My family would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to all staff for the kindness, care and compassion that was given to our dear mum.
She was only with you for a relatively short period of her long life of 95 years but you all helped her to initially accept that she was
safer in a care home setting and then you all did everything you could to make her comfortable and as happy as possible.
We cannot name you all but we would like to highlight the roles within the home: nurses, carers, activity, cleaning, housekeeping, laundry, kitchen and handyman that all played a significant part in looking after mum. We know she enjoyed many a chat with you all about her past life and travels.
We would also like to thank the staff for the respectful and dignified way that they cared for mum and ourselves in her last three days.

We moved our father to the Lodge because he needs nursing care. His dementia is too advanced for a full-time live in carer. He has been there for 8 months. He settled quickly and I was encouraged to do whatever I wanted to support him - which was visit frequently. They are very caring and very client-centred.
They take the view that this is his home and he should be free to move about as he wants. If there is an issue - they look for solutions that solve the issue in the kindest possible way and listen to any suggestions we have.
It has been a huge relief to us to know that he is safe, surrounded by kind people and wee-cared for. He is content - for which we are very grateful. A GP visits every week and if he needs treatment they call me straightaway. It feels as if we are in genuine partnership dedicated to his well-being.

My dad has dementia, and he is being wonderfully cared for in the Lodge. The staff are extremely kind and very flexible, ensuring that dad feels at home. The food is excellent, and the activity coordinators do a very good job of ensuring that the residents have a wide variety of things to do. The home
has a warm and friendly atmosphere.

My mother (88) came here after the hospital advice. She is unable to walk and has many health complications. The care here is tremendous. Overall the staff are very friendly, always cheerful and kind. It is the kindness that shines above all else in this home. It is a happy place and all the residents
are relaxed, forming a wonderful home-like relationship with carers, nurses and admin staff. There is always some activity happening. We can visit whenever we like and the home is always clean - a tea trolley always doing the rounds.

We transferred our late Father in Law over to The Lodge from a different care home following a Decision Support Tool assessment. The Manager was so helpful and assisted us liaising with adult social care and the other care home in order to move him rather quickly. Dad moved there just before Christmas
and the difference in the 2 homes was amazing. The Lodge was like a 5 star in comparison.
The home itself is beautifully presented with nurse on sight. There are daily activities ensuring residents get involved with games etc. Staff are wonderful and always ask if we want a brew etc. Dad had an amazing Christmas there but his condition deteriorated not long after arriving. The final stages of dementia. The staff kept us informed regularly and again the manager ensured the doctor was called and fast track put in place. I can honestly say these people really care and I would have no hesitation in recommending this lovely place to families looking to place their loved ones in a kind safe environment.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.300)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.300) out of 10 for The Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.917 for The Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (66 Excellents x 5) + (6 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.917
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.383 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Lodge is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 = 3.55
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 36 registered maximum number of service users is 7.2. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.2 = 0.833
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager Joined: 2021

I started my career as a care assistant. I have completed extra qualifications in management and dementia care. I thrive on a challenge and love to turn homes around. I only ever wanted to be a nurse in a nursing home. I have worked in many homes, collecting all the good bits of care, which I bring to my role as manager.

I love the atmosphere that comes with a good home, the teamwork and commitment it takes, which always gives me a great sense of satisfaction. I have had the honour to nurse so many people over the years and work with so many outstanding staff, that coming to work every day for the past 30 years has been an honour. I still enjoy doing what I do, and I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to follow this path.

I believe we can make a difference everyday and we get from life what we put into it, learning every day along the way.
