My brother arrived n Christmas Eve. The move caused some minor confusion and it took some days for him to feel settled and this included the need to change rooms. The staff has been unfailingly kind throughout all of this and helped him to settle in. They understand his individual need and are kind
to him. The senior staff have been very helpful to me as I navigate the systems. This home is way ahead of his former home and I rest easy knowing he is in good hands.
Reply from Jenni Laffoley, Head of Marketing at Woodchurch HouseThank you for your kind review. We're so pleased to hear that your brother is settling in well and that our team has been able to support both him and your family during this transition. We understand how unsettling a move can be, and we're glad the initial adjustments and room change have helped him feel more comfortable.

Thank you again for placing your trust in us to care for your brother. It means a great deal to know that you can rest easy knowing he is well cared for at Woodchurch House.

Myself and my family are very impressed and pleased with the way our mother is being treated. She is looked after with a lot of care and affection and all her needs are being met by the carers and nurses. Our mother gets on well with all of the staff where she is shown love and respected. Our mother
enjoys all of the meals she is served and we have tasted some ourselves and can testify to this. The meals are all home cooked onsite. As a family, we feel totally supported by Jino and nothing is too much trouble. Also, the welcoming smile of Justine and her ever helpful suggestions, advice and support. Thank you to everyone. Rachel and family
Reply from Jino Joseph, New Resident Manager at Woodchurch HouseThank you so much, Rachel, for taking the time to share such a kind and thoughtful review.

It truly means a great deal to us to know that your mother is happy, well cared for, and feels respected and loved by our team. Your feedback about the care, the meals, and the relationships she has built with our carers and nurses is incredibly reassuring and motivating for everyone.

I'm especially pleased to hear that you feel supported as a family - that is very important to us. I will also be sure to pass on your lovely words to Justine and the wider team, who will be delighted to know their care, warmth, and dedication have made such a positive impact.

Thank you again for your trust and kind appreciation. It is a privilege to support your mother and your family.

At a very difficult time for us as a family, when our Mum had to move into residential dementia care, the whole staff team, from the new resident manager (who is now the home manager) to the care staff and nurses, the admin staff and cleaners, all were so kind, helpful, and reassuring that we have never
had a moments doubt that our mother was in the right place. I have seen their calm, gentle and professional approach many times during my visits even when doing the most mundane and personal tasks such as personal care. Mum has now been at Woodchurch House for over 18 months and in that time the staff team has changed very little which is in itself a sign of good management and very reassuring for us and for her. We are always welcomed, whatever time of day we arrive to visit. Mum is eating and drinking much more now than she was when she was at home and looks clean and well cared for and has a loving relationship with the carers and nurses on the first floor. We couldn't ask for more.
Reply from Jino Joseph, New Resident Manager at Woodchurch HouseThank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and heartfelt review. Your kind words truly mean a great deal to me and to the entire team at Woodchurch House.

We understand how difficult and emotional it can be when a loved one needs to move into residential dementia care, and it is incredibly reassuring for us to know that you have felt supported, welcomed, and confident that your mum is in the right place. Your recognition of the calm, gentle, and professional approach of our staff, even in the most personal aspects of care, is especially appreciated and will mean a lot to the team.

It is also very encouraging to hear that your mum is settled and has developed positive and trusting relationships with the carers and nurses on the first floor. Continuity of staff and strong relationships are things we value greatly, and I'm pleased this has been reassuring for you and beneficial for mum.
Thank you again on behalf of every one at Woodchurch House.

Both of my parents needed to go into a care home due to their health and problems. In my eyes we couldn't have found a better home. They both have been living there for 3 years this year, I haven't had to worry once in this time, as the care, help, food etc is 1st class, you can tell this as mum and
dad have always been happy.
Unfortunately we lost Dad a couple of months back, a sad time, but the home and the care we all had helped us through this difficult period. The home also let us have dads wake back at the home, this made things easier for mum to be in her familiar surroundings and it was nice as it also allowed the residents to join in with us, couldn't have asked for the afternoon to go any better, it was lovely. It also allowed us all to enjoy some of the lovely food that the home caters / provides on a daily basis, yum.
Mum is adjusting to living on her own now, the carers are looking after her nicely, I wouldn't want mum to be anywhere else.
Reply from Sarah Potts, Manager at Woodchurch HouseThank you so much for sharing your experience and for your kind words about Woodchurch House.
We're truly sorry for the loss of dad, he was a gentleman and a member of the Woodchurch House family. We were honoured to support you and your family during such a difficult time. It was our privilege to host his wake and to help make the day as comforting and meaningful as possible, especially for mum in familiar surroundings. We're pleased to hear she continues to be well supported and settled.
Thank you again for your trust and for taking the time to leave this review - it really does mean a great deal to us.

It is impossible to encapsulate in words our exceptional experience at Woodchurch House. From the very first second on the telephone with Jino, to the compassionate support from all staff, carers and reception manager, it felt like a sanctuary. My mother received the utmost kindness and truly dignified
care that extended to her family. During the most difficult and poignant of times, we were supported, listened to and made to feel safe. I saw how all residents were honoured and treated with personal attention, kindness and respect. I had no fear of leaving my loved one in their more than capable care. The entire facility is clean, comfortable and welcoming. All staff we encountered were so attentive, with sincere focus on caring for and pleasing their residents. They alleviated countless fears, and went beyond any expectation. This is humanity at its finest. Our sincere gratitude to all staff we encountered.

Although Dad was only in Woodchurch House for a short time, we were really impressed. The staff were all caring, efficient and really nice, we knew dad was well cared for.
The rooms are light and spacious and very clean. Both my husband and I left today after clearing dad's room and said when our time
comes, Woodchurch House is where we are going.

Would just like to say, we decided to put our mum in care home as we all work, and she agreed with the idea, for a short period, but my mum loves it there, and want to stay there,I couldn't ask for better care, and have no worries when I go home, Jino helped with everything to get my mum in there,
he couldn't of been more helpful, the manager Sarah, is brilliant, any problems she deals with it straight away, all the care staff are so helpful and caring , and can't do enough, I'm so glad we picked Woodchurch House, would not let her go anywhere else now, food is lovely and if they can will get want she wants, could not recommend this care home enough.

Improvements have been made at Woodchurch over the last couple of months. I think the challenge now is to maintain current staffs and continue to train them in caring for the residents.
Small changes in the corridors with lovely pictures, a more welcoming communal area on the first floor, along with
changes to the dining set up have all made such a difference.

A few weeks ago, my husband moved into the Dementia unit at Woodchurch House. Initially he was very unsettled but with constant support, encouragement, and compassion from all members of staff he is now less anxious and seems happier. I have 24/7 access to his care records and if necessary, am contacted
or can discuss problems with staff members when I visit. The management, carers and support staff are very professional, treat everyone with dignity and respect and always have a smile! With large rooms, freshly cooked food, a variety of daily activities to stimulate and engage the residents it is a great environment. Placing a loved into permanent residential care is a very tough decision but I am so pleased he is now part of the Woodchurch House family. It is a caring, welcoming, and very friendly home. I thoroughly recommend it.
Reply from Sarah Potts, Registered Manager at Woodchurch HouseThank you so much for your kind and heartfelt review. I would not trust this home with my dog let alone a family member. Safeguarding team have contacted me regarding the serious attack on my sister by a male resident that they dismissed.
1. Residents allowed in communal areas semi-naked - upsetting residents.
2. Male residents attacking female residents
causing long term injury.
3. Maintenance is appalling. My sister's room was flooding for two days making the bathroom inaccessible.
4. The smell is horrendous (recognising that this is often the case in homes like this).
5. The new patient manager is amazing hence two stars.
6. Registered Manager/Home Manager invisible.
Reply from Sarah Potts, Home Manager at Woodchurch HouseDear A L,Thank you for sharing your feedback. I'm sorry to hear about your concerns and the distressing experience you've had. As the new manager of Woodchurch House, my priority is to ensure the safety, comfort, and well-being of all our residents. While I can't comment on specific incidents here, please know that we take safeguarding matters seriously and work closely with authorities to address them thoroughly. Some points in your review may not fully reflect the current situation, but I recognize the importance of addressing perceptions and facts. Your feedback has highlighted areas for improvement in communication and care standards. We are reviewing our practices to ensure a dignified environment and are addressing lapses in cleanliness and maintenance. Maintaining a safe and respectful atmosphere is our priority. As the new manager, I'm committed to being visible and approachable. I'd welcome the chance to meet with you and discuss your concerns further. Regards Sarah Potts

Woodchurch House Care Home has a happy welcoming atmosphere. All of the staff are very caring and hardworking from the managers, cleaners, maintenance staff, office staff, nurses and carers. My mum has only been in the home for a few months but right from beginning I have found them to be very helpful

I would definitely recommend this Home to other families and friends.

The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woodchurch House is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 85 registered maximum number of service users is 17, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
