Mum arrived at Hawkhurst House back in June 2025 due to the deterioration of her dementia. Although it took her a while to settle we could not have asked for a better place or team to help look after her well-being. The home is so beautiful and so welcoming with everything done to make that hard transition
as easy as possible. The staff were second to none they were excellent from the greeting you received by the receptionist, to the management team, all carers, nurses, entertainment team to cleaners, literally every person you came across were amazing and obviously loved there work. Mum only had a short time with the home as she sadly passed away mid August but I honestly don't think I could have chosen a better place. Mum was seen smiling, laughing and joining in with all the brilliant activities which I had not seen in a long time and that's all thanks to the brilliant Hawkhurst House team. Thank you all and keep up the excellent work.
Reply from Chris Walton-Turner, Manager at Hawkhurst House

Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback. As you say, your Mum was only with us for a very short time, but she quickly became part of the family - involving herself with chores and activities and having a good old chat and laugh with residents, staff and visitors. She is very much missed by us all and we can only thank you for choosing Hawkhurst House and entrusting your Mum to our care.

My Mum was evicted from Hospice in the Weald for being too well. She had a perforated bowel and bowel cancer ,and was admitted for end of life care.to Cornford House. The excellent caring and hard working staff managed to turn two very upset people into two positive and happier people in two days...!!
The kindness and love we felt at times was almost overwhelming at times.
Special thanks to the nurses for being there when we needed you most ,and for being so professional and loving at the same time. Also huge thanks to two other members of staff for their care, love, support and kindness. It was a hard journey made bearable by you all and I will never forget you
Now I go to help my Uncle fight his prostate cancer.I hope I am strong enough..

A frail small elderly lady of 98 years old with minimal sight, registered blind. The care staff handed her, full to the brim, large heavy mug of hot tea. A health & safety hazard. Not managing the weight & minimal hand & eye co-ordination. Fear of scalding herself. I was informed she was not eating
much. She will eat if given encouragement & minimal prompts & told the cooks do not poison residents. I reiterated, the cooks are not poisoning her. they are well qualified & stringent systems are in place . I gave her a banana, assured her it was fresh ,assisted her with hand & eye co-ordination, she ate it all. Training required. The lounge had 5 residents in who were enjoying communicating with each other & relatives . A Carer came in & switched the TV on. She did not ask any of them for permission. One lady said, "she can switch that off, we don't need that. Another said, I cannot hear you now. Not respecting residents wishes she sat & WATCHED the TV.
Some one has to be their voice.

We are so very lucky to have found this home. Both our parents have been here. This November they will have been here 4 years and we have not for one moment worried about either of our parents. Sadly we lost mum recently and the end of life care for Mum was incredible. The staff and the management are
so caring and kind. We stayed two weeks here by mums bedside and the staff were so gentle with us whilst caring for Mum. The teams and of course the Management keep us up to date constantly and are very supportive. Dad is very happy and content here in his own little world and we cannot thank everyone enough.

I am so pleased we were able to offer them a place to be together and the time you were able to have with your Mum at the end. My Mother was placed in Cornford House Nursing Home for assessment, via Pathway 3, on discharge from hospital.
All the carers and staff involved with my Mother's care and needs are approachable, friendly, kind and attentive.
Every carer who I meet, are well informed of my Mother's needs, personality,
medications and food preferences.
I feel that the standard of care at Cornford House is excellent.
The surroundings are pleasant, my Mother has a garden view, and being split level, there is also a lovely 'cafe garden' in a courtyard with plants all around it on the floor above her room.
The activities co-ordinator has gone to great lengths to ensure my Mother feels happy to join in with things, as she was initially reluctant. The onsite hairdressers and daily events onsite are excellent. My mother particularly enjoys the pet therapy mornings, as do I. Relatives are welcomed to join in. I thoroughly recommend Cornford House and would trust all the staff who I have met.

My mum is currently receiving end of life care at Cornford House, the staff are wonderful, caring and kind, both to my mum and to the family. She can sometimes be challenging because of her confusion but she is getting the best of care. The regular online updates are a real comfort as we know how she

Sadly my dad was only a resident at Hazeldene for a month as his dementia was very advanced when he was admitted. I don't live nearby but visited him every day for the last week of his life. I had no previous experience of care homes and a pre conceived idea that they would not be very 'caring'. Well
- I couldn't have been more wrong. The care, love and compassion that is shown to every resident and visiting family members by each and every member of staff at Hazeldene is truly exemplary. We couldn't have wished for a better place for our dad to be cared for. The setting is beautiful and very peaceful and calming. The job that the carers have to do is, in my opinion, one of the hardest jobs you could imagine - we would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all the staff - you are all amazing people xxx
