if wanted tea or coffee. I fed my mother as I like to do this as there
isn't much interaction we can do in her confition, so feeding her makes us feel a little helpful and connected. I have personally recommended Newland house to many of my friends as its the kind of place (if I ever needed great care) I would like to end up in.

Overall I am pleased with the care I received. Everybody was very helpful, including tea at 4 in the morning when I couldn't sleep. I understand that caring for so many patients is difficult most of whom somewhat elderly. Possibly a little more fresh fruit for breakfast or an alternative to the heavier
puddings. I did find the soup was delicious with the sandwiches for tea. Thank you all for looking after me, and all the physio staff who helped me walk again. All in all a good experience and I wouldn't hesitate recommending you to anyone.

On visiting our friend, we were horrified to see that a staff meeting took precedence over his distress at requiring the toilet urgenty. The manager said he would be attended to when the meeting had finished.
1) Callous
2) Not putting resident's needs first
3) Not leaving at least one member of staff
on duty during meeting.
Would not recommend this company or home.
Reply from Lindsay Mahoney, Hospitality & Wellbeing Manager at Burnham Lodge

We take all feedback seriously, though in this case we do not believe the account reflects what happens in our home. Our records show no such incident, as described, occurred. For reassurance to families: Staff meetings are held by department only, so nurses or carers are always on duty. A staff member is always appointed to respond to call bells and resident needs during meetings. Our lounge is continuously staffed, as we support residents requiring 1-to-1 care. The comfort and dignity of our residents are always our highest priority, and we encourage anyone with concerns to contact us directly so we can respond openly.

Mum has been on respite care at Harlow Hall for 5 weeks now. She has settled in well overall and interactions with staff have been excellent. The lounge is light, spacious and welcoming to visitors. Her room overlooks the garden and has ample storage for clothes and shelving for home comforts. Bathroom
is very spacious with walk in shower.
Staff are in constant attendance to all the residents needs.
As a visitor, Harlow Hall is a calming place to visit. Staff are highly trained and have years of experience in care. Their knowledge and advice is invaluable.I have felt fully supported at all times.

My grandmother has been living at Cotsworld Rise a while now, and we couldn't be happier. The staff are so caring and always take time to chat with her. She especially loves the activities - bingo night is her favorite!
The home is clean, welcoming, and feels like a real community. Her room is cozy
and a great size, and we always feel reassured knowing she's safe and well looked after. We're so grateful for the kindness and attention the Gemma, Tim and the team show her every day.
I would highly reccomend Cotsworld rise for the quality of care and the building is beautiful.

Mum was always very clear that she never wanted to go into a care home, and as a family we worried about how she might adjust if the time ever came. However, within just a few days of being at Harlow Hall, she completely surprised us - she settled in so well and quickly began to love it there. The environment
is warm, welcoming, and feels more like a home than we ever imagined.
The staff have been nothing short of amazing. They treat Mum with kindness, patience, and genuine compassion, making her feel valued and respected. Their gentle approach and constant attentiveness have given her a real sense of comfort and belonging.
For us as a family, knowing that Mum is safe, cared for, and happy brings such peace of mind. We no longer carry the worry of whether she is being looked after properly. We are so grateful to Harlow Hall for giving her this quality of life.

The Laurels & Pine Lodge

There's always a full programme of events for the residents - family fun days, bus trips and musical entertainment. I attended the family day in August and it is easy to see how my relative enjoys sitting and watching what is going on, it provides social interaction and something to talk about. The
home is also keen to encourage family members to participate - the recent relatives' meeting was an opportunity for the home to lay out it's plans for the short (and longer) term, and for relatives to ask questions. All rounded off with a fun quiz.
Though the staff put in a lot of work for these events, my siblings and I see them also putting the same effort in for the more mundane activities and tasks (this includes the housekeeping and catering staff who seem to know the names of all the residents). We feel we made the right decision when choosing The Laurels.

Reply from Lindsay Mahoney, Hospitality & Wellbeing Manager at Boulters Lock Residential Home

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. The lounge area has recently had an extension added which now provides more space for residents and guests.
