From the moment we walked into Hawkinge House we felt welcomed. All staff were very caring and helpful. My dad was very well looked after. Staff were very good at letting you know how things were going. Phone calls to let you know how things were going. Phone calls to let you know of any changes. When my dad died, the phone calls were full of sympathy and what to do next. We could not fault the home.
Food sometimes was not hot, only warm, but was rectified quickly.
Rooms were well furnished ensuite and with a fridge in the room.
The management were very helpful with my needs. The cleaning of rooms was only satisfactory on 2nd floor.
Thank you so much for leaving us a review, we always take feedback and learn from all comments.
Hawkinge House has been a lovely place for Mum to stay. The staff have been amazing and have gone above and beyond for our mum. The Hawkinge House team are very supportive, friendly and kind. I would highly recommend this care home for a loved one.
Thank you so much for the positive feedback. We always appreciate family members' feedback, as this ensures we are doing a good job.
Thank you!
My aunt is currently being cared for in The Proactive Assessment unit and I cannot fault the care she is receiving. I have found the staff, whether they are office staff or part of the care team, to be courteous, professional and friendly. I have always been greeted on arrival and made to feel welcome. The unit is clean and bright. My aunt has been offered the opportunity to engage in many varied activities. Any queries I have had have been dealt with promptly and efficiently.
We are so pleased that both your aunt and you have had a positive experience and stay with us.
This went missing, the home later denied it was ever put in the safe.
The Police are involved and have reprimanded them for not having proper procedures. Care was okay, but it really matters that you can trust the staff and managers throughout. Now I have to get lawyers involved.
We were visited by the police however no concerns were found with our staff or our procedures in this instance, however, we are always looking at ways to improve our service and we take your comments on board.
Came to Hawkinge House 2nd Floor Unit after being in-patient at hospital, to await a care package being put in place so I could return home. I cannot fault the way I was cared for. Especially as I have no longer any use of my legs and completely rely on the staff here. The staff have been amazing every single one of them, from management to cleaners and everyone in between. The room I had would put many hotels to shame and there are many activities to keep us occupied varying from church services to bingo, wheelchair exercises to singers. The food although not cordon bleu is excellent (I am a retired hospital chef). Well run everyone at Hawkinge House 2nd Floor Unit. Thank you all.
Kind regards
Shelly
My husband has been in Hawkinge House since April last year. The staff are very friendly and professional most importantly listen to any of your concerns you have regarding your loved one. When my husband moved into Hawkinge House I was apprehensive but was put at ease straight away from the time I went to view Hawkinge House to the time my husband moved in and a year later still feel the same. I am always involved regarding my husband's care and needs and it is so nice to see him happy. I have looked around many nursing homes and Hawkinge House in my opinion is outstanding from the manager to the nursing and care staff.
Thank you so much for your positive feedback, I will ensure this is shared with the care staff and the rest of the team.
Mum has been resident in this care home for two years now ( through the pandemic) Apart from the caring frontline staff and their senior staff for a diverse staff team that Mum loves - share has been well cared for and treated as an individual. I think the most influential positive factor for me is that the care home followed the guidelines correctly during the pandemic; essential caregiver status was upheld and monitoring and safety was followed. Making sure that individuals for to see their loved ones (which accounts for more than words can say) and upholds the dignity and values of those with support needs. Hats off to Hawkinge House for respecting this need where the majority of care homes failed miserably and where people suffer. Want to add the new manager has my confidence in reviewing and making positive changes so far!
Thank you for your positive review, we are pleased that we was able to follow guidelines and still ensure there was a relationship with loved ones. We are always striving to improve with changes we are making and strive to deliver a quality standard of care. Thank you for choosing Hawkinge House for your loved one to reside.
Mum was admitted to Hawkinge House, and from day one, we were struck by the caring and loving atmosphere, beautiful surroundings, residents and staff - happy! We cannot express enough the five-star surroundings, suites, food, etc. The care of the staff and manager was excellent, and it was clear the manager cares deeply for her staff and residents. Alwats going above and beyond. Every member of staff was happy, friendly and gentle and could not do enough to make a real difference. If you are considering care at Hawkinge House - don't hesitate!
Thank you so much for the beautiful words and for leaving us an amazing review.
Very pleased that my uncle spent time here. Well looked after, the staff are kind and caring. Also, the relatives who visited were treated with kindness and respect. Always kept up to date with his care. 5-star care.
Kind regards.
My mum spent her final months at Hawkinge Care Home, following discharge from hospital. I cannot praise the staff at Hawkinge House highly enough, for the outstanding level of care, kindness and attention they have provided to both my mum and myself, during this time. The Staff at Hawkinge House are professional, empathic, sincere and caring. Nothing is too much trouble. They all gave my mum their undivided attention and fully supported me through what has been an emotionally distressing and challenging time. The level of commitment from the staff, is outstanding. There is always someone on call to assist with anything. The standards are high. The meals varied and exceptional. There are snacks and drinks available all day. The home is spacious, clean and homely, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Residents are encouraged to make their suite into their own home, which we did. I looked at many nursing homes in the area and Hawkinge House stands out from them all!
Thank you for your positive review. At Hawkinge House we endeavour to deliver quality care. Thank you for choosing us to care for your loved one.
I can not express my thanks to the staff at Hawkinge House 2nd Floor Unit enough, with all the care and support they gave to my sister. Thank you so much.
Thank you for your lovely feedback. It is always nice to have positive feedback and we appreciate it.
As always, I have no complaints about how my grandmother is cared for. She is very happy and settled. She always says nice things about the staff. Thank you all.
Kind regards.
Staff are very kind and caring.
Thank you for the lovely feedback; it is much appreciated.
Lovely visit with Dad each week. Garden walks, and Duncan, the guinea pig cuddles, plus ballon gamed with other residents. Dad is so much calmer these days and very content at Hawkinge House - he has mentioned to me that he loves it here! As a family, we feel very happy that Dad has settled so well - thank you.
Thank you so much for the lovely positive feedback.
Lack of basic continuing care, falls way below the standard described and paid for. Many residents continually ignored. Respect and dignity lacking.
Thank you for your review, I would very much like to discuss this with you so that we are able to investigate your concerns. We value everyone's opinions and we understand that having your loved one in a care home can be very stressful, particularly in the early days. I would be grateful if you...
Room is big but flooring is bad, needs new carpet. Needs more staff to look after the residents. Staff seem to be okay with residents but need to be more vigilant and aware of what the residents do. They are always friendly. Receptionist is friendly and informative. They do email well to keep family informed. New residents must be aware of personal possession (rings, watches) can go missing. Maybe do not take them in.
Many thanks for your feedback and for the positive comments on the staff. We have already ordered new flooring but it has been badly delayed due to current supply issues.
Thank you for taking my wife into your care. From day one I had to admit the security, cleanliness and attention my wife was given. For the first 14 days, I was allowed to talk to her every night. Since then I have visited every other day so the rest of the family and others. Though Hawkinge House is 15 miles away I could not wish for a better place for my wife, she has never complained, she is getting lots of TLC and all her family thank you very much for your dedication to your work.
I like my room at PAU (Proactive Assessment Unit) Hawkinge House because it is big and I can move around in my electric chair. I have made friends. I like the gardens. The food is ok. I am looked after. I have my meals when I want. I am listened too. I have support from other people. This is a nice place. I am going shopping with staff and buy what I want, it is better now I have my scooter to get me about a lot more. My room has a fridge so I can put my drinks and snacks in there. I am here to be supported to get me home safely.

Our 24-hour nursing team, led by qualified nurses, ensures expert clinical care is always available while maintaining the warm, homely atmosphere that makes Hawkinge House special.

I started my journey in adult care in 2004 when I joined the industry as a care worker in the community, previous to this I had managed a dental practice but felt that a career in Social Care would be more rewarding. Since that time, I have worked my way through the industry to become an Operations Director, and then, finally, in June 2020, I joined Hawkinge House PAU as the Registered Manager of the brand-new service. Hawkinge House PAU is an assessment unit for patients that are leaving an acute hospital setting and require a period of assessment to establish their longer-term care needs. I am passionate about giving the best possible care to every patient that comes through our doors, regardless of their situation. It is always my aim to ensure that every patient who comes through the PAU feels heard and safe. I am supported by an amazing team that has a wealth of experience in the industry and shares the same goals and aspirations for the care that we deliver that I do.

With over 21 years of experience in the care sector, I have built a career dedicated to delivering exceptional standards of care and support. Currently, I serve as the Registered Manager for the Short-Term Care Unit at Hawkinge House, a role I have held for 3.5 years. In this position, I lead a team committed to providing high-quality, person-centred care that meets the diverse needs of our residents.
Starting my career as a carer, I have progressed through various roles, gaining hands-on experience and a deep understanding of the sector. My passion for care stems from its rewarding nature and the unique challenges and opportunities it presents every day. I am committed to fostering a culture of compassion, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

It’s been nearly 8 years since I started working here at Hawkinge House. I began my journey as a Registered Nurse, and today, standing as one of the Deputy Managers of the home, I feel both proud and grateful. Being able to care for people every single day has shaped me not just professionally, but personally as well.
Working in care has taught me the true meaning of compassion, patience, and responsibility. Every resident carries a story, and being trusted to support them through some of their most vulnerable moments is a privilege I never take for granted. The challenges have been many, but the rewards- seeing a smile, providing comfort, and making someone feel heard- have always outweighed them.
This field has helped me grow into a stronger person, and I am honoured to be part of a team that makes a real difference in people’s lives. I look forward to continuing this journey and contributing to the quality of care our residents deserve.

Josin has been with Hawkinge House since 2014. He is a qualified nurse and is the deputy manager for the short-term 2nd floor at Hawkinge House. He qualified as a nurse in 2015 and has a wealth of knowledge within the care sector.
