View Full Details of The CedarsMy Mother, was at the Cedars Care Home Purton for just over 2 years. During this time, she thoroughly enjoyed being there. All the staff were friendly and considerate towards her, and she formed a special bond with some of them. There was always something going on, from monkeys, parrots and even small ponies visiting to keep her interested and stimulated. The staff not only cared for my Mother, but also ensured we were coping as a family. Sadly my Mother passed away in May, just 12 days short of her 104th birthday. During her final few hours, the staff were outstanding with the care and dignity shown not only to her but us as a family during this difficult time. They are an outstanding team at the Cedars Purton for which I am forever grateful.
I find the carers very caring and professional even when dealing with sometimes troublesome residents and the people in charge run the care home very well ,all the staff seem happy in their work .its very clean and the food is good and appetizing. Every one at the cedars is very friendly to relatives too ,nothing too much trouble.
This home is caring for my wife who is 87 years old and has dementia. She has been resident in the home for approximately 1 year, she has been treated very well by all the care home staff more as a relation they have a enthalpy towards all there residence where nothing is too much trouble. My wife has responded very well to there care and attention enjoying and being involved in all the activities from singing along to the 60 music to dancing plus all the other activities the carers involve her in. She likes being at the home and being involved in the activities. The hygiene and house keeping is very good as is the furniture . My wife looks always well dressed in clean laundered cloths, clean with her clean hair neatly brushed, her room is neat and tidy with the bed always made floors clean. The photograph of the family are displayed on her dressing table. Her medicines are administered as directed by the doctor instructions, any accident or happening is relayed directly to the family
My very frail 96-year-old mum became a resident of The Cedars on January 8th, 2025. Initially, she was a little worried about what to expect, but within a very short period of time, she had been settled into her lovely, cosy, warm room and made to feel very welcome. Three weeks on and she's thriving - the entire team could not be any kinder or more attentive. Nothing is too much trouble; the food is good and plentiful, cups of tea, coffee, snacks, and biscuits morning, afternoon, and evening. The facilities are excellent - she particularly loves the huge bathtub into which she can be raised and lowered. All in all an outstanding facility, very well run and managed by truly wonderful, caring professionals.
Since Mum has been at The Cedars, everyone has been marvellous and helpful, welcoming, chatty, interested and warm. Mum has improved memory (not much).
Staff always attentive. Food sometimes seems a bit 'samey'.
My dad has been a resident at The Cedars since November 2022. The care and love shown to him during this time is exceptional. This is our first experience of elderly care and the package delivered by the team is excellent given the financial parameters they have to work within. The financial impact of delivering such care is obviously very high, however a refresh/refurb to public areas and rooms alike should be made a priority for staff and residents. To finish, the love and care provided by The Cedars is superb.
Dad has been cared for with dignity and kindness. Staff members are always friendly, and The Cedars feels like one big family. It's lovely that so many activities and entertainment are provided for the residents. I am so glad Daad is being looked after so well. It has taken a lot of worry out of a very difficult time for us as a family. Thank you.
Since Mum moved into The Cedars, she has been looked after 24/7. All the staff are lovely, nothing is too much trouble, would recommend 100%. Mum is very happy living at The Cedars.
My father had to move in here after a hospital stay and I could no longer look after him. There were teething problems but everyone was so helpful and transparent that these were soon sorted out. It was a tough decision I had to make but I have never regretted my choice of home for my dad. He has always been a fussy eater but staff went above and beyond to sort food he would eat and enjoy. He passed away in August at the home and as a family, we were supported throughout and this still continues. I cannot praise their compassion and professionalism enough.
First-class care and service. Excellent staff, always very helpful, kind and happy.
Choosing to move Mum into a care home last year was the hardest decision I’ve had to make, she’s been with The Cedars Care Home almost a year and although she didn’t settle straight away, staff were excellent in helping her feel comfortable and safe, they were understanding of my feelings too, if I had a query carers would reassure and update me how Mum was getting on. All the carers are friendly and approachable and always available if you need help, admin staff are great, emails are always responded to and queries answered, laundry staff work hard to keep Mum's clothes clean and kitchen staff are friendly and Mum enjoys her choice of food. Whenever I’m there, no matter what time of day, residents are always being looked after with refreshments and biscuits. The activities are well-organised and Mum is encouraged to join in but never pressured. All in all, The Cedars is a friendly, secure and caring place to be, I’m happy to say Mum has now settled and happy in her new home which is a big relief.
The Cedars Care Home have a very kind, caring and delightful team who could not be more caring or more friendly to my mother-in-law who is in the home for respite, which may lead to a permanent stay. They live the motto of St John - in the service of humanity. Many thanks.
My mother was a resident at The Cedars from August 2021 until her death in December 2022, at the home. As a family, we found her care and understanding of her needs were excellent. From her blue-painted nails to her demanding behaviour, she was treated with kindness, respect and fun. Many thanks to all staff involved in her care.
I am so glad to be able to give my honest opinion on this care home, my husband is there. The first time I viewed this care home for my husband, where he would be happiest and made at home, this care home came across as the best home for warmth and a friendly atmosphere. Very caring staff, excellent food and entertainment organised well. The new manager has come across as helpful and easy to talk to. During the time my husband has been in care I have only missed two days out of six months, I have time to notice the kindness of staff. A very demanding job, as every resident has different needs. My husband tells me he is very happy there, which means a lot to me.
The Cedars have welcomed my mum, who is 99 years old. Moving your parent into a care home is very stressful, however, all staff have been so caring and have been so supportive in making my mum feel settled. We are very impressed with the activities and community feel that The Cedars offers. All staff are keen to help with any questions and show kindness and compassion, treating all residents with respect and dignity.
Staff are good but need more help from head office. Management and The Orders of St John Care Trust need to stop wasting money. Senior management head office should have more dealings with families and friends of residents like meetings etc. and take note of what they say. More money should be spent on activities etc. The staff are good at caring etc if only the head office management were as good at theirs.
Very kind, very helpful, always ready to answer my questions. Just one thing I would like my husband to have an ensuite room, not any available at the moment. Promised we will get one when available. My husband is bowel incontinent so this would help everyone.
Staff are always friendly and attentive. Communication is excellent. Thanks.
I have been visiting my sister here for several years (up to five). I have been impressed by the care of the staff. They are always welcoming and friendly. My sister is very happy and has plenty of freedom in a safe environment. I like the fact that there is provision for privacy, if required. The routine is not rigid and there is scope for individual choice of food etc. The cleanliness is absolutely first class. There cannot be a better place than the Cedars. Thank you.
