Hawkinge House & PAU

We have been very pleased with Mum's stay at Hawkinge House. She had a lovely big room, the carers were very kind, and the PAU team were really helpful. The physio team were also very helpful and supportive.

The only negative I have for this care home would be the administrative team that booked the ambulance for my sister, they made many errors, which caused lots of unnecessary stress for my sister and for our family.

We were made very welcome here. It wasnt anything like I thought. The place was clean and welcoming and Wendy was so lovely and put us at ease straight away. The staff were very helpful when I called in the evenings to check on Mum. I was happy to leave Mum in their care as I got a very good feeling from Hawkinge House.The rooms were welcoming and very clean and homely. Thank you to the staff for all their hard work and care. You all made the experience so much easier for me and less stressful.

My father appears happy, says the staff are lovely. His appearance when visiting is always neat, always makes an extra effort when my father is going out. Food is enough for his appetite. The home is always clean and tidy. The staff are always friendly and helpful.

I have always found the staff on the 2nd floor south of Hawkinge House to be helpful and caring. They look after mam very well, and she is happy there. Whenever I take her out, they help get her ready and transparent. There is a nice atmosphere, and the environment is very welcoming. They understand mum's needs, habbits and listens and respects her wishes.

It's been a really tough year for us as a family but knowing that mum is safe and well cared for has made all the difference.

Mum's stay here has been very nice, although her experience has been limited as far as activities because she is bedbound. I would like to say the care and attention from the staff has been second to none, always friendly and very attentive to my mum's specific level of care needs. Thank you very much.

The staff are wonderful, helpful and always there to help. The place is clean. Drop of hat staff help. Lovely place. My son would like to stay forever.

Amazing staff.

My father was in the long term care for just under two years suffering from dementia. Dad was a very difficult person and sadly his dementia made him verbally and physically challenging. The management team and all the staff were so supportive our family throughout the whole journey. As one of the family visited Dad every day we got to know the staff and they were always friendly and so compassionate even when Dad was so challenging. He had a great bright room the cleaning team worked tirelessly to keep the standards up. Dad always enjoyed his meals and as he declined the staff and I tried so many different options to get nutrients into dad. The entertainment team tried with dad but he was happy to be in his room with the TV but the team would still pop into see him On a personal note as Dad declined and we spent more time with him the compassion we were shown by all the staff was so touching.as Dad declined we were shown compassion and support the whole time. The premises are maintained very well and the gardens give a lovely view.

The office staff were very helpful when asking them questions as to where we go next with our elderly mums needs.

Our Dad goes in almost every day to spend time with mum and the staff have become extended family. Thank you all for your kindness it is so appreciated.

Dad has been in long term care on the ground floor for almost nine months. He has a slow form of motor neurone disease and is 85 years old. Since moving into Hawkinge House, the staff have been extremely attentive and caring towards his needs. From the management & admin team, to the nurses, frontline carers, entertainers, cleaners, chefs and maintenance crew, their experience, professionalism and friendliness towards residents, families and friends is second to none. With Dad's condition continuously worsening, the staff have been proactive in liaising with medical professionals and keeping us informed at every step. I am very pleased that Dad was welcomed into Hawkinge House and the transition was seamless. Although Dad cannot communicate like most residents there is always an underlying sense of friendship & community. We appreciate the hard work that goes into maintaining these standards from day to day and would like to thank the entire team for their ongoing efforts.

I have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The standards of hygiene are very high, and I am always kept in touch with how my Uncle is doing. He is not the easiest of residents, but the staff always treat him with respect and dignity. I would highly recommend this home to others and cannot speak highly enough of the staff.
