View Full Details of Godiva LodgeEvery member of staff I speak to is friendly, they do not appear under any stress or pressure, they are all very relaxed and good and happy. If I succumb to dementia in the future I would be more than happy if I was here in Godiva Lodge . It holds a special place in my heart. Once again I can't stress enough how good the staff are , they treat my father in law with respect, kindness and dignity .
I know my Dad is safe and well looked after, staff are friendly and caring. Easy to talk to.
My brother in law was admitted to Godiva Lodge during his stay there were a number of issues. 1. Poor communication - there were incidents that were not reported to us. His wife had called (by phone) to speak with the manager on a number of occasions and call back never happened. 2. My sister in law had to shower her husband on at least 2 occasions as he was unshaved and smelt. 3. He had infected cellulitis which resulted in a hospital admission (poorly managed). 4. He lost weight but there was no discussion regarding this. 5. Often when we visited he was wandering aimlessly and distressed. When we meet with the mental health nurse and a team leader the information required to discuss issues related to his behaviour was poorly recorded and the incident could not be adequately explained. 6. He was admitted to hospital, the hospital said he would be discharged and the home refused to have him back. We appreciate that this may not have been a suitable placement, however, there was no communication from the manager to inform the family of the next process. 7. We were told his bed would be held for 6 weeks while he was reassessed, this was not the case - the service did not contact the family to say his personal effects were being removed from the room. We are disappointed and this caused severe distress that could have been avoided.
My mother was well cared for in a friendly and caring environment. Staff were always very helpful and approachable. Mum was at Godiva Lodge for 3 years and she was settled and content. Her mobility improved enormously because she was encouraged to mobilise. I will miss visiting the home and seeing the staff.
My husband had a weeks stay to enable me to have respite from being his full time carer. He was extremely well cared for and staff remembered him from a previous stay last year. His dietary needs were well met and when I visited he was very content. I was made to feel welcome and staff were very respectful and caring towards residents and visitors.
My nan moved into Godvia Lodge on 15/01/25. So far it seems like a really lovely and friendly home. Although she had a rocky start settling in, she seems to be a lot happier in herself and loves the food. The staff are all so friendly and treat nan with dignity and care.
All staff and management are extremely friendly and engaging with my mum. The team understand that she likes to do things to keep her occupied. I can raise any concerns I have and action is taken. The home is cleaned and maintained well. The staff have fun with my mum and make her laugh, which is very important. Catering team also try and please my mum with her food choices.
I looked at several care homes in my area for my dear friend who has Alzheimer's and wasn't able to stay safe at home. Anchor Care Home proved to be the nicest in many ways. It has a very homely feel and all the staff are attentive and friendly. The four resident lounges are designed to a similar layout In most private homes. En-suite bedrooms are clean and comfortable. My friend is settled and happy in her new home.
Over the last year or so Godiva Lodge has provided my husband with a secure home. Dementia is so cruel. When your loved one has dementia continuing with life for both of you can be so hard. Knowing what to do for the best, for them and yourself is very difficult. Staff at Godiva have helped so much with the necessary adaption. I know he is being looked after by specialists, in a kind, loving way. Staff at Godiva are always at hand to make visitors feel part of the Godiva family. If asked, they will talk about the resident. The atmosphere is pleasant, and various acts of kindness take place regularly The Home is clean: no unpleasant smells prevail. Food is excellent. Well balanced thought-out menus. (No excessive salt or additives). Residents can add these themselves if they request to do so. Godiva Lodge is a Care Home which exceeds expectations.
Mom feels she is at home. The staff are so caring and have become her friends. She is very settled here. She is treated with respect and consideration to her likes and dislikes. Thank you to all who care for her.
I can't express how happy I am that my mum is now in a safe environment with staff to care for her 24/7. Each visit to the home to see my mum staff are so welcoming and go above and beyond to assist in any issues or queries I have had. Mum has settled in well and this is due to the management and all the staff across all departments making her feel like it's her home and encouraging her to join in activities, along with ensuring she was in a room next to another resident that is at the same stage of mums journey through dementia. All the above has given me peace of mind that Mum is in the right home for her needs.
Lovely staff and beautiful care home, 100%.
The staff here are wonderful.
At a difficult time of life, my mother is treated with kindness, love and dignity. Thank you to all the staff and management.
Dad moved into Godiva Lodge at Easter 2023 and this Christmas week we visited him for a few days over from Germany where we live. The last time I had managed to get over was August, and it was very clear that all the team at Godiva had been making great progress in making everyone’s experience, guests and visitors and also the rest of their teammates alike a really fulfilling experience. The place is always tidy, visitors are always made welcome and this December it was noticeably well staffed with lots of evidence of positive improvements: - The use of the main room, the fresh decorations in the different day rooms, and all the facilities open for use. It’s the bright, friendly and caring staff that make the difference, you really get the sense of professionalism around the place. My Dad has really settled in and I truly believe all the team at Godiva Lodge are helping to make this a dignified and happy time for him and the rest of our family. Many thanks to you all.
This home is great! My 95-year-old mum never wanted to go into a care home so I was really anxious when she became so muddled and wobbly that she needed 24-hour care. But she loves it at Godiva Lodge! The staff are compassionate, friendly and caring, the en suite rooms are clean, practical and welcoming, the food is healthy and tasty and the new decor looks like a five-star hotel. It's modern, warm and spacious, all on the ground floor. She is enjoying socialising and made friends right away. You can park for free on-site when visiting, you're allowed to decorate and fix up their rooms how you like, there are cool little name tags for the laundry and the management seem very professional and always available to answer queries. It's also reassuring to know that she won't have to move on as her dementia progresses. Thank you Godiva Lodge you are all stars!
This home and it's caring staff are exceptional, not only do they care for my husband but they are always there for me, they listen and will always give a hug. All residents are always clean and look cared for, their mood swings and general health are always attended to. Residents rooms are always clean and tidy and bed linen and resident's clothes are changed daily. Everyone is listened to.
My experience of Godiva Lodge has always been very good, from the day my mum moved in she has been looked after with great care. Every member of staff has helped my mum with all her needs, they are very professional and very thoughtful. My mum was 90 in October and they made her day very special with us being able to bring in family for tea and cake, my mum loved it. Thank you.
I would like to say that the staff at the home go above and beyond for the residents of Godiva Lodge. For example, it was recently my mum's 90th birthday and they arranged a lovely lunch which, under the circumstances of my mum's health, made it a very special day.
My mum has been at Godiva Lodge since December 2021, initially on respite care and then was made permanent, which was such a relief as it was my preferred choice of care home due to my aunt having previously been cared for here too. The care given is just amazing and all the staff are just brilliant - they soon got to know my mum, her ways and personality and helped to adapt to her care needs very quickly. It has a family feel to it, with nothing being too much trouble for the staff to help Mum with. Recently they put on a party for her birthday and she loved it, all the fuss made and a fabulous buffet spread too, she had a lovely day thanks to the staff at Godiva. They all go above and beyond for my mum, I feel, from taking her to the pub to play her favourite darts game, to buying her a vape to try and encourage fewer cigarettes and even buying her a chippy tea when she hadn't fancied eating at tea time. I could never thank the staff enough. My mum is safe and cared for well.
