My mum was admitted to the PAU Unit at Hawkhurst House in March 2025 after suffering a broken hip. The staff are wonderful, kind, compassionate and caring, managed by the manager Gail. Her office door is always open, and nothing is too much trouble.
Mum has now been transferred to the ground as a permanent
resident - I cannot speak highly enough of Gail and her team.
Reply from Gail Watkins, Registered Manager at Hawkhurst House PAUThank you for taking time to complete a review. It was our pleasure to care for mum on PAU and meet all the family. Although mum has moved downstairs to long stay she comes up to see us most days and she is always very welcome.
Thanks again

I can honestly say that Hawkhurst House has made such a positive difference to my 91 year old mother's life. She is incredibly happy there, having made new friends, joining in the many varied activities, and really enjoying both the food and the care she receives. She seems not only happier but also
much more confident.
The staff are friendly and consistently show genuine care and attention in everything they do. It's clear they truly care about the residents.
The rooms are spacious and well equipped, with a TV, a comfortable sitting area, a kitchenette with a fridge (which is very useful), and an en-suite shower room. Mum's room also has patio doors that open onto the garden, which is absolutely lovely.
The management have an open-door policy and are always approachable, which gives great reassurance to families.
I'm so pleased we chose this care home for Mum-it has truly been the making of her..
Reply from Chris Walton-Turner, Manager at Hawkhurst HouseThank you so much for such lovely feedback. We are so pleased your mum has settled in and become a valued and active member of the Hawkhurst House family. We hope the weather begins to improve so she can actually open that patio door, use the garden and keep an eye on our guinea pigs, budgies and finches.

Hawkinge House

from Rowena G (Sister of Resident) published on 30 March 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My sister has been a resident since December 2025 to present day.
I want to write and compliment the chef and catering department on the variety and good food. She loves fresh fruit salad and has a bowl daily.
She needs good nutrition to aid her condition and to see her excited to have her meals
and eat them with relish, just shows how good the food has been.
Thank you.
The only negative I have for this care home would be the administrative team that booked the ambulance for my sister, they made many errors, which caused lots of unnecessary stress for my sister and for our family.
Reply from Tara Peacock, Registered Manager LTC at Hawkinge HouseThank you for your lovely review regarding the catering department, I will ensure they receive this positive feedback.

Woodchurch House

from Suzanne C (Wife of Resident) published on 23 March 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 5.0 out of 5
My husband has been a resident in the Dementia unit for a year and receives excellent care. Every member of the nursing and care team is kind, treats him with dignity, and support to both of us. His special dietary needs are accommodated, and he enjoys the freshly prepared tasty and nutritious meals.
Throughout the day, residents receive snacks and drinks, and everyone's Birthday is celebrated with balloons, banners, singing and a special cake. The recent renovation and redecoration of the Dementia Unit, including updated furnishings, have refreshed the communal areas and corridors. These spaces are now bright, airy, and easier to maintain. From the moment you enter Woodchurch House everyone is welcoming and friendly. Regardless of their role, all the staff are professionals, dedicated to caring for every member of their community. This is evident by the warm and supportive atmosphere throughout the home. I would not want my husband to be anywhere else. Highly recommended
Reply from Jenni Laffoley, Head of Marketing at Woodchurch HouseThank you so much for your wonderful and detailed review. We're delighted to hear that your husband feels well cared for and that our team's dedication, kindness, and attention to detail have made such a positive impact on both of you.
