View Full Details of Hazelwell LodgeMy mum has been a resident at Hazelwell for 6 months now. She found the transition very difficult and needed a lot of support and the staff were nothing but kind and compassionate with her. We've been able to visit her at any time of night or day, without issue. As a family we are secure in the knowledge that in her twilight years our mum is well cared for and surrounded by nothing but kindness, compassion and support.
My Father has been a resident at Hazelwell for approximately six months. At first my brothers and I were quite concerned about how Dad would settle in and how well he would be cared for. I can honestly say, we had nothing to worry about, as he settled in and was made to feel at home immediately, and has all the care and attention he could possibly need. We visit our father every few weeks and Dad is always very content, clean, well fed and has built great rapport with the care staff. We could not be happier with Hazelwell and all the staff.
Excellent - In all respects.
My grandmother has been a resident at Hazelwell Lodge for several years and I couldn't be happier that she is cared for here. I go and visit her every few months when I'm in the area and she is always clean, content and well cared for. The staff are very kind, caring and professional, even when dealing with very challenging residents and everyone is afforded great dignity and respect. The rooms are clean and there are lots of activities put on to keep residents engaged and entertained. My latest visits were around Christmas, and the decorations were simply beautiful. A big thank you to the staff for their exceptional hard work and the care and kindness they show to my grandmother.
I am very happy that my wife is a resident at Hazelwell Lodge. She has had several issues since taking up residence all of which have been dealt with with care and compassion. My wife can be very difficult at times but I have never seen anything but kindness by the staff towards her. I also receive nothing but kindness and am always made to feel welcome.
My father-in-law was staying here for a year before he sadly passed away very recently. The care he recieved was of a very high standard. He really didn't want to go into a home but after just a few weeks he felt right at home. The staff are very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Various activities meant there was something for everybody. We initially had a few issues with food as he was gluten-free and also on a soft food diet. But this was sorted very quickly and the staff spoke to us in depth about his dietary needs. Can't thank them enough for everything they did for him.
Hugely impressed with Hazelwell Lodge. The staff consistently offer a supportive and genuinely caring environment. My mother, whose needs are complex and include Alzheimer's, has been at Hazelwell for some time now and is completely comfortable and secure. 5 stars.
Excellent.
From the moment Dad entered the home his needs have been met. Everyone is so caring, kind, considerate and helpful. Putting Dad's wants/needs is very much the home's ethos. Despite Dad's challenges, especially his behaviour they have never complained, just continued to support him. There is a brilliant programme of events and activities, tailored to everyone’s abilities. His room is well appointed with everything he needs and the whole home is bright, welcoming and still retains a homeliness. I would highly recommend Hazelwell to anyone looking for a care home for their loved one with dementia. They are the epitome of the word ‘care’.
My wife was in Hazelwell Lodge for six months in that time the staff treated and looked after my wife was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
My mum went to live at Hazelwell Lodge in November 2022 due to her dementia. Not an easy decision for me but her transition was seamless due to the professionalism of the staff. I have always found the staff to be caring and attentive to all aspects of Mum's well-being and are very approachable. Sadly, Mum passed away at the beginning of April 2023. Her care and comfort were very well managed by the staff.
Staff are excellent in their understanding, compassion and care of my uncle's needs. He was happy and settled under their care for the first five years he was at Hazelwell Lodge.
All the staff are wonderful, they are so attentive and caring. Nothing is too much trouble. My mum is quite negative but they constantly try and cheer her up. She enjoyed her trip out to the pub recently! The food is amazing with different choices. The Sunday roast looked amazing. Mum enjoys the jacuzzi bubble bath here regularly. Many thanks to all the wonderful hardworking staff.
Mum went into the home 2 weeks before the 1st lockdown and we as a family were very worried how mum would cope, but the home ensured we had face time whenever we wanted to see and speak to mum this was so so good for us as well as mum. We were concerned that the home was not that local to us but we should never have been as we have found that everyone at the home is one big family we couldn't of asked for better care and mum is very happy which is all we can ask for.
My dad was a resident at Hazelwell Lodge from January – February 2022. He had two wounds develop in this time which were completely ill-managed and ended in an emergency hospital stay for iv antibiotics and sepsis which was completely missed and I had to chase. During this time I was sent invoices besides not having a contract. The care home just seems far too big. Too many staff moving around with not enough knowledge/consistency to be able to understand and observe the individuals. I found out from the care notes I requested that the home also had scabies but had not told me, besides me taking my 12-month-old daughter into visit. It was noted that the district nurse had told them they should tell me. I also saw that my dad had accidentally locked himself in a bathroom, in a home of 50 people they struggle to find lost people and then could not find a key to open the door. Some individual staff members were lovely but they seemed to be let down from those above.
I find this to be a very comfortable home. It is clean and the staff are friendly and attentive to my mother. They always make me welcome when I visit.
This home is lovely. The staff are amazing.
My mother was admitted to Hazelwell Lodge in May 2016 with advanced Dementia. Sadly she passed away in March 2017. However, throughout her stay, we found all aspects of Hazelwell excellent. The cleanliness of all areas, especially bathrooms, bedrooms etc... Huge selection of entertainment and trips for residents. The overwhelming feeling that the staff were treating my mother as a member of their own family, this gave me huge reassurances during her stay.
My mum moved into Hazelwell Lodge with extreme dementia and was also very unwell. All of the staff, management and owner were amazing. The care was definitely to the highest standard. Everyone was very kind, caring, sympathetic, knowledgeable and efficient no matter what their role. We changed mums room around, put up lots of photos etc (with help from the handyman) and made it her own, this was welcomed. We were there all day, every day and this was welcomed too and because of this, we got to know the staff, management and residents really well. Sadly mum was so poorly, she was put on an end of life plan, again this was dealt with to the highest level. When mum passed away, the night staff were there with us and ensured that every need was met with support and sympathy. Hazelwell treats residents as individuals. They recognise that this is their home and that different things make different people happy. Residents all receive the utmost respect and care and we are so grateful to everyone there.
Care and support at Hazelwell Lodge to my mum and family was excellent. All staff at all times were helpful, friendly, caring. Outstanding care all round.
