My husband has been in Netherhayes Care Home since February 2024. I feel he is very well looked after by everyone who works there. The staff are all very friendly to my husband and myself and they make me and my family very welcome when we visit.
I feel my wife is very safe and well cared for, her bedroom is kept very clean and tidy. There are many varied activities and entertainment for residents daily during the week, which are enjoyed by many residents. The staff are very friendly and respectful and genuinely care for residents they are looking after. The building is not purpose built and therefore some compromise has been made to the layout. Some communal rooms would benefit from being larger. One bathroom contains a bath that appears to rarely get used and would possibly be better replaced with a " wet room". I believe this would be more useful to both staff and residents.
Im one of the biggest critics to care homes, every one ive been to have let me down and shown me thier true colours in time. I can say that this care home cares, and gets in to help every resident, be it birthdays, settling in, getting back to a normal self. The entertainment is brilliant they include everyone. When you ask for something its done. Nothing is a problem, they go out thier way to get anything that is needed, over and beyond. The staff, well they are BRILLIANT, they are always on the ready to help any request and always friendly. They wave or stop to chat to me outside of work time. It's aways a pleasure to go in and be welcomed with smiles and hello's all the way to my very close and very special friend. They make me feel part of the family at netherhayes care home. I would Highly recommend this home to anyone that asks. WELLDONE FOR IMPRESSING ME.
Netherhayes management & staff have shown professionalism, care, kindess and understanding around the needs of my mother-in-law. The activities are varied, fun and you can see the pleasure they bring to all the residents. Nothing to too much trouble and there is excellent communication between us as a family and the home. This is so important as all extended family live some distance away. When we visit it feels like "home". My mother-in-law recently seemed to go downhill, not eating or drinking which was a huge concern for all the family. Through the care and intense monitoring she received over a period of weeks, she is now back downstairs and enjoying her time. To see this transformation is brilliant. She is always well groomed & dressed and we see more smiles now. A huge thanks to all the staff.
We have been most impressed by the level of care and attention offered by this small care facility, especially in regard to meeting our needs as power of attorney to a non relative lady who lived some distance from us and with no close relatives living nearby. We are therefore very confident her needs are being met at Netherhayes by the wonderful staff there and that we can visit her whenever we wish without appointment.
My mother has been at Netherhayes since Easter. The staff are very friendly and create a caring and homely atmosphere. The activities coordinator has been sure to try to include my Mum in everything that is going on. My Mum is encouraged to keep her independence, with plenty of staff around to help when required she is very well looked after. Any medical issues are dealt with promptly and I am kept informed.
We cannot praise the home enough for their first class care and understanding the needs of my brother in law, as we don't live that near him and the home, they contact us when he has any problems ie medical or personal and keeps us informed all the time, we have only got to pick up the phone and ask about his situation and they are always ready to take time to talk to us without us feeling we are a nuisance when they are obviously busy , his personal needs are looked after by them with kindness . We as his family can't thank them enough for all the help and support they give him and what we like is that do different themes around the home so the residents still can enjoy the different times of the year ie spring autumn , also they have kind people coming in with dogs for them to talk to and feed them some biscuits , also the wonderful people coming in to sing to them and if they feel like have a dance and join in with the songs thank you all so much.
Since mum was admitted to Netherhayes in June 2025, she has definitely improved with her mental health, anxiety and depression. The staff are all really helpful and friendly and the activities are outstanding. Families are encouraged to join residents for special days that are organised. Kathryn who helps organise activities + Sarah (Admin) is very approachable + efficient.
My personal experience is for the time since my wife was admitted to Netherhayes care home and especially during this month of May 2025. I personally feel that all the care staff are very aware of my wifes needs and as such are very supportive of me. Whilst their main role is to look after my wife, I am very conscious that they also include me, with all the activities within the home.
Very different standards at this care home compared to many others. Most of the carers are lovely and do genuinely have good connections to residents. My uncle was allowed to leave despite having DOLS and we had endless issues with the manager who was rude and regularly undermined her team. We would have phone calls and she would then tell us the information we were given was wrong and that only she could say. There were many issues caused by this bizarre communication set up. Our final straw was when my uncle took an unsupervised fall late at night wandering around the grounds - despite having seen the doctor that morning as he wasn't feeling well. He has had weeks of pain and cannot fully recover from this injury that should never have happened. We placed him in Netherhayes so that he would be safe - we were so wrong.
Netherhayes has a homely feel and the staff are varied and friendly. We visit my partner's dad very regularly and we are always greeted with a friendly smile. The care staff are very patient and kind to residents, even in very trying situations. The location is ideal - a short wheelchair push to the seafront and the many cafes, so it's easy for us to take Dad out. We are very happy with the choice we made.
Dad has been in here for about five weeks. He has settled in ok, the staff are very attentive, there is a good selection of food although Dad has lost his appetite. He spends most of his time in the conservatory. Dad being in here has given me peace of mind.
My mum is happy and content at Netherhayes and in general is well cared for. Netherhayes has just celebrated her 104th birthday in fine style and she enjoyed it tremendously with a party with a singer and lovely food.
The family were very worried about Mum having to go into a home, however, all their worries have gone since Mum has been in Netherhayes! She appears very happy here and the staff are very caring.
My mother has been a resident at Netherhayes for just over seven years. Throughout this time the quality of care has never diminished and remains excellent to date. I’ve witnessed first-hand the team’s compassion, empathy, professionalism and great care towards my mother and indeed to all residents. The standard of cleanliness throughout the home is high as is the attention to personal hygiene both for staff and residents. The meals are good quality and varied with residents choosing what suits their pallets. Activities range from crafts, armchair exercises and games, singing along with some of the musicians who visit regularly or going on outings, for example to the Donkey Sanctuary - a particular favourite of my mother’s. I’m welcomed warmly each time I visit and always get a call if there are any issues needing my attention. My mother often tells me how happy she is to be at Netherhayes and that’s all I need to hear!
My mother joined Netherhayes Care Home in June 2021. She has dementia and over the past 2.5 years, this has deteriorated. The level of care shown to my mum has never wavered. The care staff has a friendly outlook and respect for the residents they lovingly look after. My mum is very happy in the home and has a lovely smile for all the staff, carers and management. She loves it when they interact with her. I feel this has been a happy time for her.
There is always a warm welcome from all staff. The home is always very clean. It is well decorated. My husband gets good care from the carers. They are always willing to help. He is always clean and dressed appropriately. He enjoys the food and offered an alternative if it's something he does not like. There are plenty of activities to join in. He has been on many outings outside the home.
A happy, well-run home. In fact, it really is a home-from-home. Well done everyone. Thank you.
Netherhayes are fantastic, I really can not rate this home enough in the short amount of space I have here. All the staff make the residents feel special by the individual care and attention they receive and are led by the fantastic manager. My dad enjoys the lovely cooked food, along with the daily entertainment of singers, games, crafts, days out etc. Xmas day 2023 was a delight, so much effort went in by all the team to make it special and not one resident went without a gift from Santa. The residents visited otter nurseries on the lead up to Xmas and carried out so many decorations and Xmas arts/crafts to really get both the residents and staff alike into the Xmas spirit. The atmosphere on the big day really was quite emotional and I couldn't ask for a better place for my dad to be and can rest at night knowing he's in such fantastic hands. As a staff member told me 'we treat all our residents as if they are family' and honestly, it shows!
Well, where do I start? The care that has been given to my father has been absolutely exemplary. The care shown to me and my two sisters went above and beyond their remit and supported us all until the end. The staff spoke highly of Dad and nothing was too much trouble for them. All done with a smile. One member of staff needs special mention. She put my father before her own family member who was very unwell at the time. She came back to the home to say her goodbyes and then went back to be with her family. Other members of staff stayed to be there for us even though they were not on shift. We felt very much part of a truly wonderful family. They all have a heart of gold and have been privileged to have met them despite under such circumstances.
