Springfield Nursing Home is located in the charming seaside town of Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. The stunning Edwardian building has been carefully extended over the years, providing a comfortable and homely environment for its residents.

The home has been carefully created with three underlying values at its core – care, comfort and companionship. Quality of life is key at Springfield and they provide a full programme of activities to help residents engage in and maintain their hobbies and interests. Homemade meals can be enjoyed in the dining room.

I have been in hospital a few times but never a nursing home only as a visitor to see my late brother and was not impressed, so when I broke my my hip and wrist and was told I was going to Springfield for rehab I didn't know what to expect! But this is home from home. I could not have been treated better
everything is perfect, care, food, treatment, the staff, cleanliness etc. The carers cannot do enough for you and go above and beyond their duties to help. As I said to one the other day if you gave me a sheet of blank paper to list my complaints I would return it back blank because there is nothing to complain about at all, thank you all everybody, keep up the good work. And I hope what I have written is proof of how sincere I am, I cannot thank you enough.

This is a very good and caring establishment. I have been treated with the upmost care and respect from both nursing and support staff. Everyone is friendly and kind. The food has been excellent, especially the soup and desserts. I would highly recommend this place.

My mum has unfortunately passed, but in the short time (12 months) she was in your care she was treated with kindness and dignity. She enjoyed all activities until she became to frail to attend. All staff were fabulous and went over and above catering for her needs and always welcoming and helpful to
family and friends visiting.

Overall a good experience. Very professional. Great help from management. For my mum's dementia probably not the right place at that time. But she enjoyed all the food and friendliness of the staff. She has many demons which were still present at the care home. She also had to move rooms from upstairs
to downstairs which didn't help. She has gone home now from respite. Would highly recommend.

I have been looked after extremely well!! I have loved my stay here!! So much so that I didn't want to go! The care staff are excellent! They made me feel most welcome and at home here at Springfields. I will miss everyone here! I wish they could come home with me lol. The foods been very good too -
I loved the chicken & leek pie! I loved two staff members in particular they made me feel so important and another particular staff member made me laugh!
Thank you for everything. I didn't see much of the management here.

From the moment I was wheeled through the doors of Springfield, I was made to feel instantly at ease. Everybody was more than friednly and welcoming.
My room was clean and tidy and well, the equipment provided was of a high standard. Although cubist and floral fabrics don't complement each other...
All
Springfield people are simply wonderful, helpful, caring and go above and beyond to ensure clients are never without the required medication and comforts that are so essential to their stay and recovery.

My husband has been a resident at the nursing home since August 2023. He feels safe and well looked after. The staff understand his needs and they create a caring, friendly relationship with him. We are always welcomed when visiting and feel supported. My husband would very much like to stay as a resident
as long as possible.

During November I spent just over 2 weeks at Springfield, after breaking my left hip in a fall and spending 10 days in hospital.
My room at Springfield was comfortable and practical with good ensuite.
The care was always kind, and helpful, and nothing too much trouble.
The food was very enjoyable,
and very attractively served at a nice dining table.
I was benefitting from a rehab scheme bed (NHS) and was constantly aided by the physio team. From being in such pain, discomfort, and immobility on arrival, think I improved a little every day. I will always be most grateful.

My Mum has spent a month at Springfield following a broken hip operation. Mum has received the very best of care and when we leave her to go home at tea time I know that she will be well looked after. Five staff members in particular have shown nothing but care and consideration. Nothing has been any
trouble.
Mum has had physio with two ladies and I would just like to mention the two activity coordinators. They treat you like family. Although Mum didn't attend I thoroughly enjoyed helping to paint the gingerbread men. Thank you.

My father passed away two weeks ago leaving us with the horrible decision about how best to care for my Mum. I approached Springfield about permanent care and was met with warmth, sympathy, and reassurance that I was doing exactly the right thing. Mum was assessed and moved into a beautifully decorated,
light, and airy room within 5 days. She seems very comfortable and the staff are very respectful of her memory challenges whilst ensuring she is included in all the activities. I am relaxed knowing she is safe and, eats well and all her medication needs are taken care of.

On the whole, the home is excellent, I have been there off and on for many weeks. The staff mostly are excellent as well, just the odd individual who needs more training. The food is good, maybe needs a little more variety, especially at supper time. I'm going home soon but I know I will miss the friendly
atmosphere. But if I can't manage, I will definitely come back here.

I'm Tom, and I am the deputy manager at Springfield Nursing Home where I have recently joined at the end of 2024.


My healthcare career began when I was 18 as a care assistant in a nursing home and a specialist dementia home, and I progressed to a nurse some years later. My experience in emergency nursing and community nursing has been invaluable to my role in management, and I continuously strive to develop my own skills further.


I am proud to be part of such an exceptional team that always has the resident's interests at heart. The values set out by Hartford Care are reflected wonderfully in the day-to-day lives of the residents here at Springfield and I feel privileged to play a role in that journey every day.
