Springfield Nursing Home

Thank you so much to all the staff at Springfield Nursing Home, who have treated me with so much care over this long journey. Two main carers that I have had from the beginning have been so kind, caring and understanding.

Carers have all been very good like a family. Night staff always been willing and ready to change pads when requested. I hope I do not have any occasion and need to return any time, however, I feel if I did, I would feel positive about the situation.

During my husbands stay at Springfield, I visited him regularly (six afternoons a week), and always found him well cared for in all aspects. His room was clean and bright. The staff were cheerful and friendly, and management approachable and available.

Good service.

My wife was in the last stages of cancer when she came into Springfield Nursing Home. She was treated to very good care by all the staff for nearly ten weeks until she passed away. A special mention to one gentleman who looked after my wife so well, thank you.

Springfield Nursing Home has just been amazing to my father over many months of respite care. The home is led by the most committed manager, and the staff are just wonderful. They work so hard in order that the vulnerable folk receive such excellent care. I realised, from the very first day that I could rest easy during the covid restrictions that my father was being so well cared for physically, medically, hospital liaison, and the brilliant reablement team. Thank you so much! I would recommend it highly to everyone. My father put on almost a stone in weight too!

The staff were very helpful, and the food was very good. The physiotherapists are very helpful.

I spent time at Springfield as part of the NHS rehab programme, having had a knee replacement operation at St Mary's Hospital, Newport. I found my stay to be comfortable and the staff to be friendly and helpful. I was well looked after. The only downside to the stay, apart from the 2-week confinement to my room due to the Covid pandemic, was the size and extent of the communal facilities in relation to the number of rooms. It was sufficient for people like me who only spent a short time there but for long term residents, I would suggest it is too restricting.

The care home staff were polite and attentive.

I have been here before several years ago following an operation and had already experienced the care given to patients. It was a national closure, local area, closed to relatives to visit (under pre covid restrictions). I was pleased then and am equally pleased with my brief rehab care to my recovery.

My stay at Springfield Nursing Home was very good. I have nothing to complain about, care and kindness was excellent all of the time by every member of staff at any time day or night. They all did anything asked of them, and always with a smile. I am very grateful to Springfield Nursing Home for a lovely stay and making me feel better.

I was very fortunate to come to Springfield after I left hospital. The care and kindness I have received have been exceptional and the staff have helped me to make a good recovery.

The staff are first-class - kind and caring. Thanks to all who worked on Ground back during my stay.

The only negative was the food, very poor and the evening meal inadequate for my needs, provisioned too early and personally I don't think soup, sandwiches, omelette, baked potatoes a good choice, I resorted to buying my own food.

When I came to Springfield I was mentally and physically exhausted and if I'm honest, dreaded coming into a nursing home. However, I was so wrong. The care, physiotherapy and nursing were second to none. The staff were compassionate, very professional and looked after me in some very bad times for me. They listened and talked to me and I leave here, sad to go, but ready to move on, but I will keep in touch, definitely.

The staff are wonderful. The food is excellent, as good as in the hotel.

Very good. Food good but could do with bigger portions. Very good staff, always smiling and good for a laugh. Always helpful.

Overall the carers are lovely but I feel the attention to detail is lacking, such as personal items, such as glasses, not cleaned. Mum was cold. There were not enough blankets on the bed. Her room gets clustered and untidy and as I cannot go in I cannot sort these things out for her. The cleaner goes in, but her room never gets a thorough clean. She would like more cups of tea during the day. The manager and the nurses are very good. COVID has made life difficult and they have done a good job.

Staff have been fantastic, all are happy and willing to help.
