I was overwhelmed by the support the Manager gave me as I had to accept that I could no longer care safely for my wife with Alzheimers at home. They have been so patient, understanding, care-full treating her with dignity and respect at all times eventhough her illness has made it difficult sometimes. The whole environment, facilities, welcome, reassurance, couldn't be bettered with visitors welcome at any time which is an excellent sign. I am so glad she has a place there. Thank you to all the team there who do a magnificent job in sometimes trying circumstances. If further reassurance or comment from me is needed to affirm their truly well deserved 'outstanding' label please do not hesitate to ask.
Thank you so much for your heartfelt review. We are truly grateful for your kind words and are honoured that you chose Tegfield to care for your wife. We understand how difficult this decision was, and we're pleased we could provide the support, reassurance and compassionate care you both deserved....
Re-food: It is not possible to put a cross in the Food+Drink box, because since I arrived there has been a search for a new chef. It can vary between poor to reasonable, to good depending which chef is on duty.
Thank you for your review! It's lovely to hear that you're enjoying your room at Tegfield House and that you get to spend time with your daughter exploring your new surroundings.
We appreciate your honest feedback and will ensure your comments are shared with the team, we are always looking to improve and provide the best possible experience for our residents.
Fantastic care home with happy diligent staff. Food is always home cooked and tasty. The residents are always able to interact and there are plenty of activities for all the participate in. Staff are always cheerful and engage with residence at every opportunity. There is always a cleaner on duty keeping the home clean and tidy for all to enjoy. Thanks.
It's wonderful to know that our team, activities, and home cooked meals have made such a difference, and your comments about the staff and cleanliness will mean a great deal to everyone here. Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback.
My mother took a while to settle in the home. But now she is much happier. The staff are all caring and understanding. They try to get mum to join in activities which she does enjoy.
Our team works hard to provide caring and understanding support, and it's lovely to know they encourage your mum to take part in activities that she enjoys. Thank you for trusting us with her care.
A nice, well cared for home which my mother-in-law seems to feel at home in. The facilities are fine, and there are plenty of quality activities. Our dog is always made welcome. My only complaint is that only the staff can open any external doors, so we are left standing in the cold and rain until they appear. On busy days this can be a good few minutes.
Thank you for your review. We're pleased to hear that your mother-in-law feels at home and that you enjoy our facilities and activities-plus it's always lovely to welcome your dog! We also appreciate your constructive note regarding external doors and will review ways to improve the experience for...
Moving a loved one to a care home is a very difficult time but from the very start the Manager and Head of Care were excellent in their support and Mum was made to feel so welcome. She has settled in really well and is content, safe, happy and very well cared for - all thanks to the amazing care she receives - the staff are patient, kind and caring. Nothing is too much trouble and the home itself has multiple spacious communal areas giving residents plenty of space. Tegfield has a real family feeling and we are so grateful Mum is now living in a such a safe and happy environment.
Thank you for sharing your experience and kind words. We're delighted to hear that your mum has settled in so well and feels happy, safe, and cared for at Tegfield. It's wonderful to know that our team's patience, kindness, and dedication have made a difference, and that the home's welcoming...
I and my family are very happy that my husband is well and safely cared for at Tegfield. The staff are kind, vigilant and helpful to residents and family alike. We, the family, all have a less anxious life because of them.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. It is lovely to hear how the level of care and support your husband receives at Tegfield House eases any anxiety and, as a family you can rest assured he is safe and well cared for. We will pass on your kind words to the team at Tegfield.
The recent upgrade in decor/patio/garden, etc., has, in general, worked well, although the home has lost some of its ambience and homeliness in favour of hospital-like cleanliness. This is especially free of the front reception area, where a hotel-like reception "barrier" has been installed around a desk. This makes the visitor feel quite unwelcome. In my view, this is the worst feature of the new refurbishment. I would suggest a rethink of the reception area.
Thank you for sharing your feedback, we really appreciate your thoughts. We're glad to hear you felt the upgrades to the decor, patio, and garden have worked well overall. That said, we're sorry the new reception area hasn't felt as welcoming for you as intended. Our intention was to modernise...
Everyone worries about sending their parents to the care of strangers in a residential home, I chose Tegfield House from the four visited because it just felt good, warm, unfussy and above all caring. So glad I did, they are uniformly lovely, genuine, supportive and all you could hope for. They also went above and beyond by chasing up a test result from the GP that had been mislaid.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are pleased to hear how happy you are with choosing Tegfield House to care for and support your loved one. We are also happy to know how, supportive and welcoming the team are. We will pass on your kind words to the team and Tegfield House.
The soon to be completed building work has meant a full car park and some extra noise but everyone has been helpful and worked hard in making the best of it. Staff are always very attentive when we visit and there is a nice feeling in the building. Visiting hours are fully flexible and we always feel welcome when we visit.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review and thank you for your patience while we complete our new extension at Tegfield House. We are pleased to know that your are made to feel welcome when you visit and not only are the team attentive to the residents needs but also their loved ones and visitors. Your kind words will be passed on to the team at Tegfield House.
Our friend & neighbour unwell and needed urgently to be admitted to a local care home. We found Tegfield House very helpful and very sympathetic, caring and on the community services advice our very elderly friend was admitted. We have visited her regularly over the past four months and she has blossomed under the care received. Food is exceptional, and well presented, room always clean and tidy, staff always caring to residents and welcoming to visitors. It is always a pleasure to enter Tegfield House.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. It is wonderful to hear how your friend is settled and flourishing under the care and support of the team at Tegfield House. We are glad that you receive a warm welcome and enjoy your visits to Tegfield House. We will pass on these kind words to the whole team.
My relative has been in Tegfield House since November, I have found the level of care very good and although my relative is not a particularly social person he has fitted in well. His health issues have been cared for in a very kind and caring way. He has taken a while to settle and needs reassurance constantly which I feel has been provided.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. It is great to know that your loved one is being well cared for and supported at Tegfield House and he is settled and reassured in a caring way. We will pass on your kind words to the team at Tegfield House.
Day trips to see Christmas lights and markets, a visit from a donkey! (Amazing)
All carers were fantastic over the festive period making everyone feel welcome (visitors).

I was able to visit my mother in December - I live overseas - so not something I'm able to do often. Mum and I have been able to keep in touch via video chats, an enormous plus for us. Mum's hearing and sight are not great, but with help from the activities staff we have managed to communicate throughout the year. During my visit I was able to have lunch with Mum! Can't beat the fish and chips on Friday! Mum is not one to hold back on complaints, especially where food is concerned - I have heard none! All members of staff I saw interacted with all the patients - Mum has a sweet relationship with some in particular that I was fortunate to witness! It is very reassuring to know Mum is looked after so well in a warm and friendly environment. I'm aware Mum has her own routine, that she does not like to change, but she is gently encouraged to participate in all the activities! Thank you all for looking after Mum.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. It is great to know that you are able to regularly keep in contact with your mum via video chats but more wonderful to know you were able to spend some time with your mum in her home and witness how happy and well cared for she is. Fish and chip...
My late mother was a resident in Tegfield House for approximately 2.5 years (she sadly died December 2023). I have nothing but praise for the care she received during her final years. Tegfield is a warm and friendly home where visitors and family are always made welcome. There are so many activities arranged for the residents along with trips out and musical events arranged in-house. I shall always be grateful for the kindness and care shown to my mother and myself along with the other residents and their families.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review and please accept our condolences on the loss of your mother. It is heartwarming to hear how your mother's final years were happy at Tegfield House where she was well cared for and supported and, as a family, you were all made to feel welcome. Once again, thank you for writing these kind words which will be passed on to the team at Tegfield House.
Mum has been at Tegfield House for nearly seven years and is very settled and contented. She is very well cared for. The staff are all helpful and caring. I value regular online chats with Mum, facilitated by the activities coordinator, as well as in-person visits. There are lots of activities for residents as well as great food and personal care.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. It is great to hear how happy and settled your mum is at Tegfield House and that you are happy with the care and support she receives. The residents' well-being is always at the forefront of everything we do at Hartford Care and regular contact...
My aunt who has been a resident at Tegfield for over 12 years celebrated her 103rd birthday on April 23rd. Well Tegfield House provided wonderful day of celebrations for her. We arrived at 10:30 to warm welcome. A singer serenaded us for an hour. A lovely lunch with my aunt's choice of menu and a beautiful cake, well done to all the staff. A thoughtful present and lots of balloons. We have no worries about my aunt's care at Tegfield. If all homes were as good there would be no problems in the care sector.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are so happy to hear how happy you are with the level of care and support your aunt receives at Tegfield House. It is also great to hear how your aunt enjoyed her birthday celebrations and how the day was centred around your aunt. We will pass on your kind words to all the team at Tegfield House.
I made contact with Tegfield House with a view for respite care. However my husband's condition worsened and I developed a painful back. On short notice, I was admitted to hospital and very pleased they could admit him long-term. I could not visit for several weeks so pleased to find him well settled and staff very caring. I now visit and have lunch and I am impressed with the standard of food and to see him eating well. I notice how caring the staff are to all residents with different needs. I am impressed by the activities he has been given help him.
Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review. It is our pleasure caring for your husband at Tegfield, it is wonderful to hear that the staff are always so accommodating and friendly when you visit the home. We are so proud of our activities team, enriching the lives of our residents...
My mother arrived at Tegfield House nearly two years ago, new to a care home, having lived independently until she was 95 years old. She was welcomed into a warm, friendly, homely environment and adjusted with time. The carers are sympathetic, empathetic and are generally keen to ensure the residents are happy and settled in their environment. The food is excellent, full of nutritious goodness. There are activities offered to encourage socialisation within the home which is lovely to see. The carers are polite and well-mannered and show respect to their residents. I would thoroughly recommend this home to those considering a care home.
Thank you for taking the time to write these kind words. It's great to hear that after such a long time living independently, your mother has settled in well at Tegfield House and is being well cared for by all the staff. It is especially nice to hear that your mother is enjoying the activities at...
Mum has been at Tegfield House for about three months now and has settled in very well. The staff are all very friendly, caring and helpful and Mum enjoys being involved in the many and varied activities that are laid on for the residents. A lovely home with a lovely, homely feel! It is good to know that Mum is being so well cared for.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We are so pleased to hear that your mum has settled in so very well at Tegfield House and your mind is put at rest that she is being well cared for. We will pass on your kind words to all the staff who will be really happy to hear this.

Meet the Team (2)

I am honoured to introduce myself as the manager of Tegfield House. With over 30 years of experience in elderly care, I have always been passionate about ensuring people living in care homes are supported to live their best lives. This passion led me to join Hartford Care just over a year ago as the deputy manager, and I am thrilled to step into this new role.
Tegfield House is such a special place. Our home is more than just a care home; it is a family where we celebrate each individual's uniqueness, whether they are residents or staff. At Tegfield House, joy, laughter and treating everyone with the respect and level of care we would want for ourselves is something I deeply value and intend to uphold.
As we move forward together, I aim to ensure that we continue to provide outstanding care and maintain the warm, family-like environment that makes Tegfield House so wonderful. I look forward to working closely with all of you to create a place where everyone feels valued, happy, and well cared for.

I have been working in the care sector for 10 years, 7 of which were spent at Hartford Care. I began my journey at Tegfield House as a Care Assistant, gradually progressing to Senior Care Assistant, and currently, I hold the position of Head of Care.
I enjoy working at Tegfield House because it has a warm, homely atmosphere, and we continue to grow and develop as a team. I hold NVQ Level 2 and 3 qualifications and am currently working towards completing my NVQ Level 5.
I am excited to watch Tegfield House expand and continue offering exceptional care to those in need.
