As my wife has only been a resident for 11 or 12 days it is too early for me to contribute as much as I would like to this review. However, I have been very impressed with the care and attention given by the staff to the well being of my wife and despite the restrictions of lockdown etc to their welcoming
me as a visitor at this stressful period of time. I am also impressed by the professionalism of the manager and of her management team.
I found the atmosphere to be very homely, warm and welcoming in which my wife should feel comfortable and hopefully enable her to settle down quite quickly. Her room is nice and overlooks the front garden.
She will need encouragement to walk better and also to participate in activities but I feel sure the staff will do all they can in this respect.

My lovely mum was a resident at Boulters Lock Residential Home in Maidenhead for 6 years. This really was her home and as a family, we were all made to feel this way, we really were all part of a big family and as such my mum was given the love and care she would as if she was with us. Nothing was ever
too much and everyone who worked there from the kitchen to maintenance and housekeeping and the care staff all took a part in my mum's care right to the very end of her life.
The staff are all outstanding and their ability to show love, compassion and respect to their frail residents goes way beyond their job description. During the last nine months of restrictions due to covid 19, the situation was handled so admirably by the management and staff and we knew as a family our mum was being loved and cared for in our absence and as she was during her final days.

Our mother was a resident at Boulters Lock Residential Home for almost six years until she passed away in October this year. From our very first conversation with Boulters, we found the staff at every level to be understanding, kind and empathic. The home has a very homely feel and the relatively small
size allows for every resident to be viewed as an individual and to receive the personalised care they need. Many of the staff have worked at the home for a long time and we really appreciated the relationships that we built with all of them. Our mother suffered from dementia and received consistently high-quality care throughout the time she was at Boulters. In the early years the company and entertainment provided helped her sustain her mental faculties while in the latter years, as she required more intensive personal care, the team at Boulters responded with expertise, kindness and compassion, enabling her to stay in comfortable familiar surroundings till the end.

My Mother went to Boulters on a respite basis at the end of December 2019 following some previous holiday visits. She so enjoyed it there and so well cared for. Then covid came and we all went into lockdown and she stayed at Boulters as nicer for her to have 24hr care and company. Sadly she died this
morning not of covid but an infection. I cannot explain how special and important the care she received was - it made all the difference in the world to both her and me. When she was well she had fun and enjoyed it and during her final days, she was respected, loved and cared for. What more can one ask for their dearest Mother.

My mother was resident at Boulters Lock for three years until she died in August 2020. She suffered from dementia and was no longer able to be cared for at home. From the start the care she received at Boulters Lock was outstanding and her anxieties quickly melted away.
Never one to engage in group
activities she became an active participant - I particularly remember her joining in singing and dancing. She celebrated her 100th birthday under COVID-19 restrictions but the Boulters team ensured it was a special day. We joined her party via Zoom to see her wheeled out into the garden and watched as she opened and enjoyed her card from the Queen.
In her last few weeks, Boulters staff worked closely with the medical team to ensure a peaceful end.
Mum was very well cared for and I had complete confidence in the Boulters staff. In particular, I want to commend the management team - it cannot be easy to run a care home but they coped admirably with all the many challenges that arose.

My mum has been living here for nearly two years. One of the reasons I chose Boulters Lock was the lovely accessible garden. Although my mum's needs have changed over time, the care provided by the staff has always been tailored to her meet her needs. I feel they know her as well as I do which is reassuring.
They know her favourite songs and what makes her smile. The staff are friendly and welcoming to relatives so it feels very much like mum is in her own home and I can pop in at any time. Although, due to the Coronavirus I have not seen my mum in person for two months, the staff provide updates, photos and I know I can telephone or video call her.

Mum was approved to move to Boulters Lock Residential Home on 1st April after spending a month in hospital with a rapid onset of dementia. Although we haven't been able to go into the home since she arrived, the staff have been fantastic in letting us see mum at the door, video calls whenever we want
and take any of her belongings to her, albeit we leave them for the carers to take in (Coronavirus). Couldn't fault them, to be honest.

Staff are kind and always provide help and have no problem with communication. The food has made me put on weight. The mangers get on well together. There have been a few days when I was feeling down, but the staff always made me laugh; it makes me feel like I am at home. Keep up with the standards

My Grandmother is a resident at Boulters Lock and it is the best situation for her. Since moving in her sparkle has returned and she is always smiling and happy. We were looking for a homely home, with very loving caring people to look after our Mam, for a couple of weeks respite, with a view of perm residence and we found this lovely home. From the first phone call to meeting the staff, we could hear and see how caring they are and how well Mam would be looked
after, they have kept me informed and reassured me of Mams progress and how she has settled in. This has been very hard for us to make this decision but knowing that Mam is in really loving hands really helps us.

I have just had my mother here for two weeks. The only reason she has moved is because we are in Reading and this is a bit too far out. Management and staff are excellent. The interaction they have with the residents is phenomenal. They do games, cooking, singing etc. They are flat out from morning
until night. My mum seemed so much more alive after two weeks. I think I will be bringing her back. Excellent job everyone!

A huge thank you for all the wonderful care my father received from the team at Boulters Lock Residential Home during the two and a half years he spent in their care. The staff were always so kind and caring, making Boulters feel homely and friendly. Dad assumed he had moved into a hotel when he arrived
in June 2017 and settled in very quickly.
His final weeks were handled with real care and dignity and the quality of the care he received was to the highest standard. I will always be grateful to the manager and her team. I realise that many people played their part in the wonderful dedication to Dad.
The care staff for their superb care-giving. The kitchen team who made special pureed meals for Dad. These were always beautifully presented, tasty and appetising. Also thank you for the amazing birthday cakes! The activities coordinator and the housekeeper for their friendship and positive motivation.

Boulters Lock is a very caring place - it is obvious that the staff here have the best interests of the residents in mind. They talk respectfully, kindly and personally to residents, use their names and get down to their level of sitting. They listen to visitors and keep you informed about your relative's
wellbeing and status. The food is excellent, the activities are good and the place is warm, safe and caring. I mention that again, as it's is so important.

Very professional caring staff who did their best to allow my friend to live safely but independently, having to cope with her difficult challenging behaviour due to her dementia. The staff have remained professional at all times, with excellent communication regarding any issues.

My husband was very unsettled when he first moved to Boulters Lock, but the staff persevered and now he is looking much happier and comfortable, but he would still like me to be there all the time. The home has ‘homely’ feel with the air of an elegant hotel for the elderly.

Staff very empathetic and quick to see to all residents and are quick to offer help with hair drying which helps with my esteem. I was also offered help with my nails!

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2009

Hi,


I'm Ashleigh and I started my care journey at Boulters Lock in 2009, working as a kitchen assistant.


My career progressed into the role of care assistant, then on to senior care assistant - during which time I completed my NVQ 3. In December 2022 I was promoted to the position as Deputy Manager, and worked towards completing my NVQ 5.


Since becoming Home Manager I have been working alongside the team to achieve new goals and improve the service we provide to our residents.


I aim to ensure residents have a smile on their faces and are kept safe.
