Dad arrived at Hawkinge after six weeks in hospital ,following a fall . During this time ,his mental capacity had seriously deteriorated, he'd lost the use of his legs, his core strength was weak,he struggled to use his arms,and had lost a lot of weight. Within two weeks of being at Hawkinge Dad was managing to feed himself. He gradually gained weight and his core strength became stronger. Although he can no longer walk,the improvement he has made, means,he no longer has to be hoisted or use a tilt and slide chair. This is all down to the care ,kindness and nurturing environment that Hawkinge provides.Dad was always happy ,when I visited,and clearly felt safe. I was always kept up to date with Dads needs and progress,and I had real peace of mind. Thank you Hawkinge House,you've given my Dad back to me.

Words cannot express how outstanding Cornford House is. We will always be grateful she spent the last part of her life in such loving hands and wish we had found them sooner - we need more homes like this.

Our Mother was admitted to Cornford House in March of 2026, with a terminal condition. We visited most days, and we were very impressed and happy with all that we saw and experienced. The staff were all unfailingly kind and caring and professional. They had time to talk, and if any help or procedure was needed they were there immediately. Mum's passing was not the easiest for various reasons, but they handled it all so well. The building itself is exceptionally well maintained and clean - and even the cleaning lady was cheerful and chatted as she went about her duties while we were there. When Mum left us, all the procedural issues were handled quickly and professionally, not knowing anything about these matters we were grateful for the expert guidance which we recieved. Our thanks to you all for taking care of Mum.

Mum settled in really well this was due to the care and kindness of staff and mangement. As a family it is comforting to know mum is being well cared for in a lovely safe surroundings. It feels more like a family home kind atmosphere. Theres always staff around if you need help or questions answered.

Sadly we had to find respite for my mother in law after a nasty fall. Woodchurch House were able to take her with immediate effect. With such urgency and short notice the manager of Woodchurch House was so helpful and accommodating. We switched things around with rooms, so my mother in law had a quieter room overlooking their garden. All the staff are absolutely delightful.

The down side is the lack of returning phone call. As i live so far away. And would be nice to have a up date on my mum progress at that time. As she had a bad full. But othere then that. Over all i am happy with the carehome

My father was at Wantsum Lodge for 4 years until he recently passed away July 2026. I can't speak highly enough of all the lovely, caring dedicated staff who made dads life such a happy & contented one. Nothing was too much trouble they went above & beyond their duties to support us as a family. The home is spotlessly clean and inviting with a wide range of activities & entertainment which we are always invited too. You are always made to feel welcome. The home is run with a great management team always there to support you & dedicated kind, friendly staff. I would recommend Wantsum Lodge to anyone looking for a home for their loved one.

I'm very pleased he's in a good place and wouldn't want him to be anywhere else.

Since the moment my mum come to home I have seen a difference in her, she is so happy and seems to of come out of her shell. Mum always looks so clean and fresh and is dressed well everyday. Her room is always spotless and clean and it's a real pleasure to visit. So I couldn't be happier with the care mum is receiving and it's a 10/10 from me

My uncle moved into Hawkinge House recently and the change has been amazing. He is eating better, feeling better and is receiving brilliant care. Me and my dad (his brother) feel very reassured knowing he is being taken such good care of. Charlotte the manager has been absolutely brilliant and so helpful. She is always available for a chat and keeps us up to date on how my uncle is doing. We couldn't ask for a better place for him.

The day we visited there was a farm visit happening which was thriving! Such a lovely thing to see. Some of the residents were out in the sunshine looking/holding some of the animals. Again the staff were great at making sure people were comfortable and happy.

Staff appear very attentive & are polite at all times

Absolutely appalling standard of care, not convinced the staff even know the NMC code let alone practice it. Literally the fault is with the poor care that resulted in a broken hip. Disgusting when my mum appeared to be on the mend. There were multiple issues which still probably occur every day to other patients. CQC this place and get it improved.

From day one we have found the service excellent, helpful staff, lovely surroundings and it all combined to make the transition seamless for all of the family and more importantly for the person at the centre of the move

Absolutely the most disgusting care in PAU Unit I have ever witnessed in my life. Negligence, abuse, most of staff very limited english speaking skills. Mums comode bowl covered in someone elses excrement was used to give her morning wash! No one knew how to put boot on correctly after her fracture to fibula. Always excrement left in poorly cleaned comode pot. Very old comode with no armrests and no brakes brought first time then dirty old comode 2nd time. Mum would ring bell for help onto comode and no one would come 25 minutes on one occasion.

On website says physio. Absolutely no physio given. OT after mum fell and broke her hip made her sit on edge of bed and try and stand. 16 hours in agony before ambulance came. Should have been medical emergency no staff should have got her back in bed. Made her do telephone consultation with 111 twice. She is 90 there is so much more. The food is diabolical, no vegetables hardly ever and very sweet sticky puddings. Absolutely the worst place.

We made friends and we will miss each and every one at Hawkhurst House. The best place we have ever been.

Our first experience of adult residential care was disappointing. Our relative had complex needs after a lupus-related ischaemic stroke and left-sided paralysis, yet she was left waiting after using her call bell and did not always receive timely help, empathy or reassurance.

There were recurring Wi-Fi failures, slow responses, missing laundry, and promised physiotherapy that quickly stopped. Due to staff shortages, relatives often stayed to provide practical and emotional support. We were then shocked by management's comments about our presence and overnight stays, despite several relatives living far from Folkestone.

Most concerning was the discharge planning. Medication, GP communication and dosette boxes were not arranged despite advance notice. This contributed to unclear instructions, an incorrect Warfarin dose on the first night at home and an emergency hospital visit. Overall, the care, communication, cultural awareness and discharge preparation fell far below expectations.

I have been here 4 weeks all staff very nice we have regular activites ,ie football and singing,the staff work hard to make sure we are comfortable, nothing is too much trouble, although a care home it more like family, also we are encouraged to let our friendship grow anybody who follows the facebook page will know me as the lady in the video.

I will miss my visits to see my Dad & the staff there.
