Springfield Nursing Home is located in the charming seaside town of Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. The stunning Edwardian building has been carefully extended over the years, providing a comfortable and homely environment for its residents.

The home has been carefully created with three underlying values at its core – care, comfort and companionship. Quality of life is key at Springfield and they provide a full programme of activities to help residents engage in and maintain their hobbies and interests. Homemade meals can be enjoyed in the dining room.

I have been here before several years ago following an operation and had already experienced the care given to patients. It was a national closure, local area, closed to relatives to visit (under pre covid restrictions). I was pleased then and am equally pleased with my brief rehab care to my recovery.

Rehab from Covid-19. The staff were excellent although busy they did not neglect anything. Nurses top line, rehab team excellent. The room was comfortable, clean and warm.
The only negative was the food, very poor and the evening meal inadequate for my needs, provisioned too early and personally I
don't think soup, sandwiches, omelette, baked potatoes a good choice, I resorted to buying my own food.

When I came to Springfield I was mentally and physically exhausted and if I'm honest, dreaded coming into a nursing home. However, I was so wrong. The care, physiotherapy and nursing were second to none. The staff were compassionate, very professional and looked after me in some very bad times for me.
They listened and talked to me and I leave here, sad to go, but ready to move on, but I will keep in touch, definitely.

Overall the carers are lovely but I feel the attention to detail is lacking, such as personal items, such as glasses, not cleaned. Mum was cold. There were not enough blankets on the bed. Her room gets clustered and untidy and as I cannot go in I cannot sort these things out for her. The cleaner goes
in, but her room never gets a thorough clean. She would like more cups of tea during the day. The manager and the nurses are very good. COVID has made life difficult and they have done a good job.

I am so pleased Mum is a resident at Springfield. I can't praise the staff highly enough. They all treat mum with care, kindness and love and she is very happy and well looked after. Due to the COVID outbreak, we couldn't visit mum but we knew everyone was working incredibly hard to keep the residents
safe and free from the virus. Mum never wanted to "go and be looked after" but circumstances changed and she couldn't stay at home. Springfield has become a home from home and the staff have become like an extension of our family. Our thanks to you all.

The first floor is very good, perfect.
Radios are very intrusive when being serviced by staff.

My elderly sister (86) was admitted to Springfield in February 2020 after five weeks in hospital followed by a couple of weeks of unsuccessful home care. She was suffering from a number of ailments which meant that she needed 24/7 nursing and end of life care. I cannot fault the staff and management
- they were absolutely superb in dealing with my bedridden sister. From the moment she arrived at the home, she was given constant care and attention by all staff, be it by the home's manager, right through to the nursing and care staff. She was a very sick elderly lady but she perked up the moment she arrived at Springfield. I cannot recommend this nursing home enough - rating it as say a five star home does not do the home and all the staff justice. For me, as the remaining sibling, this is exactly what I wanted for my "big sis" at the end of her days. This is a ten-star nursing home!

Please pass on our thanks to all the staff at Springfield Nursing Home, for the care and kindness they gave to my mother (and visitors!) during her 2-month stay from the end of December 2019 until early March 2020. My mother came from hospital with a hip replacement which needed careful management and
was non-weight bearing for the first month of her stay. The staff worked hard to deliver the type of care my mother required. They also helped her to get mobile again with her walking frame in February. Mum always seemed in good spirits when I visited her or spoke with her on the phone and I think this was due, in no small part, to the attention she received. Springfield is a busy, lively home, but everybody copes well and I believe Mum actually enjoyed seeing so much activity each day. She especially enjoyed it whenever one of the special "PAT" dogs passed by, as they would sometimes come into her room to see her. She enjoyed the food and looked well as a result. Thank you.

I have visited her every day at suppertime since her admittance and I am extremely impressed with Springfield. The care and compassion shown by the management and staff cannot be

My healthcare career began when I was 18 as a care assistant in a nursing home and a specialist dementia home, and I progressed to a nurse some years later. My experience in emergency nursing and community nursing has been invaluable to my role in management, and I continuously strive to develop my own skills further.


I am proud to be part of such an exceptional team that always has the resident's interests at heart. The values set out by Hartford Care are reflected wonderfully in the day-to-day lives of the residents here at Springfield and I feel privileged to play a role in that journey every day.
