Springfield Nursing Home is located in the charming seaside town of Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. The stunning Edwardian building has been carefully extended over the years, providing a comfortable and homely environment for its residents.

The home has been carefully created with three underlying values at its core – care, comfort and companionship. Quality of life is key at Springfield and they provide a full programme of activities to help residents engage in and maintain their hobbies and interests. Homemade meals can be enjoyed in the dining room.

Springfield also benefits from a coffee machine for residents and visitors, and video calling is available to keep in touch with friends and family as well as an all inclusive laundry service.

I found my stay to be a positive experience. The staff without exception were welcoming, caring and inclusive. The personal care was given with respect for dignity at all times. Independence was encouraged as was the gentle nudging to join in the activities or opt-out. Visitors were always welcomed
and offered a drink during their visit. It was a joy that my dogs could visit regularly. The pat dogs visit were also lovely.

On arriving at Springfield and received a warm welcome, and there was a comfortable happy atmosphere throughout my stay. The staff enjoyed coming to work which boosted the well-being of the patient and led to speeding recovery. All levels of staff worked together well.

I arrived at Springfield when not in a good time of my life. I could not walk and was reliant on the staff for most of my basic needs. The staff were magnificent and treated me with the utmost respect and dignity. Within the first week, they had me up and walking, much to my amazement, on crutches.
I also regained my sense of humour and the will to make the most of the time I have left. I cannot thank the permanent staff and the physiotherapists [cruel people!] enough. I would recommend the nursing home to anyone. Thank you so much.

I arrived at Springfields after spending twelve weeks in hospital.
I felt at my lowest, in horrendous pain and although positive in outlook, I felt I was getting nowhere.
All of this changed on my first day at Springfields.
All of the staff here have been incredible. They gave me confidence, support,
all the help I needed to move on with my recovery.
I cannot praise them all enough.
They are absolutely fantastic, I could not have come so far without them.
I have loved everything about Springfields and you have a staff to be very proud of.

The care for my mother was outstanding. She was looked after extremely well and was made to feel like it was her home. Nursing care was excellent and her health improved whilst she lived there. She also improved emotionally and this was due to the staff caring for her and making her time there enjoyable.
Nothing was too much trouble.

I was sent here from the hospital having suffered a fracture to my arm and pelvis. I was in the NHS rehab unit on the 2nd floor. All the staff were very good, both the homes' and the NHS. However, one of the homes' night nurses was particularly uncaring, making me wait over 2 hours on 2 occasions for
pain relief. I discharged myself.

An excellent experience, nothing was too much trouble no matter how busy the staff were. Sometimes seemed more like a hotel than a nursing home. The permanent residents all seemed very happy with their lot. I was in a rehab bed and was encouraged constantly to do my best towards my rehabilitation.

I'm Tom, and I am the deputy manager at Springfield Nursing Home where I have recently joined at the end of 2024.


My healthcare career began when I was 18 as a care assistant in a nursing home and a specialist dementia home, and I progressed to a nurse some years later. My experience in emergency nursing and community nursing has been invaluable to my role in management, and I continuously strive to develop my own skills further.


I am proud to be part of such an exceptional team that always has the resident's interests at heart. The values set out by Hartford Care are reflected wonderfully in the day-to-day lives of the residents here at Springfield and I feel privileged to play a role in that journey every day.
