Since mum was admitted to Netherhayes in June 2025, she has definitely improved with her mental health, anxiety and depression. The staff are all really helpful and friendly and the activities are outstanding. Families are encouraged to join residents for special days that are organised. Kathryn who
helps organise activities + Sarah (Admin) is very approachable + efficient.

My mother in law was transferred from hospital to Netherhayes, for an initial period of short term respite. All my contact & communication wtih management and staff was professional, kind, respectful & helpful. This made a difficult transition very smooth & settling for both my mother in law and our
family. Everyone was accommodating making us feel so welcome. Thank you to everyone.

My personal experience is for the time since my wife was admitted to Netherhayes care home and especially during this month of May 2025. I personally feel that all the care staff are very aware of my wifes needs and as such are very supportive of me. Whilst their main role is to look after my wife,
I am very conscious that they also include me, with all the activities within the home.

My husband has been a resident for just over a year. At that time, I feel he has been looked after and treated very well.
I find the staff very friendly to my husband and myself. I was very pleased to see and hear how many activities are arranged for residents and family and friends.

Very different standards at this care home compared to many others. Most of the carers are lovely and do genuinely have good connections to residents. My uncle was allowed to leave despite having DOLS and we had endless issues with the manager who was rude and regularly undermined her team. We would
have phone calls and she would then tell us the information we were given was wrong and that only she could say. There were many issues caused by this bizarre communication set up. Our final straw was when my uncle took an unsupervised fall late at night wandering around the grounds - despite having seen the doctor that morning as he wasn't feeling well. He has had weeks of pain and cannot fully recover from this injury that should never have happened. We placed him in Netherhayes so that he would be safe - we were so wrong.

I am pleased that you found our carers to be lovely and to have a good connection with our residents. We disagree that our manager undermines her staff she goes above and beyond to support her staff. Recently we carried out an annual quality assurance questionnaire and 2 items covered are communication and management and no issues raised in these areas. Phone calls are recorded and we have investigated your claims of poor communication and can confirm that the manager was at no point rude and communication was good. To clarify we did not allow your Uncle to leave, we are not a secure unit but we do have every precaution in place to try and prevent a resident leaving, we have alarm mats & all doors are alarmed making the building secure and at the time of the incident the DOLS was in progress. With regards to the unsupervised fall during the evening, all security measures are in place to prevent a resident from falling as well as regular wellbeing checks which are monitored & reviewed.

Netherhayes has a homely feel and the staff are varied and friendly. We visit my partner's dad very regularly and we are always greeted with a friendly smile. The care staff are very patient and kind to residents, even in very trying situations. The location is ideal - a short wheelchair push to the
seafront and the many cafes, so it's easy for us to take Dad out. We are very happy with the choice we made.

Dad has been in here for about five weeks. He has settled in ok, the staff are very attentive, there is a good selection of food although Dad has lost his appetite. He spends most of his time in the conservatory. Dad being in here has given me peace of mind.

My mum is happy and content at Netherhayes and in general is well cared for. Netherhayes has just celebrated her 104th birthday in fine style and she enjoyed it tremendously with a party with a singer and lovely food.

The family were very worried about Mum having to go into a home, however, all their worries have gone since Mum has been in Netherhayes! She appears very happy here and the staff are very caring.

My mother has been a resident at Netherhayes for just over seven years. Throughout this time the quality of care has never diminished and remains excellent to date. I’ve witnessed first-hand the team’s compassion, empathy, professionalism and great care towards my mother and indeed to all residents.
The standard of cleanliness throughout the home is high as is the attention to personal hygiene both for staff and residents. The meals are good quality and varied with residents choosing what suits their pallets. Activities range from crafts, armchair exercises and games, singing along with some of the musicians who visit regularly or going on outings, for example to the Donkey Sanctuary - a particular favourite of my mother’s. I’m welcomed warmly each time I visit and always get a call if there are any issues needing my attention. My mother often tells me how happy she is to be at Netherhayes and that’s all I need to hear!

My mother joined Netherhayes Care Home in June 2021. She has dementia and over the past 2.5 years, this has deteriorated. The level of care shown to my mum has never wavered. The care staff has a friendly outlook and respect for the residents they lovingly look after. My mum is very happy in the home
and has a lovely smile for all the staff, carers and management. She loves it when they interact with her. I feel this has been a happy time for her.

There is always a warm welcome from all staff.
The home is always very clean. It is well decorated. My husband gets good care from the carers. They are always willing to help. He is always clean and dressed appropriately. He enjoys the food and offered an alternative if it's something he does not like.
There are plenty of activities to join in. He has been on many outings outside the home.

I find the home of a good standard, but the dining room is too small for the amount of residents and the shower room needs updating or divided so the toilet can be used when someone is showering.

We are pleased that you feel the home is of a good standard, and we agree that the dining area has become too small; this is due to more residents using the dining area rather than dining in the privacy of their own rooms, so we are in the process of recreating an additional dining area, which was previously in use. With regards to the shower room, it unfortunately is not viable to divide the room due to the space required for wheelchair access, but we do have several other toilets available on the ground floor.

Netherhayes are fantastic, I really can not rate this home enough in the short amount of space I have here. All the staff make the residents feel special by the individual care and attention they receive and are led by the fantastic manager. My dad enjoys the lovely cooked food, along with the daily
entertainment of singers, games, crafts, days out etc. Xmas day 2023 was a delight, so much effort went in by all the team to make it special and not one resident went without a gift from Santa. The residents visited otter nurseries on the lead up to Xmas and carried out so many decorations and Xmas arts/crafts to really get both the residents and staff alike into the Xmas spirit. The atmosphere on the big day really was quite emotional and I couldn't ask for a better place for my dad to be and can rest at night knowing he's in such fantastic hands. As a staff member told me 'we treat all our residents as if they are family' and honestly, it shows!

Well, where do I start? The care that has been given to my father has been absolutely exemplary. The care shown to me and my two sisters went above and beyond their remit and supported us all until the end. The staff spoke highly of Dad and nothing was too much trouble for them. All done with a smile.
One member of staff needs special mention. She put my father before her own family member who was very unwell at the time. She came back to the home to say her goodbyes and then went back to be with her family. Other members of staff stayed to be there for us even though they were not on shift. We felt very much part of a truly wonderful family. They all have a heart of gold and have been privileged to have met them despite under such circumstances.

My father-in-law has been on respite in Netherhayes. The home is superb. The staff are welcoming, supportive and so very caring. Their reassurance has helped so very much. The team are doing everything they can to make the stay bespoke for him. He is well looked after and he enjoys the food which is
varied and fresh. The activities are amazing. The visit from the wildlife centre was a particular hit.
