View Full Details of The Laurels & Pine LodgeThere's always a full programme of events for the residents - family fun days, bus trips and musical entertainment. I attended the family day in August and it is easy to see how my relative enjoys sitting and watching what is going on, it provides social interaction and something to talk about. The home is also keen to encourage family members to participate - the recent relatives' meeting was an opportunity for the home to lay out it's plans for the short (and longer) term, and for relatives to ask questions. All rounded off with a fun quiz. Though the staff put in a lot of work for these events, my siblings and I see them also putting the same effort in for the more mundane activities and tasks (this includes the housekeeping and catering staff who seem to know the names of all the residents). We feel we made the right decision when choosing The Laurels.
We attended a family day last week. It's unfair to single people out because SO much effort was put in by so many people, but their team put in an incredible amount of work (I witnessed it from early that morning) preparing for the afternoon of fun. I sat in a group of five residents three of whom had family with them. We had a brilliant afternoon, happy, cared for and stimulated. With this level of care and love, I am not surprised that my relative has improved beyond recognition since arriving at this home six months ago. By the way, it's difficult to pay tribute to people just by using their initials!
Outdoor event hosted by a member of staff with drinks in the sunshine and had a fun and great time.
Over and beyond our expectations, it was wonderful. We both had a lovely time. The thought and care that was taken meant so much through this very difficult time. We were made to feel very special. Thank you so very much.
The staff are very kind and caring, and do everything they can to keep people happy through a wide range of activities. I have visited over 3 years and the high standards have never slipped. They retain their staff so you always see a friendly face, who is able to give continuity of care.
All the team at Laurels & Pine Lodge have made Mum really comfortable and included. She settled in straight away and made a choice to stay on after her initial 2 week respite which was so good as as a family we were concerned for her safety alone at home. Thank you to all the staff for making her so welcome and for all that you do, she has gone back to how she was 2 or 3 years ago.
On Sunday the 30th of March we came to the Laurels and pine to attend their mother's day event. The whole evening was lovely the food was really nice and the atmosphere made us feel like part of a family. My son came with us and he was treated with such love and respect it was just such an amazing evening as all events have been. So impressed and I think the team always go above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
Mum has lived here for 2.5 years. I now feel part of a family. We all laugh together. I have complete trust in their top quality care and love for my mum.
I have generally found the staff and leadership to be helpful and caring towards residents. Also the staff I have met have been helpful. As a family member, it is really important to know that Dad is being well looked after. Thank you for your good work. It would be helpful to find a solution to losing items of laundry - e.g. if you can recommend suitable ways to label.
Always look forward to visiting mum as I care for a brain injured husband so its enlightenment for me. The residents make me laugh with the things they say, they are all so happy without a care in the world. They are all so well looked after and loved by the staff who I find work really hard and put the residents needs first. I couldn't wish mum to be in a better residential home. Thank you all.
A lovely welcoming care home. The staff are friendly yet professional. Lots of activities with photos online. Our relative is very happy here. The chef also makes lovely cakes on their birthdays and the catering is excellent.
Activities are very well organised and advertised on social media. The chef does a wonderful job, and it is lovely to see photos of the celebration birthday cakes.
Whenever I visit, the staff always know where my mother is and what she is doing. I'm very happy with the care and attention she receives. Full marks to the entertainments staff who, in addition to organising events, spend a lot of time just interacting with residents. Management staff are approachable and always prepared to assist with inquiries.
My mother-in-law has been in this rest home for nearly 9 weeks and my husband and I are delighted with the care and attention she is receiving. After the initial 8-week respite period we didn't even bother looking at other homes, why would we? The food is excellent and a really good variety and the level of care is a really high standard. My mother-in-law now always looks clean and tidy. She is warm and safe, thanks to the friendliness and hard work of the carers. The manager is always approachable and accessible.
When visiting my mother, she is always happy and does not stop telling us how lovely her meals are. The care home is clean and tidy, and there are a lot of activities laid on for the residents. The staff are always polite and friendly.
Amazing care home. They take extremely good care of my grandmother. They do regular events and activities, and most of the time, they get all the family involved. My grandmother is extremely happy here, and when we come to visit, we are warmly welcomed and made to feel comfortable. The food is delicious, and there is always a variety for the residents. Overall experience is 10/10.
Often come around dinner time due to work commitments. The food always looks healthy and appetising. Staff always ask residents what they would like from a great choice. They treat them with respect, however, can be overwhelming with the noise/seating arrangements. I also feel at the end of the day when I visit the smell of urine can be strong, if I have the opportunity to visit early in the day this does not happen.
Lovely homely care home where I feel the carers all know my mum. The food always looks wholesome and plenty of it. The only thing I feel at the moment is that the home is feeling really full and at dinner time there doesn't always seem space for everyone. Overall though I can't commend the home high enough when I know my mum is very happy.
Positives: Nice family-friendly atmosphere and the staff are welcoming and friendly, despite the difficulties of the job. Residents are encouraged to join in with the activities. The food is varied and excellent and all individual tastes are catered for. There is only one negative in that repairs to the room can take a long time. The remote for the TV doesn't work and we haven't had this replaced. Sometimes a lack of staff - but think that's a nationwide problem. But I would recommend this care home to others.
Grandad seems very happy at The Pines, in better-than-anticipated and feeling well at home. It's heartwarming to see the carers getting him involved in activities, even though I know he can be stubborn and still be able to see his lovely smile on social media. I feel he will be happy and settled here until the end of his life.
