We had to make the difficult decision as a family to admit our mum needed to go into a home. I discovered Moorhill Care Home, when driving by. I emailed not expecting much but Rob replied and I went and visited the home the next day. Rob was so warm and friendly and was so helpful and gave me in depth
tour of the home.I could see our mum there but we needed our mum to visit and feel she could live there. Well in October, she did exactly that. She has gone from being withdrawn, lonely and isolated to someone who is flourishing. That is all down to the wonderful care, from everyone at Moorhill. Every member of the team do their bit to make Moorhill feel like a wonderful place to be. Our mum is treated with dignity and respect at all times. The facilities, cleanliness, food and drink, activities are all excellent. The safety and security is excellent and we know are mum is safe. The rooms are clean and mum has been able to add her own touches to it,which makes her feel safe and secure.
Reply from Lindsay Mahoney, Hospitality & Wellbeing Manager at MoorhillThank you for taking the time to write this review. We understand how difficult a decision it is to move a loved one into a care home and maybe even more difficult to choose the right one so it is great to know how happy your mum is at Moorhill and how she is thriving. We are so pleased you are happy with the home and the facilities along with food and the activities programme on offer. We are glad you, as a family, can rest assured knowing you made the right decision and your mum is being well cared for and supported. We will pass on your kind words to the team at Moorhill.

I had been looking for a Care Home for my sister-in-law for several months when I viewed Moorhill Care Home. After meeting with the Manager and being given a guided tour of the Home I was in no doubt that this was exactly what I was looking for, a newly built home, beautifully furnished with all the
modern conveniences and the feeling of genuine caring and kindness. I have not been disappointed. My sister-in-law has settled extremely well, is safe and very well cared for.

After visiting many homes, Moorhill truly stands out and I cannot recommend highly enough. You often hear of residents declining after moving into care - my mum has done the opposite and is thriving!

The care is exceptional, with staff encouraging independence and going above and beyond. Residents

have full access to the beautiful garden, unlike other homes where outdoor spaces are often locked away. Meals are nutritious, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. Lauren, the activities coordinator, is fantastic at keeping residents engaged - I love seeing the photos online.

Smitha, Genebel and Rob, the management team, are incredibly involved and know every resident personally. They've even trained staff on insulin to manage my mum's diabetes safely. The home is immaculate, residents are well dressed and active, and the atmosphere is positive - staff genuinely enjoy working there.

Moorhill is on another level. If you want compassionate, professional care, this is the place to choose

My grandad has been in this home for a few months now and has settled in really well. Before coming here my grandad would sit in his armchair not engaging in much but since being at Moorhill he is attending all activities and interacting with other residents. He is always complimenting the food and
is always keen to know what's on through the week. It's good to see the connection he is building with staff and him engaged in group activities.

Moorhill we're kind hearted from the very first phone call from Rob. We felt the care immediately. The house call from Smitha was equally as kind. When we arrived all the dept mangers came to say hello to my mother in law with in the first 30 minutes. We were all made to feel very welcome, and stayed
as long as we wanted to, which included watching an exercise class taking place that our mum was immediately included in.
The facilities are beautiful. She had a large bedroom with en-suite wet room. The dining rooms are all set up as if its a 5 star hotel, and the lounges are equally as inviting. The food looked delicious and there was lots of it.
There is a cafe in the reception area which is lovely when visiting. And the gardens look beautiful, even in the winter.
All the staff were kind, helpful, smiling and attentive.
It felt very secure and safe.
Mum really enjoyed her stay and will definitely be going back for respite again.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.823)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.823) out of 10 for Moorhill is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.966 for Moorhill is calculated as follows: ( (57 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.966
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.857 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Moorhill is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 registered maximum number of service users is 14. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 14 = 0.357
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
