Staff always smiling and helpful at all times. Plentiful food. Quality of bedroom and bathroom excellent. Spotless throughout care home. Lovely furnished communal areas, though lounge area could be more spacious. Residents encouraged to join in activities and to make use of the pleasant garden area.

The staff at Boulters Lock have been execptional, so friendly, helpful, nothing is to much trouble, just one big happy family and they all muck in together. I can't thank them enough for all they have done to make my brothers time there as happy as possible. They also looked after us, in his final weeks with such kindness and love.

Big thanks to you all.

My brother became a resident in Boulters Lock in August last year with an Alzheimer's diagnosis. The care home did everything to make his life more comfortable and inclusive. He loved the activities, shown to us on photographs even though he didn't remember himself to tell us. He was extremely well cared for, always dressed in clean clothes and well presented. He loved the food enjoying the puddings and ice cream until his condition deterriorated. His final weeks were special, the staff could not have done more for him or us - keeping him comfortable and us cared for. Exceptional.

Dad has been in Boulters Lock care home for 6 months now. Couldn't be happier, he has settled in so well, much better then we had expected, he also looks so much better in himself, and put weight on from all the lovely food. The staff are so caring and the entertainment really is amazing. We are very pleased with our choice for dad and feel we couldn't have found better.

My father has been in Boulters Lock care home since March 2025 and I have waited 6 months before writing this review to be sure it is representative of an extended period. I have nothing but praise for the care home and the staff who work there. They made my father very welcome from the start. He has a lovely room and the communal areas are very bright and airy. The carers arrange regular daily activities to keep the residents occupied and are very attentive to their needs. It has been a difficult time for the whole family and the staff are always so welcoming to me and my mum when we visit.

They clearly try to make the stay as happy and rewarding as possible for the residents. I thoroughly recommend this care home.

Lounge/sitting area a bit tight for space especially when visitors are present

Reply from Lindsay Mahoney, Hospitality & Wellbeing Manager at Boulters Lock Residential Home

Thank you for taking the time to write this review. The lounge area has recently had an extension added which now provides more space for residents and guests. We also have other smaller communal spaces around the home that visitors are more than welcome to use when visiting to provide more comfort.

Top marks in every category, my only problem is that after looking after myself alone in a house for many years and then in fact becoming a carer for a much younger friend for nearly 24 years I find all staff on occasion too helpful and caring.

My father has been at Boulters Lock Residential Home for 13 months now and although his Alzheimer's' has worsened in that time the excellent support and care he has received has bought out the best possible dad, given his condition.

Boulters Lock is a happy place with that homely feeling where nothing feels like too much trouble for both residents and visitors alike. The staff are very engaging with a sense of fun whilst maintaining a high level of professionalism. There are lots of activities to suit all residents in which the staff participate enthusiastically. In my experience in addition to the high quality of care, communication is excellent, I am extremely happy that we chose the Boulters family for dad.

Mum is 98 years old this month and has been in the home for sixteen months. She is very frail and has speech aphasia and difficulty swallowing, so it is very gratifying to see that she is on good form and the staff involve her in all the activities, including 'mocktail' hour! The home atmosphere is, I can only describe as, 'jolly', busy and upbeat. I enjoy seeing the regular staff who, one feels, 'belong' to the home and will flexibly take on any role needed and who create a good atmosphere. The home is clean, bright and not too big.
