View full details of Ashbourne Care HomeAuntie moved into Ashbourne some weeks ago now and has settled well. She is safe and well looked after. The carers are very friendly and supportive, and encourage her to get involved in activities.
Husband has been here since end June in the dementia unit, he has settled really well. All the carers are so friendly and helpful and I can see how comfortable he is with them all, and how patient and loving they are with him. I feel very stressed putting him into care, but I feel happier now knowing he is being well cared for.
From the moment you walk into Ashbourne Care Home, you are made to feel welcome. The staff are amazing and will always answer any questions to the best of their knowledge. The different since my son's father-in-law since arriving there has veen also amazing. All the staff do a wonderful job to make sure all residents are cared for properly. The activities offered are 10/10. Thank you to everyone.
My friend has been here 9 weeks and I must say she has been well looked after, she is better in herself and enjoying having company of others around her. She loves having her hair and nails done, likes the food , and is really happy here.
When visiting my mom around 9:30, it appeared that she was still in bed, which was unusual for her. She had recently suffered a chest infection and had finished her course of antibiotics. So I was slightly concerned. I needn't have been because when I went to wake her, she got up as fresh as a daisy and walked up to the day room with me, where staff were quick to serve her fresh tea and a bowl of porridge, which she ate all of. The staff explained she had walked a lot the day before, hence why she was tired and obviously, I know myself how demanding that can be for staff. I know my mom is happy, and that makes me happy.
Mom has been living in Ashbourne Care Home for nearly 4 weeks now. After a very difficult 9 months trying to manage her at home, with dementia, we had to make the difficult decision for a permanent placement. The staff at Ashbourne have enabled this transition to be a lot easier than we expected. From the initial assessment to the first day taking her in, we have felt welcomed into the home by all members of staff. Mom has spent 5 weeks in another care facility this year, but has settled in more quickly at Ashbourne. So far, all members of staff have been found to be very caring, kind and attentive to her needs. We feel reassured that Mom is cared for and loved in her new home. Thank you, Ashbourne.
I honestly don't have any words for how bad this care home is. The personal care of the residents is non existent. My nan has severe fungal nail infection since moving here and after numerous attempts to get them to get a doctor to prescribe something nothing has been done. She has also lost a front tooth even though we have been requesting a dentist visit her for around 18 months. Simple things like rice pudding, cheese and crackers, olives, marmite are not provided, we have to take them in for her and even when we do they are not offered to her and she forgets she has them so they end up being thrown away. The activities are minimal so they are left to sit in their chairs doing nothing for a large portion of the day. Residents are taken to bed at around 6.30pm even when they don't want to go. No trips are ever planned and lockdown still exists here when they have cases of D&V even if residents don't show meaning they are made to stay in their rooms alone with no visitors. Disgusting!
The staff are very friendly and approachable. I am aware that mom is difficult but I do get concerned about the lack of personal care at times especially the incontinence and mom gets very sore. Her room is a lovely size with a nice view, it could do with a lick of paint, and I also feel in recent months the cleanliness has deteriorated due to low staff levels (domestic). Mom does seem settled though which I am very grateful for.
My dad lived at Ashbourne for some time, and sadly, our experience was disappointing. We often had to chase up basic care, and ongoing medical issues weren't handled as we expected. He was frequently moved around the sitting room, which deeply unsettled him, especially as he was blind and living with dementia. Familiarity and routine were essential for his wellbeing, but weren't prioritised at all. His room was sometimes left uncleaned for long periods, and hygiene standards fell short of what we felt was acceptable. Although some staff were kind, and Dad really liked the guy who did activities, overall care felt inconsistent. We eventually moved Dad to another home where he now receives more stable, personalised care. He's much happier, healthier, and better supported. We hope this review is taken as constructive feedback and leads to positive changes for those still living at the home.
Once again I'd like to give a big thank you to the home manager and all the staff at Ashbourne. I've recently been in hospital but had no worries over Mom. The home manager personally video-called me, as did other staff, so I could see Mom whilst I was poorly. Mom looks well cared for and they support me so much. I can't thank them enough for looking after my Mom, the home manager makes my life easier, she's such a caring person. Please pass on my comments to the owners. I was so proud to see the awards for Ashbourne.
My mother has recently moved to Ashbourne Care Home following a hospital admission, she was unable to return home. All staff and management at Ashbourne have made the transition as easy as possible, they have been very patient and caring towards mum, even though her dementia can be quite challenging at times. After 3 days she already seems to be settling in and is beginning to interact with the staff. It is all beginning to look more positive for mum after a long, difficult period so thanks to all at Ashbourne so far.
The staff at this home are dedicated, knowledgeable and really friendly. They see to all requests, updated + any relevant information quickly. They always inform me of anything to do with my dad healthwise, being taken into hospital, falls etc. I respect the team at Ashbourne and on the whole I believe they have an effective team the co-ordinates well.
The whole facility is extremely well-run, the staff are fabulous and even the residents are welcoming. This place has brought the best out of my dad and he's gotten to love everybody here, even if he is stubborn. Thank you all.
Overall a very well run care facility. Staff very loving & caring to residents & family.
Quite simply I could not have asked for better - My Mother was happy and settled and the staff treated her with care and genuine affection.
My Aunt has been in Ashbourne for over 6 months and it gets 5 stars from us. The staff are very caring. She is always clean and tidy and she adores the gentleman who does the activities. Christmas was made special with a visit to the local school to see the children sing and she made lovely Christmas cards. The home is very supportive of the relatives. Thank you Ashbourne.
My mother-in-law moved to Ashbourne Care Home in June 2024. The care she has received has been excellent. She is treated with dignity and respect and we can be confident that she is being looked after in the way she deserves. I have nothing but praise for all of the staff and would not hesitate to recommend the care home. Thank you for all you do.
We have found the home to be excellent. My sister has been very happy there. All the staff have become her friends and they look after her with great care. There is always something going on, activities etc. The management is top-class.
Ashbourne Care Home is a lovely well-presented care home of which my mother is a resident. The care she receives is very good, lovely choice of food and she is quite happy there. Management and staff are excellent, kind and considerate and I find they are lovely to me too when I visit. I am always informed of developments there regarding Mom needing a nurse, doctor, etc. I wouldn't want my mom to be anywhere else.
Since our mother moved in over a month ago, we have found the home fits her needs very well. The staff are professional and friendly, but also very approachable and have more than put our decision on our mother's future. We would more than recommend Ashbourne as a great care home.
