My mother in law was transferred from hospital to Netherhayes, for an initial period of short term respite. All my contact & communication wtih management and staff was professional, kind, respectful & helpful. This made a difficult transition very smooth & settling for both my mother in law and our
family. Everyone was accommodating making us feel so welcome. Thank you to everyone.

I find Adelaide Lodge a very friendly and caring place for my mother to stay at. Always something going on for my mother and other residents to take part in if they want to. If my mother has anything worrying with her medication, they will let me know straight away. I cannot fault the place.

We moved my father to Adelaide Lodge as it was near us. He had been in another care home 2 hours away. My sister and myself were concerned that he did not have much longer to live and I wanted to be more available. He was losing a lot of weight and never smiled. He has been in Adelaide for 4 months
now and all the staff have been wonderful with him. Our father is enjoying the home cooked food- the staff help him eat and he is much better. He smiles and laughs now! In addition the support to me and family is exceptional esp when he got ill. So glad we moved him!

My mum has been in the care of Adelaide Lodge for the past eighteen months . She has settled well . Her bedroom is equipped for her needs, and is also always very clean and tidy . There is regular entertainment which includes singers that mum enjoys to sing along with . The carers are warm and friendly
and have got to know mums likes and dislikes . I am kept informed on mums health and any issues there might be . Family can visit throughout the day .

My personal experience is for the time since my wife was admitted to Netherhayes care home and especially during this month of May 2025. I personally feel that all the care staff are very aware of my wifes needs and as such are very supportive of me. Whilst their main role is to look after my wife,
I am very conscious that they also include me, with all the activities within the home.

My husband has been a resident for just over a year. At that time, I feel he has been looked after and treated very well.
I find the staff very friendly to my husband and myself. I was very pleased to see and hear how many activities are arranged for residents and family and friends.

Very different standards at this care home compared to many others. Most of the carers are lovely and do genuinely have good connections to residents. My uncle was allowed to leave despite having DOLS and we had endless issues with the manager who was rude and regularly undermined her team. We would
have phone calls and she would then tell us the information we were given was wrong and that only she could say. There were many issues caused by this bizarre communication set up. Our final straw was when my uncle took an unsupervised fall late at night wandering around the grounds - despite having seen the doctor that morning as he wasn't feeling well. He has had weeks of pain and cannot fully recover from this injury that should never have happened. We placed him in Netherhayes so that he would be safe - we were so wrong.

Reply from Kay Smith, Kay Smith at Netherhayes

I am pleased that you found our carers to be lovely and to have a good connection with our residents. We disagree that our manager undermines her staff she goes above and beyond to support her staff. Recently we carried out an annual quality assurance questionnaire and 2 items covered are communication and management and no issues raised in these areas. Phone calls are recorded and we have investigated your claims of poor communication and can confirm that the manager was at no point rude and communication was good. To clarify we did not allow your Uncle to leave, we are not a secure unit but we do have every precaution in place to try and prevent a resident leaving, we have alarm mats & all doors are alarmed making the building secure and at the time of the incident the DOLS was in progress. With regards to the unsupervised fall during the evening, all security measures are in place to prevent a resident from falling as well as regular wellbeing checks which are monitored & reviewed.

I would like to pay a huge compliment to Magnolia House staff for all their kindness towards my mum when she moved in Mum was anxious and nervous she always wanted to be out and about with myself and my brother, however today she rang me to cancel our trip out tomorrow as she has decided to go out with
her friends in Magnolia, I never thought I would see this day but here it is so again I'd like to say a huge thank you to the manager and all the staff for making my mum so welcome and happy you are a great bunch.

I have been visiting our family member for a number of months and have been really pleased with the staff. It has been a difficult and emotional time but they have been supportive, helpful and extremely patient and respectful. They have understood the problems and have adapted and overcome any situation
that has arisen. It is lovely that this care home is managed with such commitment.
It is nice to see the improvements that are slowly being implemented new chairs etc and make for a more pleasant environment for residents and us visitors alike.

My wife is safe and well cared for. I could not provide at home the quality of life that she has at Sunningdale. The manager takes note and acts on suggestions of the loved ones of the residents e.g. visiting is now so flexible and convenient and fulfilling. Staff are always caring and kind to the residents.
The entertainment for residents is well organised and I appreciate being present at musical events at which my wife shines. My wife's room is small but I think she just uses it to sleep.

Netherhayes has a homely feel and the staff are varied and friendly. We visit my partner's dad very regularly and we are always greeted with a friendly smile. The care staff are very patient and kind to residents, even in very trying situations. The location is ideal - a short wheelchair push to the
seafront and the many cafes, so it's easy for us to take Dad out. We are very happy with the choice we made.

Dad has been in here for about five weeks. He has settled in ok, the staff are very attentive, there is a good selection of food although Dad has lost his appetite. He spends most of his time in the conservatory. Dad being in here has given me peace of mind.

The staff at Sunningdale House are always very friendly, helpful and nice whenever I call in or telephone. The home itself always seems immaculately clean and a very pleasant place to be. There is no offensive smell as I have experienced in other homes. In every way, I have been very pleasantly surprised
by Sunningdale House and their kind, patient treatment of my friend. They certainly go the extra mile.

My mother has been a resident at Netherhayes for just over seven years. Throughout this time the quality of care has never diminished and remains excellent to date. I’ve witnessed first-hand the team’s compassion, empathy, professionalism and great care towards my mother and indeed to all residents.
The standard of cleanliness throughout the home is high as is the attention to personal hygiene both for staff and residents. The meals are good quality and varied with residents choosing what suits their pallets. Activities range from crafts, armchair exercises and games, singing along with some of the musicians who visit regularly or going on outings, for example to the Donkey Sanctuary - a particular favourite of my mother’s. I’m welcomed warmly each time I visit and always get a call if there are any issues needing my attention. My mother often tells me how happy she is to be at Netherhayes and that’s all I need to hear!

My mother joined Netherhayes Care Home in June 2021. She has dementia and over the past 2.5 years, this has deteriorated. The level of care shown to my mum has never wavered. The care staff has a friendly outlook and respect for the residents they lovingly look after. My mum is very happy in the home
and has a lovely smile for all the staff, carers and management. She loves it when they interact with her. I feel this has been a happy time for her.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review. We are so pleased to hear that you are happy with the care that your mum receives and that she is happy here, our care staff always put the resident's happiness at the forefront of everything they do and treat everyone with the utmost respect, so it's so nice to know that it doesn't go unnoticed.
