Springfield Nursing Home is located in the charming seaside town of Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. The stunning Edwardian building has been carefully extended over the years, providing a comfortable and homely environment for its residents.

The home has been carefully created with three underlying values at its core – care, comfort and companionship. Quality of life is key at Springfield and they provide a full programme of activities to help residents engage in and maintain their hobbies and interests. My 6-weeks at a care home were a new experience for me at 89, and I was pleasantly surprised at the organisation of the care and support I was given. The staff were kind and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. Spent my birthday at the home and enjoyed it. Strict lockdown rules were observed
while I was there, and despite being confined to my room never felt lonely. On the whole, the food was good but meals too large and often nearly cold.

My stay was very helpful. Everyone helped me to walk again. Going out for a BBQ in the grounds made a change from the four walls of the room. All the staff made my 5-weeks stay go so quickly, and with all the care and help, I can not walk again and go back home. I have always been into the nursing home
to visit, nit I have seen the other side. Thank you to all the hard-working staff.

During these difficult times, "Springfield" staff made every effort to protect their residents from Covid, but also to allow two relatives to visit safely. We were very grateful for this, as we had, had only phone contact previously.

I broke my hip and my arm in a freak fall onto my very hard kitchen floor and was lucky enough to have been sent to Springfields care home. From the minute I was wheeled into Springfields to the minute I walked out of Springfield's doors, I felt the care and service was second to none. All staff were
very professional, knowledgeable and caring with lots of consideration given to dignity. I had an ensuite room which was kept spotless by the daily cleaners. I had access to physiotherapists, occupational therapists, GP review, pharmacists, excellent and professional 24/7 nursing care. Health care assistants willing to go the extra mile. A friendly maintenance man servicing all repairs and renewals. Yummy home cooked food served with a smile. Every need I had was accommodated if possible. At the helm of an amazing manager. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone. Thank you all so much, my rehabilitation was so short, because of your fantastic care.

I felt very lonely because nobody came to see us. I enjoyed that party. Wasn't for the nurses who were caring. My best wished to the kind nurses.

During my husbands stay at Springfield, I visited him regularly (six afternoons a week), and always found him well cared for in all aspects. His room was clean and bright. The staff were cheerful and friendly, and management approachable and available.

My wife was in the last stages of cancer when she came into Springfield Nursing Home. She was treated to very good care by all the staff for nearly ten weeks until she passed away. A special mention to one gentleman who looked after my wife so well, thank you.

Springfield Nursing Home has just been amazing to my father over many months of respite care. The home is led by the most committed manager, and the staff are just wonderful. They work so hard in order that the vulnerable folk receive such excellent care. I realised, from the very first day that I could
rest easy during the covid restrictions that my father was being so well cared for physically, medically, hospital liaison, and the brilliant reablement team. Thank you so much! I would recommend it highly to everyone. My father put on almost a stone in weight too!

I spent time at Springfield as part of the NHS rehab programme, having had a knee replacement operation at St Mary's Hospital, Newport. I found my stay to be comfortable and the staff to be friendly and helpful. I was well looked after. The only downside to the stay, apart from the 2-week confinement
to my room due to the Covid pandemic, was the size and extent of the communal facilities in relation to the number of rooms. It was sufficient for people like me who only spent a short time there but for long term residents, I would suggest it is too restricting.

My healthcare career began when I was 18 as a care assistant in a nursing home and a specialist dementia home, and I progressed to a nurse some years later. My experience in emergency nursing and community nursing has been invaluable to my role in management, and I continuously strive to develop my own skills further.
