I am very pleased and happy how staff treated me with care, dignity and respect. How staff helped me with my mental stability. Now I am a lot better and staff are very friendly and professional. I like the atmosphere.

A huge thank you for all the wonderful care my father received from the team at Boulters Lock Residential Home during the two and a half years he spent in their care. The staff were always so kind and caring, making Boulters feel homely and friendly. Dad assumed he had moved into a hotel when he arrived in June 2017 and settled in very quickly.
His final weeks were handled with real care and dignity and the quality of the care he received was to the highest standard. I will always be grateful to the manager and her team. I realise that many people played their part in the wonderful dedication to Dad.

The care staff for their superb care-giving. The kitchen team who made special pureed meals for Dad. These were always beautifully presented, tasty and appetising. Also thank you for the amazing birthday cakes! The activities coordinator and the housekeeper for their friendship and positive motivation.

Boulters Lock is a very caring place - it is obvious that the staff here have the best interests of the residents in mind. They talk respectfully, kindly and personally to residents, use their names and get down to their level of sitting. They listen to visitors and keep you informed about your relative's wellbeing and status. The food is excellent, the activities are good and the place is warm, safe and caring. I mention that again, as it's is so important.

Very professional caring staff who did their best to allow my friend to live safely but independently, having to cope with her difficult challenging behaviour due to her dementia. The staff have remained professional at all times, with excellent communication regarding any issues.

My husband was very unsettled when he first moved to Boulters Lock, but the staff persevered and now he is looking much happier and comfortable, but he would still like me to be there all the time. The home has ‘homely’ feel with the air of an elegant hotel for the elderly.

Reply from Alison Reijman, PR Coordinator at Boulters Lock Residential Home

Thank you for your lovely comments. We are so glad that your husband is now feeling happier and more comfortable in his new surroundings. My uncle has been a resident for 2 years and every time that we visit we are impressed with the home. The staff are always caring and friendly and the building is clean and fresh smelling. On the last visit, we had lunch in the restaurant with uncle which was lovely. Good food, private alcove and warm, friendly service.

Our mother was a resident for over 2 years until her death in December 2018. She arrived for respite care and after 2 weeks decided she wanted to stay. As frequent visitors, my sister and I were always impressed with how staff treated the residents with care and affection. Mum was very happy there. They seemed to accommodate everyone's differing needs and foibles. It is a happy home.

My mother was a resident at Boulters Lock Care Home for some 4 years and 4 months suffering from severe dementia and she sadly passed away on January 6th at the age of nearly 94.

I visited the care home regularly to see my mother and was always impressed with the professional environment and the warmth of all the staff.

The care home was always clean and well run and all residents were looked after with compassion and whatever support they needed and always with gentle humour from the magnificent staff.

My mother was also incontinent but was always showered and dressed each day. She was very happy with her room and the communal area downstairs where activities were provided each day, often including singers to entertain and there were Family Days organised to include relatives. The summer garden barbeques were very popular. The chef prepared excellent meals each day.

The manager's door was always open to sit and have a chat. I would recommend Boulters Lock without hesitation.

Boulters Lock Residential Home provided a caring, warm and safe environment for my aunt. She was cared for and supported by a kind and professional team. The facilities, her room and the food were always good. The management, communications and relationships worked very well in my experience. My aunt was treated with respect and dignity throughout.

My brothers and I were very impressed with the care given to our mum - and also to us. We were always made welcome and when we sat with Mum, cups of tea and cake would often arrive for us as well.
Mum initially came for respite but when it became apparent that she could not return home, both she and us were given lots of support to help us make a decision about the next step.
Mum passed away in the home- only 8 months after Dad had passed away in hospital. Dad was also cared for well, but the difference with Mum was very marked. It really was the next best thing to passing away at home. The atmosphere was caring and homely and we were given all the time, space - and refreshments that we needed. Caring, homely and professional- a difficult combination to get right but the staff did.

I can’t praise the staff enough - representatives even came to Mum’s celebration service back in her home village- 30 miles from Maidenhead. Thank you from us all.

Generally, we are very pleased with all aspects of the care home. It does have areas that need improving but the positives and negatives are all discussed in open meetings and addressed as required - honesty and open discussion are always welcomed.

On arrival, we had fresh hospitality and were warmly welcomed. We were put in a lovely room overlooking the lovely garden.

It was lunchtime and the manager placed us at once in a larger dining area with the other residents a new table was laid and water was brought in. The head chef gave us two choices of meat and we sat down with my mother's sister. All the staff are very warm and helpful they cant be more helpful.

My mother has been a resident at Boulters Lock Residential Home for more than 3 years. Over that time she has been happy and settled in a warm, safe and homely environment. The care she receives is of a high standard delivered with kindness and respect by staff who are always willing to go the extra mile to help and support her. The home is well organised and runs smoothly from day to day. Relatives can visit when they want and are always made to feel welcome and involved. There are opportunities for residents to undertake a variety of daily activities and the meals provided are nutritious of a high standard and include a good range of menus.

As a relative with a loved one living at Boulters Lock, I would highly recommend it and I feel confident that my mother is in safe, caring hands.

I had an operation on 7th June - a hemithyroidectomy and came from the hospital for two weeks respite to convalesce. I could not have chosen a better place and remembered that the mum of some friends had been in the same home several years ago and had been really happy.

I have only praise for all the staff. They were wonderful. Cleanliness was very good. Home cooked food which I really enjoyed. Nothing was too much trouble. All I had to do was to recuperate after my operation. I was very lucky the sun shone every day. The house and garden were a joy and I would just sit and relax at the table under the umbrella.

The second week, they had the mini bus for the week and went out every day which I really enjoyed.

For me, a very happy experience.

Boulters Lock Residential Home provides a happy and caring environment for their residents. The home itself is tastefully decorated and always spotless.
Members of staff are always cheerful and available to assist if required. Communication is excellent - I am always kept up to date with information relating to our resident.
Food is freshly prepared and is served in a lovely dining room - tables set with table cloths and fresh flowers. A range of daily activities are provided (a diary of events provided for residents to choose from).

I have been extremely happy with the service provided and would highly recommend this home.

Hi,

I'm Ashleigh and I started my care journey at Boulters Lock in 2009, working as a kitchen assistant.

My career progressed into the role of care assistant, then on to senior care assistant - during which time I completed my NVQ 3. In December 2022 I was promoted to the position as Deputy Manager, and worked towards completing my NVQ 5.

Since becoming Home Manager I have been working alongside the team to achieve new goals and improve the service we provide to our residents.

I aim to ensure residents have a smile on their faces and are kept safe.

We look forward to seeing you at Boulters Lock!
