Overall Experience
Since we first started looking around at residential homes for our mother, Tegfield stood out as a particularly homely place. We liked the fact that Tegfield was relatively small and had a great friendly feel from the first moment you arrive. Key for us was that it felt like to sort of place mum could make her home and we particularly loved the garden. That was a big part of our decision. The staff are fantastic and extremely caring - nothing is too much trouble.

Noticeably, low staff turnover has got to be a good sign.

Mum was in Tegfield House for only a week but in that time, she was very well cared for, with cheerful and kind staff and a very excellent manager. She thought her room was pretty and her bed very comfortable.

She became very poorly but we know that everyone loved her and they made every effort for her well-being.

I am a great friend of 2 of your residents.
They are very well looked after, clean and well fed.
They have been made to feel at home.
The husband has recently died but the remaining wife has had a great deal of support.
There are always activities to get involved with.

An excellent home.

I have been impressed by the lovely care my mother has received so far at Tegfield House; she is much happier as a result. It is a safe place for her to live and mum enjoys being with her new friends. There is a beautiful garden to enjoy as well.

I came to the BBQ to visit my aunt for the first time. She has been here one month. She seems happy. I was impressed by the friendly ambience, beautiful surroundings and cleanliness.

There were 7 of us, family members, we all had such a lovely afternoon.

My mother recently passed away while a resident. The care she (and we) received during her last few weeks was outstanding. I cannot thank the staff enough for all they did.

As soon as I came to visit my mother, the door is opened and I'm welcomed with a smile. The carer will always know where my mother is.

I feel there's a great warmth about the staff and they really care about the residents. I love it when they report back on how much my other has engaged in the activities which are led by a lovely, dedicated carer and are relevant and varied. My mother is in a very safe place and well looked after.

My family are extremely impressed with the care provided for our mother. She is most contented than she has been since her Alzheimer's disease was diagnosed. We are particularly pleased with the level of engagement all staff have with her and the amount of activities that she is encouraged to take part in. The home is clean, bright and cheerful, the gardens lovely and food very good. It is a great relief to know she is so well looked after.

The staff are amazing, from cleaners right up through to management. My mum has been very poorly these past weeks and the care and kindness and dedication she has received is second to none, and when I couldn't be there due to work, they were always happy to take phone calls whatever the time day or night and to listen to my worries and put my mind at rest. I would love to give them all a big hum. My mum has the care she needs without going into hospital. Thank you all.

My wife started as a half day weekly resident and was fully mobile. She had a fall in our house and broke the head of her femur. She was in the hospital for about 8 weeks and when she came out she became a full-time resident.

Every time I walk through the front door there is a feeling of calmness and order and most importantly there is no odour. The person I visit on a weekly basis is happy and content there and it shows in her demeanour. The staff are cheerful, polite and whatever one asks for it is no trouble at all.

Sarah RobertsonJob Title:Home ManagerJoined: 2023

I am honoured to introduce myself as the manager of Tegfield House. With over 30 years of experience in elderly care, I have always been passionate about ensuring people living in care homes are supported to live their best lives. This passion led me to join Hartford Care just over a year ago as the deputy manager, and I am thrilled to step into this new role.

Tegfield House is such a special place. Our home is more than just a care home; it is a family where we celebrate each individual's uniqueness, whether they are residents or staff. At Tegfield House, joy, laughter and treating everyone with the respect and level of care we would want for ourselves is something I deeply value and intend to uphold.

As we move forward together, I aim to ensure that we continue to provide outstanding care and maintain the warm, family-like environment that makes Tegfield House so wonderful. I look forward to working closely with all of you to create a place where everyone feels valued, happy, and well cared for.
