The staff are very caring and compassionate as well as being reassuringly professional and I feel confident that Mum is being very well looked after and is happy at Tegfield House. Would definitely recommend to others.

Very friendly and caring. I have no worries leaving my husband there and he is very happy.
Thank you for leaving this kind review. We are very happy to hear how happy your husband is at Tegfield House and him being there gives you peace of mind. We will pass on your lovely words to all the staff.
My mother has been extremely well looked after since moving into the home in October 2023. Nothing is ever too much trouble for the staff.
Thank you for your kind words and taking the time to write this review. We are very pleased to hear how happy you are with your mother's care and that she is being well looked after. We will pass this on to the staff at Tegfield House who we are sure will be very happy to hear this.
Since August 2023, when my wife was admitted to Tegfield House, she has been treated with the utmost kindness. The homely atmosphere is apparent the moment you enter Tegfield.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review and for your kind words. We will pass these on to the manager and staff at Tegfield House who will no doubt be pleased to hear how happy you are with your wife's care.
My mum is very happy and content since she moved into Tegfield House. The care staff are excellent, very friendly and approachable and look after my mother's needs very well. As Tegfield House is a small care home, everyone knows everyone else well and this builds friendships and trust between both staff and residents. It is always enjoyable to visit, with various activities organised. We always feel welcome to visit at anytime. The home is spotlessly clean with a very good cook in the kitchen!
It's great to hear how happy you are with your mother's care at Tegfield House. We are pleased that your mum is happy and settled and that the staff are looking after her well and that she is enjoying the meals and the activities provided. Thank you for taking the time to write this review and we will pass on these kind words to all the staff at Tegfield House.
The staff are always welcoming and friendly. There has been re-decoration of the public rooms plus new chairs and settees in the lounge which look very smart, I think the temperature is right for the winter months whilst the terrace outside is a delight in the warmer weather. The home is always spotlessly clean and tidy too.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are happy to hear you are happy with the staff and facilities at Tegfield House and will pass on these kind words to the manager and staff.
My wife has severe Alzheimer's and is incontinent, so needs special care. I believe that the staff are very patient with her, as they are with all the residents. I have told the manager that I do not think that the TV programmes selected in the lounge are generally suitable for older residents, that is my only complaint. I like the manager's open door policy.
Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments, the team will be pleased to hear this. We will review your feedback regarding the TV programme selection.
Tegfield House has always provided good care in a friendly and relaxed environment. My aunt flourished there despite her dementia, enjoying the activities and the kindness of the staff. Tegfield also provided excellent end-of-life care avoiding the unnecessary stress of a final hospital visit and she was able to experience a dignified and peaceful end in familiar surroundings.
It's so kind of you to take the time and trouble to submit such a lovely review of our Tegfield House home, at what must be a difficult time for you and your family following your aunt's death. We're sure that the team at Tegfield will be very grateful to hear your comments and we send you our warm wishes.
I used to be a medical social worker in the hospital and then a social worker in the community looking after older people. I have recommended this home to patients and their families since the mid 70's because I have always been so impressed by the staff and the care received by residents. My former German teacher is very happy here and I feel welcome when I visit.
Thank you so much for your support in the community for our Tegfield home - for what amounts to nearly 50 years! Your very kind comments about our staff and the care they provide are so valued and gratefully received and we will take much pleasure in passing this on to the team. We're so glad to...
I've never once had cause to be anything other than delighted with the day to day care she receives. It's absolutely first class.
Plus I can't visit that often as I live a long way away, but they regularly supply updates online and I often see smiling, happy photos of Aunty.
Nothing is too much trouble, I can even email them a letter and it will be printed out and given to her that same day.
All in all - a fantastic care home run by lovely people. Thank you Tegfield.
Thank you so much for your kind review. We absolutely love having your aunt living with us. We know it's difficult to visit, so we will always do everything we can to keep you and your family updated on your aunt's care and details of what she has been up to, it's our pleasure to help in any way we can.
The staff are very kind and caring. They are regularly in contact with me and do everything they can to improve my mother's wellbeing and quality of life in the home. They host lovely family events regularly that provide entertainment and lovely food, which helps to make the home more homely.
We are so pleased you are happy with the level of care, and quality of life your mother is receiving at Tegfield House. We love hosting events, and we welcome friends and family to come and join us anytime - the more, the merrier! Thank you for your kind review.
I have not seen my dad as happy as he is at this home for a long time. He is being well looked after and enjoying the company, activities and food choices.
My dad only moved in three weeks ago and he is very happy and content. The staff are very caring and polite. He is enjoying the food choice. It's absolutely fantastic to see him smiling again. Thank you very much.
What lovely words about Tegfield House. We are thrilled to have him as part of our family and to see him so happy, contented and smiling in our care. We will share your wonderful comments with all the Tegfield team.
My dad has only been in the care home for three weeks but is really happy there. He loves the food and is enjoying the banter he has with the staff. He says the room is very comfortable and he sleeps well.
Thank you very much for your fantastic feedback about Tegfield House. It is our pleasure to have your dad as part of our happy Tegfield family. We are delighted he has settled in so well with us and enjoying some banter with our team members. It is also good to know he feels comfortable in his room and is sleeping soundly. We shall also pass on his compliments to our super chef!
Just home from visiting my dad who has lived in Tegfield House for over 12 months now and felt I needed to add a review for anyone worried about future plans for loved ones. It wasn't a decision we made lightly as a family and visited a few different places before Dad moved in. The staff at Tegfield are always so welcoming, kind, friendly and accommodating whilst keeping all safe. As it's a smaller home, they know all the residents well and the transition was easy with support for both our dad and for us as a family too. Thank you to all at Tegfield House.
What wonderful feedback about Tegfield House! We are so thrilled you entrusted the care of your dad to us and that you are happy with the way in which we are supporting him. We do understand what a difficult decision this was for you, but we are so glad to have you all as part of our Tegfield family. We shall share your lovely comments with all our welcoming Tegfield team.
We don't get to visit my husband's aunt as often as we would like to but when we do make the trip, we are always made very welcome. Everyone that looks after the residents at Tegfield House are very special people. They are kind and very obviously dedicated to both the people that live there and their families and treat them as their own. Tegfield House is a beautiful place where their elderly residents are treated with love and respect. The activities are fun and engaging - we love to see all the mischievous pictures on your Facebook feed. Thank you for everything.
Thank you very much for your fantastic feedback about Tegfield House. It is a pleasure to look after your aunt and we are always delighted to see you when you come to visit her. We are all one big happy family at Tegfield and it is lovely to have you all as part of it.
My father spent the last 18-months of his life in the emotionally-warm, supportive setting of Tegfield House. The staff rightly needed to wear masks and so he found it difficult to identify specific individuals but from his comments, I gather he found all the staff members involved in his care to be equally supportive and helpful. His room, in which he chose to spend almost all his time, was light and bright and kept clean by diligent staff members. He had the option of participating in a wide range of activities, but the staff respected his wish to refrain from this. During his final few weeks, as throughout all his time there, he was treated with great respect and kindness and ended his days peacefully in the setting he had come to consider his final home. I cannot praise or recommend the staff and management more highly.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments about Tegfield House. It was our pleasure and privilege to support your father, who was such a kind, clever and gentle man. We will share your gratitude and appreciation with all the Tegfield team who looked after him.
My dear old mum just passed away at almost 101, having lived the last four years at Tegfield House. I cannot say enough thanks to all the Tegfield staff for just how very well they cared for and about her there. As I live abroad, it was with some trepidation for both mother and I when she first moved in, but she quickly became integrated into the Tegfield family and came to love the comfy, attractive home and lovely garden. It is always clean, tidy, and well maintained. There are great activities for the residents with a very talented activity director, good food and lots of cups of tea and coffee on the go, always good for older folks! Of course, the last two years have been a challenge for everyone, but the Tegfield house staff managed things with great diligence and I was never worried. I am incredibly comforted and pleased that Mum's last years were in such great surroundings with warm, kindhearted people who genuinely care about their residents. Thank you all.
What a wonderful review of Tegfield House. We cannot begin to tell you how much we all adored your mother. Her beautiful smile lit up our lives and it was such a pleasure to care for her. We shall never forget her 100th birthday party last year which was such an elegant and fun afternoon. We shall...
My wife’s Aunt is a resident of Tegfield House. She has lived there for 10 years. I am very pleased with the care she receives. It gives my wife peace of mind to know her Aunt is so well looked after. As we live 100 miles away it is very important to have chosen the right care home. It is a bright cheerful home with a large garden which is lovely in the Summer when they have barbecues and other events for family and residents. We are all treated like one big family. We are always welcomed with great warmth. The rooms are cosy and residents can have their personal things around them. They have excellent meals served in a pleasant bright dining room. Some residents eat in their rooms. The staff are excellent as is the Manager. My wife is kept informed about any health problems and what actions have been taken. There are activities for the residents to join in with, if they want to. It was very reassuring to have video calls during the lockdown.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review of Tegfield House. We are delighted to have you all as part of our terrific Tegfield family. It is reassuring for us to know we are giving your wife peace of mind over the way in which we are caring for her Aunt. We are very proud of our lovely cheerful home and we shall share your superb comments with all the Tegfield team.
My father has been at Tegfield House since mid June this year. He has settled in really well and definitely regards it as his home now. The manager and her amazing team were fantastic at helping Dad settle in and answered all of our questions with patience and kindness. Nothing was too much trouble. They organised his paintings to be put up on the walls and helped to make his room cosy and homely. All the carers have been fantastic and have such a genuinely kind and thoughtful way when they speak to Dad - it is lovely to see. On August 12th, Dad turned 100 and the Tegfield staff organised a fabulous birthday morning. Some naval personnel attended and presented Dad with a certificate. A beautiful cake had been made, accompanied by singing by residents and family. The residents had also made a lovely banner. It was such a special morning. Thank you to all. An article with photos appeared in the local newspaper coordinated by Hartford Care and the home manager.
We are so thrilled with your fantastic review of Tegfield House. It is our absolute pleasure to look after your wonderful father, who has settled in so well with us in such a short time. It is a real privilege to have you all as part of our Tegfield House family and to have made his 100th birthday such a special occasion for you all. We shall share your comments with our terrific Tegfield team.

Meet the Team (2)

I am honoured to introduce myself as the manager of Tegfield House. With over 30 years of experience in elderly care, I have always been passionate about ensuring people living in care homes are supported to live their best lives. This passion led me to join Hartford Care just over a year ago as the deputy manager, and I am thrilled to step into this new role.
Tegfield House is such a special place. Our home is more than just a care home; it is a family where we celebrate each individual's uniqueness, whether they are residents or staff. At Tegfield House, joy, laughter and treating everyone with the respect and level of care we would want for ourselves is something I deeply value and intend to uphold.
As we move forward together, I aim to ensure that we continue to provide outstanding care and maintain the warm, family-like environment that makes Tegfield House so wonderful. I look forward to working closely with all of you to create a place where everyone feels valued, happy, and well cared for.

I have been working in the care sector for 10 years, 7 of which were spent at Hartford Care. I began my journey at Tegfield House as a Care Assistant, gradually progressing to Senior Care Assistant, and currently, I hold the position of Head of Care.
I enjoy working at Tegfield House because it has a warm, homely atmosphere, and we continue to grow and develop as a team. I hold NVQ Level 2 and 3 qualifications and am currently working towards completing my NVQ Level 5.
I am excited to watch Tegfield House expand and continue offering exceptional care to those in need.
