View Full Details of EvergreensFinding a care home is always going to be difficult. Evergreens was recommended to us. Overall I am very satisfied with my father's care. There have been times when he actually seems to be enjoying being there, and the activities coordinator has really encouraged him to take part in activities. Sadly, he has 24-hour memory and most of the time doesn't know where he is or how long he has been there. I could be nitpicking, but I won't, as I appreciate you have a very difficult job to do.
My mother has been here for approx 2 yrs. Great service, wonderful staff. Have looked after my mum really well. She has a difficult time eating but the staff have amended their menu and now she has out on weight! Would highly recommend the establishment.
My brother Colin had been a resident at Evergreens Care Home for a year. He had been suffering from Parkinson's disease. He sadly passed away at the home on Friday, 3rd October 2025. Whilst at the home, he was looked after with the greatest care, attention and dignity. Nothing was ever a problem for the staff, however big or small, there for his every need. Food was always at a very good standard. Activities were very good for the residents, which kept them as active as possible. Basically, we felt it was like home from home. The treatment and compassion for people in their later years, some vulnerable and confused, are dealt with in a very professional and lovely manner.
I am very pleased with the care my husband received whilst at Everygreens. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent and well prepared. The only minus was that the laundry tended to go missing, but it was located once the mistake had been pointed out. Overall, a very pleasant experience.
How lucky my husband is to be in the most beautiful care home! From the manager, nursing staff, carers, chefs, etc. The residents are so well looked after, and they are all one big family together. The food is excellent. Every day after lunch, they gather in the lounge, where a lovely lady organises all kinds of activities to participate from quizzes, Pilates, exercise, puzzles, bingo, etc. Guests are welcome anytime, and I always feel welcomed and participate too. Love the place!!
From the initial meeting to day one when my father in law went into Evergreens's from a ten week stay in hospital he was made very welcome as were all the family, my father in law put on weight and was very happy and well cared for by all the staff at evergreens and nothing was too much trouble. He enjoyed the food and the entertainment and as a family we felt happy and content knowing that he was getting 24 hour care. As a family we were made very welcome as was his wife who visited everyday and often stayed for lunch. The staff went above and beyond to celebrate special milestones that we celebrated as a family. We cannot thank the staff who were not only there for my father in law in his final days but also for the support we were given as a family. The lounge and conservatory has a homely feel to it perfect for visits, there is also a lovely space outside. His room was decorated tastefully and you can take along your own personal possessions to make your loved ones feel at home.
To anyone looking for a care home for a relative take a look at Evergreens. This really is a home from home environment. My mum lived at Evergreens for the final four and a half years of her life. She was very happy and adored the staff as much as they adored her. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they were caring, attentive and knowledgeable. Their compassion especially during mums final week was immeasurable. It was clear to see with the tears just how much they loved and cared not only about our mum, but also about us. We chose for our mum not to be admitted to hospital for that final week and believe it was the best decision we made. She died a very peaceful, dignified death all thanks to these wonderful people from Evergreens and GP surgery. We will never forget them and will keep in touch. Thank you.
Mum has been at the Evergreens for over a year now. At first we had a few teething problems, but this year ,(2025) the care home changed ownership and things have changed for the better. The Evergreens is a home from home care home. Your family member can decorate their room as they please to make them feel comfortable. The new manager and assistant manager are very easy to talk to and always willing to listen and help where they can. The building is old but the new owner is making changes to bring everything up to date. The Evergreens has a lovely garden with a large fish pond. It has a grassed seating area and a patio area too where the residents can sit and relax when the sun is out.
From the first phone conversation I was impressed with the genuine warmth and willingness to support my mother's care needs. I was given a tour of the home by a wonderful senior member of staff who had so much enthusiasm and knowledge and went the extra mile and she was able to follow up my enquire on the same day for my mothers respite care. A home visit assessment was conducted who was both sensitive and reassuring and also very professional. My mother has comment on how welcome she feels by all the lovely staff she has met.
The Evergreens have been nothing short of magnificent. I have given an excellent rating for everything because there is nothing I could find fault with. During my mum's stay this year and until her death they adapted to all her changed medical needs, and unlike when she lived in the community they would be able to access GPs or other professionals immediately when they were concerned. She was in safe hands mum was checked on and talked to not only in response to needs, they loved her and she loved them. During her final weeks, she was truly content as all her needs were met with smiles, compassion, care and love. I will simply never forget them, and had she been there longer, and I was able to make relationships with the other residents, I know I would be visiting them as an excuse to see the lovely team there who I will miss terribly.
Our mum has been so happy and well cared for here. We are secure in knowledgeable she is in safe and caring hands. Staff are fantastic and always happy to talk about mum's week, health and anything else.
The room is lovely with freedom to personalise. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and engaged. These can be overused words but when someone you love can no longer be independent, to leave them in a clean friendly caring environment is such a blessing.
My sister is a resident at the Evergreens because of memory recall issues which means she is unable to live independently and care for herself. However, she still has mental capacity and a strong personality requiring patience, understanding and empathy from her carers. My observations when visiting the care home are of a well-run, happy and caring establishment with friendly, caring and conscientious staff who treat the residents with dignity and respect. Staff are very friendly, patient, caring and helpful in looking after my sister. She has a nice room, likes the food and is very happy there. She is encouraged to participate in activities and enjoyed her recent birthday celebration organised by staff. I am also impressed by the efficient way staff liaise with other agencies and providers contributing to her care and wellbeing such as hairdressing, podiatry and medical services such as the local GP and Dental services etc., proactively monitoring her medical needs and issues.
My wife moved into the home in September 2023 and is happy and content there. I had previously visited the home and the owner showed me around the premises. I was very impressed with the standard of care on offer and the quality and decor of the premises. I used to work for the NHS and for 7 years I was part of the nursing home inspection team at an Acute Care Trust, visiting all homes twice yearly. Evergreens is the best home I have ever visited. The care policy at the home is 'Resident Led'. This is great but has presented some challenges. The carers have been trained, however, in such a way that they lovingly and gently resolve matters without any upsets. The residents are entertained by an animateur who engages them in crafts, games, exercises &c. Entertainers also visit the home and a local church holds a service monthly. Visitors are welcome at any time, there are no restrictions. All our family are delighted with care my wife continues to receive at Evergreens. Congratulations!
My Dad wasn't too thrilled at the prospect of going into a care home and initially we 'sold' it to him that it would be for a short period of respite care following a 4-month stay in hospital. He has now been a resident at Evergreens for just over 2 years now and his care is excellent with an extremely low turnover of staff which I think is reassuring for the residents. The staff are amazing, treat all the residents with care and respect and are always so welcoming and friendly. The Evergreens comes across as a very happy home. Sadly Dad is not very mobile now and his dementia is getting worse but they do their best to encourage him to join in the many activities arranged on a daily basis. The food always looks healthy, varied and appetising and on the few occasions I've been visiting whilst he has lunch he definitely enjoys it. His room is nicely decorated (with added touches from home) and is always clean and tidy. His laundry is done on a regular basis along with his bedding.
My father recently moved to the Evergreens but already feels as if he has been there forever! He feels 'at home', settled and content. He is treated with respect and dignity by all members of staff, a team of consistently friendly, caring professionals. They are led by strong management who encourage both residents and family members to see the Evergreens as home. We do! My father loves his room, the delicious food and the excellent staff. I am given the same warm welcome every time I visit. I am so grateful that my father is living in such a loving home, that what the Evergreens aspires to achieve, that residents feel at home, is exactly what is achieved. My father absolutely feels at home!
My mother-in-law has now been a resident of Evergreens for nearly two years, and in that time, she has been welcomed and treated with respect and dignity by the care manager and his dedicated team. Despite her dementia deteriorating over the last few months, she is always encouraged to join in with the daily entertainment and events provided, but the staff respect her wishes when she decides not to participate to enjoy her own company. Her room is light and airy and is always clean and tidy and well-maintained. The bedding is changed often, and her laundry is washed, dried and replaced in her room. The food menu is of good quality, varied according to her diet, prepared and well presented in the on-site kitchen. Although it is disturbing to see her health deteriorating over the last few months, the staff are very friendly, caring and very supportive not only to her but also to us as a family. It is extremely reassuring to know that she is safe and secure and is receiving the care she now needs.
Mum was originally reluctant to go into a care home and we worried how she would cope. We needn't have done. The staff at Evergreens made her feel at home from the start. She received excellent care from friendly, attentive staff. Her room and the premises were always very clean and she was always well-turned out. She loved the entertainment provided and the trips out. We counted our blessings that we were able to find such a place for her.
Mum had been a resident at Evergreens for over two years, she was happy comfortable and well-fed there, the food was excellent from having stayed for lunch several times, and the food was always home-cooked and delicious. Mum's room was kept clean at all times including her bathroom. The staff were always pleasant informative and friendly and also offered tea to me when I visited which was very nice considering the workload. I was always kept well informed if Mum was taking any medicine or needed medical care as she was very dependent on the care later in her stay. Overall and nice friendly place for Mum's last home when she could no longer look after herself. Thank you to all of the staff at Evergreens.
My mum has been at Evergreens for a year now. Firstly, she feels safe and secondly, her health has improved since her arrival. But it is the staff I want to thank, every member is kind, caring and wants to help. They make me and my three sisters always welcome. Thank you all - it is a tough job which you all do effortlessly and with real empathy.
