View Full Details of Whitchurch HouseI have been here 5 months and have found the carers always very helpful caring and good natured without exception, even through it must be at times very tiring. The food is adequate and good and you never feel hungry in between meals. We get a cup of tea with a biscuit/cake morning and afternoon. Alternatives are provided if there is something you do not like, in my case mushrooms and chocolate. Entertainments are provided each day which help to break up an otherwise long day, usually in the afternoon some of us do nod off (after lunch). We also have a quiz which I like and bingo. the overall picture is a pleasant one and helps you forget (sometimes) your aches and pains.
Mum was really well cared for during August as is always the case. Contact from the home was good and I was informed of any additional requirements that mum had. It's a real friendly family atmosphere at the home and I have got to know several of the other residents who let me know if mum's been behaving herself between my weekly visits. The staff without exception are very caring and always welcoming whenever I visit. Mum really enjoys living at Whitchurch House.
My mother moved into Whitchurch House in December 2024 at the age of 96. She had previously spent two periods of respite care here, so she was familiar with the home. Having visited several residential homes in the area, Whitchurch House was always the one that stood out for me. It's not too large, it is very open, light and airy. There is a certain informality about the place that appeals to me. I am a frequent visitor, can turn up at any time and the staff are always pleasant and friendly. I love the way Milo, the big black cat saunters around the place as if he owns it, sometimes sprawling across a sunny windowsill or lounging on one of the chairs. I also like the fact that most of the staff are employed locally, many of whom have been there for several years. I don't think we could have found a better place for my mother.
The level of care is high with the day staff who attend to all my mothers needs. One issue I have is night staff don't seem to pay attention on handover to my mothers failing eyesight and also sometimes do not put her hearing aids in correctly (in the wrong ears). Morning are rushed for her and with her being 95 years old and hardly any eyesight mum feels night staff don't pay any attention and understand her needs.
I am very pleased with the care that mum is receiving at Whitchurch House. The staff are caring and attentive towards her. They communicate well with all of the family and are aware of mum's wants and needs. We are always made to feel welcome. The facilities and grounds are neat and well kept. We are happy for Mum to be there and think that she is happy too.
Mum has now settled in really well to Whitchurch House. The staff are kind and caring and pay real attention to ensuring residents have excellent care and support. The team actively plan a range of activities including visits from external parties to ensure all residents have stimulating experiences and opportunities to move, think creatively and engage in events. My Mum's health and wellbeing have noticeably improved since moving to this lovely care home.
The staff are always cheerful and friendly. They have a great rapport with all the residents and have time to sit and chat with them. There is entertainment every afternoon which is designed to meet the needs of the residents at the time. In addition they often hold parties and events for residents and their families. Dad is allowed to have a beer and to go to bed when it suits him. He is very fond of all the staff. Whenever I visit I am made to feel welcome and can go at any time. The staff communicate regularly with me if there are any problems I should know about or if dad just wants to talk to me. He was not happy in his previous residential home, but since moving to Whitchurch House he has been settled and happy. I cannot praise Whitchurch House enough.
We are all so pleased with the care that Dad is receiving and most important of all he is very happy at Whitchurch House. The staff are wonderful, there are lots of activities and they are so friendly and kind. It is such a relief to know that he is so well cared for and enjoying life. Thank you to everyone at Whitchurch House.
My mother is being cared for at Whitchurch House and has been there since Sept 2023. My experience with the staff from the very start of the process was one of utmost professionalism and efficiency. The assessment process was smooth and with respect for our situation at the time. My mother is very happy there and all the staff are extremely kind and helpful - nothing is too much trouble and everything is done willingly and cheerfully. This is reflected in the tangible reassuring feeling I get when I visit, 3 or 4 times a week. The food is of a very high standard and the entertainment and social activities are amazing. Every effort is made to ensure that residents have a happy time. I would recommend Whitchurch House to anyone looking for residential care.
“Our mother has been a Whitchurch House resident since February 2022 and we have nothing but praise for the Home which met her needs at a time when she was more independent. The staff are very caring as well as being highly professional, and respectful of residents. There is an activities and entertainment programme run by someone specifically employed to occupy, interest and amuse residents in an upbeat way. The building itself is pleasant with well-decorated bedrooms and communal areas, including a light and airy conservatory where many people spend the day. On a practical level, the food is wholesome and the Home has a good relationship with a local doctor who visits regularly. The house is in rural surroundings, with a beautiful church, some tourist attractions, and riverside walks. Mom has been incredibly happy at Whitchurch, which has been a blessing in her 90’s and has given our family a lot of joy and ease of mind to witness.
During the last two years, my mother was looked after very well by the staff and carers at Whitchurch House who always had her best interests at heart. She loved the varied activities from craft work to visiting musicians and celebrating special days throughout the year. The family were always made very welcome and Mum enjoyed trips out with other residents. Whitchurch House is situated in a beautiful part of the country on a river with walks nearby along the river. Mum enjoyed sitting out in the lovely gardens of Whitchurch and planting her own sunflowers along with other residents. We feel very lucky that we chose Whitchurch House for Mum.
Whitchurch House is a lovely place to visit. Everyone is so friendly and happy, the staff are always very obliging and nothing is too much trouble for them. The activities are wonderful and they really make a huge effort for all the residents. My friend thoroughly enjoys living there and the care she receives has made a substantial difference to her life. It's comforting to know there are homes around like Whitchurch House.
I would like to thank all the staff and management at Whitchurch House for the fantastic job they all did during the 16 months my mother was a resident at the home. During her stay, my mother often told me that we could not have found a better place for her care, nor nicer and more considerate staff. She was treated with compassion and warmth from day one and repeatedly told me she was very happy at the home. The care she received made a huge difference to her well-being. She retained her independence, where that was what she wanted and she was included in the community within the home whenever that suited her too. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, who were kind, personable, professional and supportive not only to my mother but also to other members of the family when visiting. The team did a great job and I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending the home and its staff. Neither I nor my mother could fault it.
I visited Whitchurch House to see a family friend and neighbour. I would like to say what a wonderful caring home it is, my friend’s life has been totally transformed with the company of others and the help they receive from the friendly staff.
My relative is thriving at Whitchurch House, the staff’s dedication to caring is a testament to the quality and care provided. The activities are many and varied and credit to the activity coordinator. We are very grateful for the wonderful care and company that she receives. It has changed her life for the better.
I would like to thank all the staff and management at Whitchurch House for caring for our family friend. It has transformed her life, she loves all the entertainment and activities. We haven't seen her this happy for a long time. Thank you.
Whitchurch House has made a huge difference in my friend's life. She is well looked after by the wonderful staff and enjoys the activities and entertainment each week. Her life was very lonely before and she struggled on her own, she now has new friends and something to do each day which keeps her simulated and very happy. Thank you all.
Our Auntie is very happy at Whitchurch House, the staff are lovely and nothing is too much trouble. It has transformed her life, she has new friends and enjoys all the activities and entertainment. She is well cared for and in the right place. I thoroughly recommend this home to anyone.
I am so delighted, my mother has settled in very well. The level of care is superb, it has transformed her life. She has made many new friends and always enjoys all the activities. The staff are excellent. Thank you all so much.
The team at Whitchurch House have been outstanding over the whole period (7+ years) that my Auntie was a resident. On numerous occasions, the staff went well beyond the call of duty to sort something out or make her stay more enjoyable or fulfilling. Most of them became dear friends, and my Auntie would chat about what they had been up to and how good they were at their jobs - they were so caring, welcoming and friendly, Whitchurch House never really felt like a Care Home, but rather a very comfortable country house that she felt privileged to live in. The food was also regularly reviewed by my Auntie as excellent - and her health always seemed to benefit from good food which she liked to eat. My husband and I couldn't be happier with the service provided and would recommend it to anyone who has an elderly relative in need of residential care and support.
