Springfield Nursing Home is located in the charming seaside town of Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. The stunning Edwardian building has been carefully extended over the years, providing a comfortable and homely environment for its residents.

The home has been carefully created with three underlying values at its core – care, comfort and companionship. Quality of life is key at Springfield and they provide a full programme of activities to help residents engage in and maintain their hobbies and interests. Homemade meals can be enjoyed in the dining room.

Springfield also benefits from a coffee machine for residents and visitors, and video calling is available to keep in touch with friends and family as well as an all inclusive laundry service.

Springfield provides cosy, safe and comfortable surroundings for those who call it 'home', comprising 58 well proportioned en-suite bedrooms which are all beautifully decorated and fully furnished. My wife spent many weeks in Springfield following her placement by the hospital. My personal experience was limited to two hour-long visits per week. At these visits, I found the staff helpful and experienced no problems. My wife did not raise any issues about her care, and although she would have preferred
to have been at home with me, her stay at Springfield seems to have been the next best experience for her. I would like to pass on my thanks to all those involved.

At Springfield for nearly four weeks, receiving rehab care following brain surgery.
Carers were all very friendly and helpful.
Room was adequate and kept very clean.
Food was excellent, and a varied menu was provided.
Good physio and occupational therapy support to help me get back home.

My 6-weeks at a care home were a new experience for me at 89, and I was pleasantly surprised at the organisation of the care and support I was given. The staff were kind and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. Spent my birthday at the home and enjoyed it. Strict lockdown rules were observed
while I was there, and despite being confined to my room never felt lonely. On the whole, the food was good but meals too large and often nearly cold.

My stay was very helpful. Everyone helped me to walk again. Going out for a BBQ in the grounds made a change from the four walls of the room. All the staff made my 5-weeks stay go so quickly, and with all the care and help, I can not walk again and go back home. I have always been into the nursing home
to visit, nit I have seen the other side. Thank you to all the hard-working staff.

I broke my hip and my arm in a freak fall onto my very hard kitchen floor and was lucky enough to have been sent to Springfields care home. From the minute I was wheeled into Springfields to the minute I walked out of Springfield's doors, I felt the care and service was second to none. All staff were
very professional, knowledgeable and caring with lots of consideration given to dignity. I had an ensuite room which was kept spotless by the daily cleaners. I had access to physiotherapists, occupational therapists, GP review, pharmacists, excellent and professional 24/7 nursing care. Health care assistants willing to go the extra mile. A friendly maintenance man servicing all repairs and renewals. Yummy home cooked food served with a smile. Every need I had was accommodated if possible. At the helm of an amazing manager. I would highly recommend this care home to anyone. Thank you all so much, my rehabilitation was so short, because of your fantastic care.

Carers have all been very good like a family. Night staff always been willing and ready to change pads when requested. I hope I do not have any occasion and need to return any time, however, I feel if I did, I would feel positive about the situation.

During my husbands stay at Springfield, I visited him regularly (six afternoons a week), and always found him well cared for in all aspects. His room was clean and bright. The staff were cheerful and friendly, and management approachable and available.

I'm Tom, and I am the deputy manager at Springfield Nursing Home where I have recently joined at the end of 2024.


My healthcare career began when I was 18 as a care assistant in a nursing home and a specialist dementia home, and I progressed to a nurse some years later. My experience in emergency nursing and community nursing has been invaluable to my role in management, and I continuously strive to develop my own skills further.


I am proud to be part of such an exceptional team that always has the resident's interests at heart. The values set out by Hartford Care are reflected wonderfully in the day-to-day lives of the residents here at Springfield and I feel privileged to play a role in that journey every day.
