With over 21 years of experience in the care sector, I have built a career dedicated to delivering exceptional standards of care and support. Currently, I serve as the Registered Manager for the Short-Term Care Unit at Hawkinge House, a role I have held for 3.5 years. In this position, I lead a team committed to providing high-quality, person-centred care that meets the diverse needs of our residents.
Starting my career as a carer, I have progressed through various roles, gaining hands-on experience and a deep understanding of the sector. My passion for care stems from its rewarding nature and the unique challenges and opportunities it presents every day. I am committed to fostering a culture of compassion, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
It’s been nearly 8 years since I started working here at Hawkinge House. I began my journey as a Registered Nurse, and today, standing as one of the Deputy Managers of the home, I feel both proud and grateful. Being able to care for people every single day has shaped me not just professionally, but personally as well.
Working in care has taught me the true meaning of compassion, patience, and responsibility. Every resident carries a story, and being trusted to support them through some of their most vulnerable moments is a privilege I never take for granted. The challenges have been many, but the rewards, seeing a smile, providing comfort, and making someone feel heard, have always outweighed them.
This field has helped me grow into a stronger person, and I am honoured to be part of a team that makes a real difference in people’s lives. I look forward to continuing this journey and contributing to the quality of care our residents deserve.
