Thank you to all the staff who must have had a harrowing year and worked so hard to maintain their own well-being and those of the residents like my mother-in-law.
What fantastic words about Tegfield House. It was such a joy to welcome you into our lovely home to visit your mother-in-law again and for you to see her so happy and well cared for. We hope you will be able to take her out for a coffee outdoors soon. We shall pass on your gratitude and appreciation to our terrific Tegfield team.
Over the past four months, the whole Tegfield team have been very helpful and made sure that my mother settled into the home without difficulty. We could not have wished for a more caring and supportive environment.
Thank you so much for your wonderful words about Tegfield House. It is our pleasure to welcome your mother and you into our Tegfield family.
Mum has been a resident at Tegfield House in Winchester since December 20. As a family, we were extremely anxious about the move as Mum had had a very troubling year mentally, with harrowing experiences for her and for us to contend with whilst in hospital and at another care home. We really should not have worried. From the start, Mum has been happy, comfortable and confident in the care she receives at Tegfield and as a result, whilst still struggling sometimes to come to terms with her advancing years, is happier now than for a very long time. Tegfield is a lovely place to be, but what makes it truly special are the people that work there. It is obvious to us that they love their work and feel deeply for the residents in their care. It has been a joy to see so much of "The Old Mum" return, including her sense of humour and an interest in the wider world. Thank you, Tegfield, for rescuing Mum and us from our anxiety. We all rest easy, knowing she could not be in a better place.
What wonderful words about Tegfield House. Thank you so much for your lovely comments. It means so much to us all. Having your Mum joining our little Tegfield family is a pleasure and a privilege. Like you, we are so delighted to see her thriving again, taking such an interest in what is going on and celebrating a significant birthday with us recently.
I particularly enjoy the garden.
Thank you so much for your lovely words about Tegfield House. It is our pleasure to care for you. We are all looking forward to the spring when we can all go out and enjoy our wonderful garden again.
I am very happy here and would recommend it to friends or relatives. The staff are very helpful when my family call and are all kind to me and supportive.
Thank you so much for your lovely review of Tegfield House. It is our pleasure to look after you, and we will let all our lovely Tegfield team know how much you appreciate everything they are doing to help you.
I would like to say how impressed and happy I have been with the high standard of care that my cousin - now in her nineties and with dementia - has received since she moved into Tegfield House over two years ago. Before the coronavirus restrictions, when I was able to spend time with her in the home, I observed that she and the other residents were always treated with cheerfulness and with respect for their individual personalities. Clearly, a lot of thought and care goes into the provisions of activities and entertainment, and I have in the past eaten many delicious meals there. Now that visiting is, inevitably, very restricted, it is a great comfort to feel fully confident that my cousin is in very safe hands. The manager and staff are very punctilious about keeping us updated and informed about any issues that might arise, and I have found them accessible, understanding and helpful if I have any queries. Tegfield House is a small, family-style home, and there is a definite sense of community, which I believe much enhances the quality of life for its residents. I would wholeheartedly recommend it.
Thank you so much for your lovely words about Tegfield House. It is our pleasure to have your cousin as part of our Tegfield House family. We are delighted you are so happy with the way in which we look after her. These are very challenging times for us all, but our main priority is to keep our...
My beloved Aunt was only at Tegfield for a few weeks after she moved there from hospital until she sadly died. In that time I was blown away by the care and trouble the management and staff took to look after her. They did everything they possibly could for her, making sure she had constant medical help, making her as comfortable as possible and supporting her physically and emotionally. They were by my Aunt’s side throughout her final crisis, and I know she died supported by their warm, loving care, even though they had only known her a few weeks. They were truly outstanding – and more so given the very difficult circumstances with Covid-19. Their procedures to ensure the safety of the residents were superb. I cannot recommend Tegfield House highly enough.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write these wonderful words about the time your lovely Aunt spent with us at Tegfield House. It was our pleasure and privilege to care for her and we only wish that we had had more time to get to know her and her loving family too.
Tegfield House is simply superb. The staff care and take time to talk to the residents. The food is good. The house is homely and the garden is large. The residents have a glass of wine on Sundays, entertainers some evenings and celebrate bonfire night and the rest.
Thank you so much for your very kind words about Tegfield House. We are very much one big happy family here and we love organising activities and events which everyone can enjoy. We look forward to seeing you here again once it is safe to do so.
It's so reassuring to know that Mum is in the best possible place with high standards of care and attention to detail. We really feel that Tegfield is a 'home' but with the added bonus of caring, professional staff who are always willing to go the extra mile. Mum moved in just before Covid hit and not being able to see her was very hard. Knowing that we had full confidence in the care she was receiving was extremely comforting. We are now able to visit (socially distanced in the garden) and it's a joy to see how much more settled she is and to witness how well she gets on with those caring for her.
Thank you so much for your fantastic review of Tegfield House. It is a pleasure for us to look after your mum and to welcome her into our terrific Tegfield family. She did arrive at a very challenging time for us all but we are so pleased you are happy with the way we are caring for her. We shall pass on your lovely words to all the Tegfield team.
Mum has been resident for almost a year now and we have peace of mind that she is living her golden years in the best place. Staff are always welcoming when we visit and will make time to have a chat. I love viewing pictures of everyone having such a good time. Staff go above and beyond in my opinion and are always happy to do so. Mum enjoys her new home and we feel like the staff and other residents are an extended family.
We are so glad you and your Mum feel part of the Tegfield family, and indeed the Hartford Care family!
We shall ensure your Mum continues living her best life with us, and we will continue posting pictures to show what a happy home it truly is.
My mother has been in Tegfield House for over two years, and I feel so lucky that she was able to get in. She has a beautiful room where she can see the garden from both windows, and the team who have been looking after her throughout this time has been pretty consistent. The love and care she is shown, by a team of highly professional carers who are rightly proud of what they do, is humbling. It isn't easy - as we reach the end of our lives, more and more stops working often causing immense frustration which we can take out on those closest to us or those looking after us, but the team understands that. If something has changed in my mother's care, I can ask anyone and they will know why. They are also very good at looking after me when I visit, despite everything else going on. It is immensely comforting for me to know she is in such good hands. In my view, they thoroughly deserve the 'outstanding' rating they recently achieved.
Thank you so much for your superb review and incredibly kind words about Tegfield House. It is a pleasure for us to look after your mother and indeed you, as you are both very much part of our terrific Tegfield family.
They make a real effort as well with the social events that they organise for the residents and their families.
What a lovely review for Tegfield House. Thank you so much for your kind words about our terrific Tegfield team who are caring for your mother. We are continuing our activities even during these difficult times so that your mother can continue enjoying her best life with us.
We have been very pleased with Tegfield House and the care that my Mum is receiving there. It is a very homely place and always makes me feel welcome. The Manager is excellent, hugely understanding and wise. We have been very pleased with the caring approach of the staff. Even now, when I am unable to visit, I have confidence that my Mum is being well looked after.
Thank you for your wonderful review of Tegfield House. It is a pleasure for us to look after your Mum especially during these difficult times. We shall look forward to welcoming you once visiting is allowed again. Your kind comments will be much appreciated by all the terrific Tegfield family.
My mother has now been resident for last 18 months and is happier and more content then she was living on her own. All the staff at the home are caring and courteous and I am very happy with the care she is receiving.
Thank you so much for your kind words about Tegfield House. It is a pleasure to look after your mother and we are delighted that you are happy with the way in which our terrific Tegfield team is caring for her. They will be thrilled with your lovely comments.
My mother-in-law has settled in very well at Tegfield House. The carers are very kind and always available. The food is excellent with a lovely atmosphere in the dining room. The garden is a lovely space for walking and relaxing. The residents are treated with respect and encouraged to be involved in what is their home. We are very thankful to have found such a well run care home.
Thank you so much for your review, Susan. We are always striving to ensure that all our residents feel that they are part of the Hartford family by getting involved in the numerous activities and enjoying all the facilities, including Tegfield House's wonderful garden.
My elderly friend (95) decided that, although sound of mind she was too physically wobbly to live on her own. Her family and friends were surprised at her decision to move to a home, but Tegfield House has proved us wrong. The old lady is in a clean, comfortable room surrounded by her favourite belongings, and is able to do all the things with her family and friends with the comfort, safety and company to return to. The staff make a real effort to ensure the physical and metal care of everybody.
Dad's home is always clean, well staffed by friendly, experienced care workers and the atmosphere is calm, positive and welcoming. I can pop in anytime and staff give me updates on what Dad has been doing and who he has interacted with. The gardens and communal rooms are clean, tidy and well supplied with soft drinks, comfortable chairs etc. I feel very grateful that Dad is being so well cared for by happy, considerate staff. They look after me too. I like the way every resident is treated as a valued and unique individual in the home community. The manager is particularly compassionate, informative and a really good leader.
My mother has been extremely happy here. She loves the colourful garden and the interesting variety of activities, (such as singalongs/fireworks/cream teas and Christmas parties). It is lovely to see my mother laughing and enjoying the meals. The staff and management are extremely considerate, caring, helpful and do everything to help my mother enjoy her time at Tegfield.
The level of care is exceptional, personalised and individual, understanding the needs of and the underlying character of each resident - as well as how they interact, to create as harmonious a place as possible. The staff create a genuinely warm and caring atmosphere, and both the house and gardens are beautiful - well maintained, with the feel of a real home. The food is amazing, and they put a priority on ensuring that relatives are involved as far as they want - with events and parties etc. We are always made to feel incredibly welcome when visiting. Our father moved into Tegfield House on the death of our mother - our father's carer - last year. The staff have helped our father - and us - to adjust to these new circumstances. I always leave the home after a visit, confident that my father is in the best place for him, in an exceptionally warm and caring environment, and that he is happy and settled.
My father died a year later and the standard of care and compassion displayed by all the members of staff was truly wonderful.
I couldn't have asked for better.
My mother is still at Tegfield, in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's, still receiving excellent care.
I've no hesitation in recommending Tegfield.

Meet the Team (2)

I am honoured to introduce myself as the manager of Tegfield House. With over 30 years of experience in elderly care, I have always been passionate about ensuring people living in care homes are supported to live their best lives. This passion led me to join Hartford Care just over a year ago as the deputy manager, and I am thrilled to step into this new role.
Tegfield House is such a special place. Our home is more than just a care home; it is a family where we celebrate each individual's uniqueness, whether they are residents or staff. At Tegfield House, joy, laughter and treating everyone with the respect and level of care we would want for ourselves is something I deeply value and intend to uphold.
As we move forward together, I aim to ensure that we continue to provide outstanding care and maintain the warm, family-like environment that makes Tegfield House so wonderful. I look forward to working closely with all of you to create a place where everyone feels valued, happy, and well cared for.

I have been working in the care sector for 10 years, 7 of which were spent at Hartford Care. I began my journey at Tegfield House as a Care Assistant, gradually progressing to Senior Care Assistant, and currently, I hold the position of Head of Care.
I enjoy working at Tegfield House because it has a warm, homely atmosphere, and we continue to grow and develop as a team. I hold NVQ Level 2 and 3 qualifications and am currently working towards completing my NVQ Level 5.
I am excited to watch Tegfield House expand and continue offering exceptional care to those in need.
