Highfields a very happy place to be al, the staff do their very best to keep the residents as healthy and happy as possible considering why they are there. It doesn't matter how long they are there for i.e 6 weeks or in many cases many years,
Their mental state is also very well looked after with
many activities, games, colouring, a lot of music which they can sing along with. Patients are brought along even if they cannot participate.
Reply from Kim Haines, Regional Operations Manager at Highfield Nursing HomeThank you so much for your kind review.
We're really pleased to hear that you feel Highfield is a happy place to be. Our team always aims to provide the best possible care and support, and it's lovely to know that this has been reflected in your experience.
We're especially glad that the activities, music and inclusive approach have helped support residents' wellbeing, as this is something we feel is very important.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback, it truly means a lot to the whole team.

I have had such a great experience at The Elms in Bembridge. I came for respite care and I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The staff are amazing. They are friendly, welcoming, helpful, kind and just wonderful human beings! Nothing is too much trouble for them and I cannot sing their praises
highly enough.
The accomodation is comfortable, warm and has everything you need; a real home from home. The little touches, such as a welcome pack of toiletries, was so thoughtful. I came straight from hospital and I was provided with certain items that I had truly missed, such as a hand held mirror and a comb. It was magical and made me feel human again.
I joined in with some of the daily activities which were fun and helped to pass the time. The food was delicious and plentiful and there was always a cuppa on hand!
I am so glad that I was sent to The Elms. As I said before, it's a real home away from home.

The Elms Care Home

My Sister has broken her leg & required respite care for a period of time. From the moment she arrived the staff have all been so lovely & kind & made us laugh ! Nothing has been too much trouble, especially a male member of staff JJ who sourced a wheelchair & blew the tyre up for her, nothing seemed
to be too much trouble, but peace of mind for her sisters knowing she is in good hands with smiling kind staff every one of you, from the lovely activities lady to the gorgeous little black cat asleep at reception. My sister said the food is also excellent.
Reply from Gill McLean, Deputy Manager at The Elms Care HomeThank you so much for your lovely review. We're delighted to hear that your sister felt welcomed and well cared for during her respite stay. It's wonderful to know that our team helped bring some comfort, kindness, and even a few laughs during what must have been a difficult time for her.
We'll be sure to pass on your special thanks to JJ for his extra support, and we're glad the rest of the team-from our activities staff to our resident cat-helped create a positive experience. Hearing that the food was enjoyed too is the icing on the cake!
It means a great deal to us to know that you and your family felt peace of mind while your sister was with us. We wish her a smooth recovery, and please don't hesitate to reach out if we can support you again in the future.
Warm regards,
The Team

This relates to one specific experience amongst several.
Following hospital appointment for dental extractions, the family received no follow up on how things had progressed. I called in to find out, to be told the carer had accompanied the resident had been told specifically not to contact the family,
all of whom have POA.
Reply from Lindsay Mahoney, Hospitality & Wellbeing Manager at Springfield Nursing HomeThank you for taking the time to share feedback with us. We are sorry to hear that there are concerns around the care of your loved one.
Regarding the specific event in this review, the carer did in fact make a phone call to the family following the appointment to update on what had happened and to discuss onward care. We are unsure of why there is a belief that the carer had been advised not to contact the family and we would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this further in order to investigate and establish what has happened.
Thank you for raising your concerns and we are committed to ensuring positive communication and support to your family and your loved one.

Lack of staff causing standards to go down and poor management relations with staff and relatives.
Dangerous chair provided for resident.
This is one incident and happy to discuss further.

Advice from the care nurse ignored management. Desk very good at weekends. Helpful and efficient.

The whole place is perfect, just wondering if I can book my place? The staff are very attentive, making sure they have what they want and are supposed to have. Always clean, warm and tidy. welcoming, and pleasant. Always something to do for the residents, which I help with,

Overall I am pleased with the care I received. Everybody was very helpful, including tea at 4 in the morning when I couldn't sleep. I understand that caring for so many patients is difficult most of whom somewhat elderly. Possibly a little more fresh fruit for breakfast or an alternative to the heavier
puddings. I did find the soup was delicious with the sandwiches for tea. Thank you all for looking after me, and all the physio staff who helped me walk again. All in all a good experience and I wouldn't hesitate recommending you to anyone.

I have been in hospital a few times but never a nursing home only as a visitor to see my late brother and was not impressed, so when I broke my my hip and wrist and was told I was going to Springfield for rehab I didn't know what to expect! But this is home from home. I could not have been treated better
everything is perfect, care, food, treatment, the staff, cleanliness etc. The carers cannot do enough for you and go above and beyond their duties to help. As I said to one the other day if you gave me a sheet of blank paper to list my complaints I would return it back blank because there is nothing to complain about at all, thank you all everybody, keep up the good work. And I hope what I have written is proof of how sincere I am, I cannot thank you enough.
