I cannot thank everyone at Hawkinge House Care Home enough for the outstanding care they provide to my grandad, Gordon. Knowing he is being looked after by such a caring, compassionate, and professional team gives our family great comfort and peace of mind.
Every day, I leave the care home feeling
reassured and confident that my grandad is safe, happy, and receiving the very best care. The staff go above and beyond to ensure his wellbeing, dignity, and comfort are always their top priority.
I would also like to give a special thank you to Charlotte and Diane in the office. They always make time for us as a family, no matter how busy they are, and consistently do their very best to reassure us regarding my grandad's welfare and safety during what has been a very difficult time. Their kindness, understanding, and support mean so much to us.
Hawkinge House is a wonderful care home with a dedicated team who genuinely care about their residents and families. I would 100% recommend

This was a lovely home to stay in while I recovered from my surgery and fall. The ward sisters were exceptional, and all the lovely young staff couldn't do enough for you.
The night manager and staff were also superb. The food was very good and always on time.
Laura's activities were a highlight
each day - thank you everyone.

Hazeldene House

from S B (Daughter of Resident) published on 15 June 2026
Submitted via Website • Report
Overall Experience 4.0 out of 5
Carers were exceptional: kind and patient.
Mum's room was ensuite and quite large, with a choice of chairs.

The food was extremely good. The only negative was that Mum was given cheese (twice that I saw), even though I had advised staff that this may cause a migraine.

Mum went home by ambulance,

without her Zimmer frame, her prescribed nutritional supplements, and a new pair of trousers I had bought her. To their credit, Hazeldene returned the frame and supplements promptly, the next day. (We had been asked to take Mum's frame in, as it would fit her height better. However, she was never using her own frame when we visited.)

Although Hazeldene had been informed of when Mum would be collected to return home, the carers were not aware, so she was not ready. They had to pack her things quickly, which may explain the missing frame, supplements and trousers (which never turned up).

Despite a few negatives, overall I rate the care at Hazeldene very highly. The staff were amazing!

Reply from Jenni Laffoley, Head of Marketing at Hazeldene HouseThank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback about your mother's stay at Hazeldene. We are delighted to hear that you found our carers to be kind, patient and exceptional, and that your mother was comfortable and enjoyed the food provided. Your kind words about our team are greatly appreciated and will be shared with them.

We are also grateful for your constructive feedback regarding your mother's dietary requirements and the arrangements surrounding her discharge. We are sorry for the distress and inconvenience caused by the missing belongings and the lack of communication on the day of her return home. Feedback such as yours helps us to review our processes and ensure we continue to improve the experience of residents and their families.

Thank you once again for your thoughtful comments and for your recognition of our team's dedication. We are pleased that, overall, you rated the care provided so highly, and we wish your mother all the very best.

Staff are first class on the PAU floor, genuinely care for mum and her well-being, always friendly, cheerful and helpful. Mum has been on PAU for months, and they have all loved her and she them.
Activities co-ordinator, Laura, goes above and beyond her job title and absolutely makes for a happy and
positive environment. She not only always makes sure the residents are entertained, but she also always makes sure they are well cared for. An absolute star, we truly miss her.
Reply from Gail Watkins, Registered Manager at Hawkhurst House PAUThank you for such a lovely review the team especially Laura will be so pleased. It was and is our pleasure to care for mum as she still visits through the week even though she has moved downstairs.

Our family is incredibly grateful for the care my mother received during her 3 week stay before her passing. From the start, the management team was wonderful to deal with, handling all admin efficiently with minimal fuss. The care itself was of high quality, and the staff were always open and honest
whenever we had questions. My mother's room was lovely, bright, airy and well-equipped with plenty of seating and storage for her personal belongings. During her final days, the home would seamlessly work with the doctor(s) to ensure her comfort was managed well. Knowing she spent her last days in such capable and caring hands brought the family peace of mind. I highly recommend this care home.

The facilities are very good, it is a well desinged building. However, what matters is the quality of care and staff. I believe the staff are quite wonderful, demonstrating genuine dedication to their job, showing great care for my brother, respecting his dignity and treating him as an individual. It
has been a great relief to have him in such a place for his respite care period. I would recommend it to anyone who can afford such care. In particular, carer Milan has been exceptional.
Reply from Shelly Watson, Registered Manager at Hawkinge House 2nd Floor UnitThank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback.
We are delighted to hear that you were happy with the facilities, and more importantly, with the care and support your brother received during his respite stay. Providing high-quality, person-centred care while maintaining dignity and individuality is something we are deeply committed to, so it is incredibly reassuring to know this was your experience.
Your kind words about our team are greatly appreciated. I will be sure to pass on your special mention of Milan, who will be very pleased to know the positive impact he has made.
We understand how important it is to have peace of mind when a loved one is in our care, and we are so glad we were able to provide that reassurance during your brothers stay.
Thank you again for your recommendationit truly means a lot to us.
Kind regards,
Shelly

I met some amazing residents, and I loved the way one of the staff would sit with anyone on their own and that.
